They say to go early. I went at 730 am. There was a line. About 6 people a head of me. The service is quick. I decided to make things quicker by ordering the set take out combs. I got the C combo. Substitute the chicken for the mori chicken 75 cents more. And dessert, almond cookies and chocolate chips cookies. Everything was delicious. It was like time traveling to the 60's. Cone sushi like back in the day. I never had the chicken nori. Its fried chicken with a secret sauce. To die for! Chow Fun is so good. Cookies. Almond cookies, better than original, lol. Ambiance, clean!

Wow! Haven't been in a long time. So much maki sushi ready and available! My dad loved it. Okazuya food was delish!! Nori covered chicken was pricey at $4, but great. I would get it again! And the potato hash patty!!! Small private parking lot. Recommend!!!

$13.20 for 4 small portions of: 3 vegetables & various protein and 1 small macaroni potato salad! I spent $45 total for me and my younger brother for other things but this is my last time based on what I got charged for just my plate lunch. I want to lose weight but not like this. Also, they need a “fly zapper.” I’m going back to my other 2 favorite Japanese okazuya delicatessens in Kaimuki. Sorry, Fukuya. Aloha.

Stopped by one early weekend and lucky enough to try the Ahi Poke. I wish they would sell it every day instead of weekends only. Perfectly paired when you paired with their Nori Chicken and Ume Shiso Onigiri and follow it up with a scoop of their Mac Salad. Delicious!

Living on the west side and rarely venturing towards town I never tried Fukuya after all these years. I've heard of it before but it was just too far to make that drive. However, after watching a couple of social media reviews hyping up the place we decided to check it out on a day we wanted to drive around.
So I'll get straight to the point. It was a lot of hype. There was a good selection of food but almost all of it has been sitting for quite a while and was relatively old even for okazu-ya. We did go on a Saturday in the afternoon so that may have had something to do with it. Still not an excuse. Our favorite item was simply the chow fun. The nori chicken wasn't bad either but probably much better if it was fresh. Other items were forgettable. The andagi was bad. Hard and overcooked.
My overall impression was that Fukuya is alright and has alot of that old school vibes but it's not worth making the drive for.
Oh yeah, the parking can be a bit tricky if it's busy.

I went to this place after watching it on YouTube because it said it was a good local lunch box and side dish restaurant. A place that only operates from morning until 2 o’clock. After 1 o'clock, some items were sold out, so I couldn't choose the lunch box menu. Choice of 8 different side dishes. Half of them had a strong Japanese perilla leaf flavor and some inexplicable spice, so I couldn't eat them. The other side dishes were edible, but they didn't have the special flavor I expected. I expected a clean Japanese side dish, but it was somewhere between Chinese and Japanese. Musubi, which costs over $2, is based on bare rice with no seasoning at all. It was kind, but not to my taste.

I’ve been going to Fukuyas for about 40 years now. Love their food.. with all the closures of the old Japanese okazuya places, this is the my go to in town. Mahalo Fukuyas for keeping it going for another generation to share & pass on❤️

There’s not too many Okazuya spots left in Hawaii. I was so great-full to hear that Fukuya was still open. This established has been around for many, many years and the quality has never changed ♥️. Staff is super friendly & food is always at its greatest quality. You get to choose from many different options. I highly recommend this spot.
Only downfall Parking lot is a bit small and it’s a bit hard to find if you’re not paying attention.
