Celebrating a birthday here was a great disappointment. Watched other tables getting birthday attention was a special kind of painful with no acknowledgment on our behalf. Quality of meat was good, food was decent. Water cups were constantly empty until we asked for someone for refills, nobody offered for any of the other drinks to be refilled. Zero attention was given to our table and service was minimal. Was my first time and sadly, this experience has left much to be desired. The restaurant had 4 tables total, not even busy, just felt like neglect. Hostess desk was friendly and prompt.
Server was efficient and pleasant; answered our questions very patiently. Food was great! Our reservation was at 6:00 p.m., therefore was able to get some food items at a discount. Will return again.
The food is always delicious here, but the portions have gotten smaller due, which is understandable. We used to frequent here once every month or two, but Iʻm not sure Iʻd be back quite as often unfortunately.
We were excited to try this place and made reservations however the time of day we went was not busy at all which was nice. The food was delicious we did the AYCE lunch and a few of us had other menu items. Our server was helpful at explaining everything. Service was super friendly from the host who greeted us, our server and even bus boys. I would definitely make this a regular stop when I'm in Waikiki again. I loved it so much. My kids really loved the s'mores dessert too. Not sure why I have no photos of my food, usually I take lots of pictures but it's possible we just were engulfed in eating bc it was so good.
Run down, seats need to be recovered or replaced. Large selection, but meats with marinade are not as seasoned as expected. Service and cocktails need improvement.
Very nice place, not very busy and not noisy. I enjoyed the ambience and the vibe a lot, reminded me of Japan a lot. Will be revisiting, especially during happy hour purely for the ridiculous prices, quantity, and value of food you can get
Good food, good service, we come here often and enjoy their easygoing atmosphere and good cuts
Exceptional service, friendly and professional! Prompt and so much delicious foods and options. Great for families, couples, for all occasions! Always have a good time here. Thank you for your outstanding service!
We always go for the unlimited 45 and we love their selections of meat. At first you'd think that the servings are too small but you can always ask for more and at some point I started to appreciate this because that way we don't waste any food. Parking is free for 3 hrs at the Kapiolani Parking area when you use their code. This is the first time we made a reservation as we just always walk thru and we always had to wait for 10-15 mins. If you're not willing to wait that long make sure to make a reservation. Overall, it's always a great experience here and the one in Kaneohe. The one in Waikiki was not as great as they were so restrictive with how much you can order.
Always a wonderful experience when dining at Gyukaku Kapiolani. Friendly service and quality items at a fair price. This place has it all.
Restaurantji Recommends
Gyu-Kaku had so many lunch deals with options to upgrade or add more to your meal. The menu had something for everyone! The food tasted great and the service was awesome.
Had an amazing time at dinner. It was our first time dining here. Our server Nathan took great care of us. He took time to explain the menu to us and also gave us recommendations as well. Consistently checked up on us throughout the dinner to make sure we were okay. The rest of staff were super friendly, fast, and efficient as well. Food was absolutely amazing. All meats were seasoned and marinated deliciously. You didn't need to use the sauces but they were a great plus! Although all were amazing, the favorites of the night were the premium sirloin, filet, beef tongue, spicy addicting cucumbers, and shishito peppers. Will be back again soon! Thanks for taking care of my family.
Love Gyukaku! Friendly service, good food and truly enjoy being able to cook while eating.
The food in and of itself was delicious and the group experience was nice but this location had a few issues. My group chose the 45 item ea 90 minute all you can eat special. In the beginning it took about 15 minutes for two severs to figure out how to light one of our grills. Then there was the flow of food to the table. The first trip was fine (you are limited to how many item you can order at a single time) but for every order afterwards the portions got not only progressively smaller they also started taking longer and longer to get to the table. I could not help but begin ro feel as if this was intentionally. There was an item that I had to order three separate times before it finally came eating up a lot of the preset time alloted. I had a two year old with me and apparently the location had only a single highchair for the entire restaurant (a lot of booster seats though). Finally the restroom seemingly very old making it look dirty even though I do not think it actually was plus there was no baby changing station. From 0600 (6am) hours to 1800 (6pm) you have to find public parking wich is pretty difficult especially if you have a larger vehicle although after 1800 you are allowed to park on the street just outside the resturant door which is obviously much more convenient.

They have not been able to provide the popular pork toro and beef toro for a very long time. Every time I ask, they come up with all kinds of bogus reasons why they do not have them. Fix it Gyu Kaku!
