I read quite a few reviews of eateries in Chinatown pushing a narrative that this is a scary or unsafe area, please don't let this deter you. Chinatown has some of the best restaurants on the island and Fete is one of them. Everything Ive had at Fete has been extremely fresh and made to perfection. I can't say enough good things about the chef and the friendly attentive staff. Do yourself a favor and make the reservation now, you'll thank me later!Vegetarian options: I had the risotto and fete salad both were incredibly fresh and delicious!

This was my first time here. I found the spacing of the tables to be quite close together and the place was crowded. If you are looking for a packed, quick flow place, this is your spot. The service was fast and overall friendly. I stood around for a min. outside at check in area, I was not greeted so I went inside to find my friend who booked the reservation. The waiter was friendly, and knowledgeable. He presented the specials, in addition to regular menu options with comparisons to other great options across the island. The drinks and food came out fast. The mai tai was great; stong and delicious. The oysters had a unique buttery flavor. The cioppino soup was the highlight. It had great flavor. Sadly, the lasagna was very meat heavy and tasted more like a meat pie than cheesy meat layered among noodles. The noodles were very thin and almost tasted like they were missing from the dish. The kulolo sorbet was on point. I am still thinking about it. At the beginning of dessert, the check was dropped. It made sense with several parties anxiously waiting outside. We finished dessert and promptly paid. As my friend attended the restroom and I was finishing my drink, I was asked to relinquish the table due to the business of the night. It was off-putting, to be rushed out, as we had been there around 90 mins and paced with the tables around us. Street parking is available close by.

Fete was the best meal we’ve had in Honolulu without a question. We were seated in the library which was a great, cozy atmosphere for our meal. Our server, Josh, was great and provided an in-depth knowledge of the menu and ingredients and was able to make great suggestions. He really made the experience that much better. The food was the best we had on our trip and included some of the best lasagna we’d ever tasted, twice fried chicken that was juicy and tender, delicious pot pie and risotto, and a Korean fried chicken sandwich. The desserts were also a great way to finish the delicious meal. Everyone should check out Fete and be lucky to get Josh serving them.

We came for lunch in Honolulu's Chinatown after golf. It was pretty busy during lunch, and the restaurant offered a wide variety of dishes. We ordered the Korean fried chicken sandwich, fried chicken, and beef Bourgogne pot pie. The fried chicken was a bit overcooked and came without sides, but the sandwich and pot pie were tasty. Their Mai Tai was the best I've had.

Second time to Fête. Of course wanted to return because the food was delicious. There are only a few note worthy “farm-to-table” restaurants in Honolulu & this is one. Unfortunately, the owner (who is also the host) disappointed us again. This time took the icing off the cake. Reservations were made with a note of a Birthday celebration & a request for a quiet corner table away from main door. When we arrived he just simply pointed to a table for two (in a NYC kine way). Did not seat us nor wish a Happy Birthday-I was even wearing a lei! The table was in the MIDDLE of high traffic. (All employees conversed next to us including the host all through the one hour we were seated.) Trying not to make a big fuss we sat as directed . The server was attentive to us, the table runners not so much. The food was soooooo full of flavor … but the main course (specials) arrived cold and took a while to get to us. It was hard to really appreciate it in an intense atmosphere. Seems like most locals feel the same about Fete but don’t rock the boat with reviews/feedback. Seemed most customers last night were from off island. Fete seems to want to cram more customers in than be attentive to the experience. It’s not fun to have to yell across a small cafe table just to talk amongst a table of 2! Needless to say we asked for the check as soon as main course was over-we wanted out! Be ware foodies James Beard award is all about who you know.

Great service delicious flavorsThey make HUGE adjustments for picky vegetarians like me!! That too with a smile on their face!! Highly recommended make reservations before you get on the island. The place is popular and small so seating can get tight and feel like manhattan!

Service was excellent and all of the food was exceptional. The steak in particular was a standout, as well as the flan for dessert. A couple of us also had a special—mahi mahi with sage and prosciutto—which we loved.
