Terrible experience – do not waste your time here!
The service is absolutely awful. You have to get your own utensils, and when you call the staff, they just look at you and ignore you. There’s barely any fish in the sushi, and the food takes forever to arrive. No one even checks on your table. I’m really disappointed because other places had perfect food and excellent service — but here, everything was a complete letdown.

Really enjoyed genki everytime we go, its not the most authentic but they have alot of hawaii inspired sushi that isn't exactly traditional sushi but thats why the wife and I like it so much its different, if you are really into japanese sushi like from Japan it may disappoint as we have also had amazing sushi in Japan but I love it for the Hawaiian fusion.

Staff and service is normally great! However today I was coming to dine in with my service dog and was informed that “all pets including service animals are not permitted per manager” despite my explanation that my dog is a trained service animal as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), 42 U.S.C. § 12101 et seq.

I have dined in with my dog before with no problems here before but this was the first time I have encountered this situation. The staff member was sweet and said she will talk with the manager. They did eventually let me to dine but I want address the fact that this experience was not only unnecessary but also highlights the need to review policies that are in place regarding service animal accommodations

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I went there once and was turned away with my serive dog because she wasn't wearing her service dog vest or id for her. According to the ADA a service dog can wear any color vest and is NOT required to wear a vest. There is no ID to be shown. You need to educate your young employees about service dog regulations. They're not just seeing eye dogs for the blind. There are medical alert, psychiatric service dogs and also food allergy detection service dogs. It was the only restaurant that turned me away. It's not right, and I know people have fake service dogs. However, you can spot one when they're aggressive or do not listen to their owners. That right there us proof it's a fake. Anyway, I was really disappointed and went to another location. I have been to Genki with my service do multiple times at the Kapahulu location with no issues or questioning if my service do is legit.

Genki Sushi Ala Moana used to be a fun way to get middle-to-lower-middle quality nigiri and maki at the mall. What happened? The ahi nigiri came ouu

We had gotten seated pretty quick, but besides that the wait for 5 plates of smaller platter sushi was horrible!! It was a 20 minute wait for each plate we had. Our water was never refilled, not once, we tried calling for service but not a single worker came to assist us. Staff was rude. Never again.

Went there today for dinner and had a disgusting experience. I ordered pickled radish rolls first thing after sitting down, and they didn’t show up. This is a common occurrence for this location, often flat out forgetting to send out sushi. When I asked a waitress about this, they sent one out on a blatantly dirty plate covered in crumbs and tempura skin. The item I ordered has nothing that resembles any of the crumbs on the plate . It’s clear that the kitchen did this purposely, the other sushi guests were receiving were not in this condition, only mines. The sushi was chopped at all sorts of different sizes, not caring at all. Additionally the sushi was on a dirty plate used for premium sushi, the one I ordered is 2.15, i.e the cheapest thing on thing on the menu, meaning they just grabbed any old plate. It’s not shown too well in the photo but the plate had a number of suspicious oily smears. This Genki Sushi like most is usually average at best, but let this be a cautionary tale about asking to get food that you didn’t receive. For all we know they could’ve smeared their nuts on the plate. Historically, Genki Sushi is a filthy establishment, even causing a Hepatitis outbreak a few years ago. To anyone with a compromised immune system do not risk eating here, even the safe stuff isn’t entirely safe.

We always enjoy the food and experience here. Our server was an electric food car, and so she gave us no troubles nor recommendations.

Quick and easy to order on your phone 📱.

Missing Link

Not the typical Sushi-go-round I am used to in Japan, but it fit the urge. Price vs food is spot on.
