I went to Duk Kee for lunch with a coworker on a busy Thursday. We didn't realize it when we decided to order in person.
I had the sea bass with choy sum and a side of rice. My coworker ordered the lunch special. I liked my meal and was able to split it into two lunches. My coworker enjoyed his lunch special.
All in all, I had no issues with my food, my order, or the service. The price was a little costly. The restaurant's interior looked like every other local Chinese restaurant, and nothing special stood out.

The servers were very attentive and helpful. They were really nice and brought the food out very quickly. Me and my family had a great time together with all the delicious meals. The duck was fantastic full of flavor and their walnut shrimp, pepper beef and fish was good. The environment was nice and make sure we got what we needed. I appreciate their hospitality. We are definitely coming back. Overall experience was very excellent. I highly recommend this place for family and friend gatherings.

Saw the special on Instagram and decided to try the food again. Food was not the same that was shown on the Instagram. Pepper beef was not whole pieces but in small slices, pepper and salt pork chop, too heavy breading, small pieces that you would think have pork but only breading, serving size of meal itself was smaller than shown on Instagram.
Great Cantonese food, which we don't have at home, served family style on a large Lazy Susan. Kids loved roast pork, duck soup, egg fu yong, chop suey, beef chow mein. We were the only non-Asian people there but the staff made us feel right at home.
Wife and I are back in Honolulu visiting family and friends, after moving to Boston seven years ago. We moved to help our daughter babysit her two boys. We stopped by at Duk Hee Chinese Restaurant as I heard that the Golden Duck owner took over the restaurant. My parents were the King Fong Chop Suey (Duk Hee now) and Kinney Chop Suey (Kapahulu) owners in the 1950s - 1980s. When they retired in early 1980s, they sold our second restaurant to the old Duk Hee owners. I found the wor won ton and wor gau gee soup to be very good and tasty. Wife ate some of the beef broccoli on the plate lunch before I took the picture. The taste and portions were good also, price was fair and reasonable. One of my uncle’s owned the old Red Rooster Chop Suey and later started Golden Duck, and then retired and sold it. I ate there twice this week, and the current cooks are very good and the waitress staff are nice! Highly recommend!
Classic local Chinese dinner w best friends. 6 dishes fresh excellent & fried was not greasy. Round lazy susan table made it home. Adults & kids all enjoyed & could be casual. Bravo Duk Kee for keeping best food memories in Kaimuki
5/10/2025 @ 2:45pm. I door dashed an order from Duk Kee for me and the wifey. I've been a long-time customer of their establishment. I have not been disappointed before but today. I couldn't believe it. I order $85 dollars of food. 1 order Lok Fun, 1 order char siu,1 order honey walnut shrimp and I was supposed to get a buy 1 get 1 free gau gee. Didn't receive that but paid for 2 orders. If I had known, I would've just paid 18 for the 10 pcs instead of 25.99. I understand inflation but not being ripped off. 10pcs of honey walnut shrimp for $25 and then charged $26 for a deal that I surely didn't get. Sad because I was bragging to my wife how good the food is and reasonably priced. Only for her to look at me disappointed when she opened the containers and we still hungry 2 hours later.
Soooo good!
Went for lunch, decent Cantonese style food. Feeling adventurous try the pork hash with ginger fish. Yummy 😋
Went here looking for a good authentic Chinese place for take out (but that also had some orange chicken, which I don’t believe is authentic lmao) and this place had soooo many options! The lady had a lot of patience with me over the phone as I asked a lot of questions. The portions were very large and everything was delicious! Will definitely be coming back! Mahalo

I just posted photos of their current menu and prices which are accurate as of November 18, 2024. The headlined blue menu prices someone else posted are inaccurate. The real current prices are lower (cheaper) so make sure you look at the CURRENT menu prices I just posted under “photos.” Duk Kee Cantonese Chinese Restaurant is still the BEST Chinese restaurant overall in Kaimuki, IMHO.
There are six(6) photos I just posted and should show soon as they are now listed as “pending” at 9:19am on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Do not get their side of green beans - it was TEENY TINY for $17, and overcooked. Other food is decent.
First time I tried here and the food is fresh and delicious, will be back to try all the menu!

Since the family turned over the operations to the younger family members the quality of food has been very poor 😢. Watery sauces ran off my plate and on to the floor 😢. Not the same unfortunately. My family and I been loyal customers for decades...
What a shame. Better off going to Panda express 😌. Good bye to a true local favorite. Aloha Eric

If I have to admit, the food is not the same. We ordered our go to, dinner plate, and the noodles were a bit watery. The fried rice was ok but interesting. The sweet sour pork was good, Kau yuk was a little blan. My family and I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant and it's hard to find nowadays.
