One of the best restaurants in Waikiki. Awesome service and really good food, for a fair price

Everything was amazing! From the service to the food! Being in a prime location we were even able to people watch and have a good laugh. Our server Tais was amazing and timely with checking on us and the manager even came to compliment us. It’s so important that we uplift one another. Me and my best friend will be returning!

I recently visited IL Tapo restaurant in Hawaii, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The food did not live up to expectations—everything tasted underwhelming and lacked the fresh, flavorful quality you would hope for, especially given the location and price point.
What made the experience worse was the attitude of the owner. Rather than being welcoming, they were surprisingly aggressive and unprofessional when we raised a polite concern about our meal. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere and left us feeling like our business wasn’t appreciated.
With so many wonderful dining options in Hawaii, I can’t recommend IL Tapo based on this experience. Hopefully, they can work on improving both their food and customer service in the future.
Good thing this restaurant is hard to find since its on the 2nd floor of the Hilton Hotel.

Literally the best service I’ve received in Waikiki or on Oahu. I’ve lived here for two years and this place is a hidden gem. Salvatore makes you feel at home! The caprese uses heirloom tomatoes and pesto, which is fantastic, and the tiramisu is light and delicious. Fantastico!

Great gem! Staff is very friendly and the pizza is excellent and fresh. Prices are reasonable and you feel appreciated for choosing the establishment. Went 2 nights in a row while on vacation and would go again. It is a quiet spot and you don’t feel rushed.

Without a doubt, this is one of the BEST restaurants in Honolulu. The true highlight, however, is the warmth and hospitality from the owner, Sal, Soo Yung, and the entire staff. Every time we visit, we're greeted like family, making each dining experience feel truly special. The food and drinks are consistently outstanding, offering a genuine taste of Italy. If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine paired with impeccable service, this is the place to be. I can't recommend it enough—1000000/10!

Had the pesto pasta and the margharita pizza and it was delicious. Best pesto I’ve had in awhile. The owner was incredible and so helpful and thoughtful. Atmosphere is wonderful with pleasant outdoor seating. Definitely come here!
Vegetarian options: I ordered a pasta dish with chicken on the side and gave my husband the chicken. Salad options and pizza options for vegetarian.

The service was fantastic! The food is authentic. Every time I come here I feel like Familia. The lasagna is a fav and the Italian wine selection is curated by the owner, Salvatore, who is Napoletano. Be sure to say Ciao Bella to Kira and Tais.
Parking: Parking lot below the restaurant $12 flat rate

A chill place with an upscale menu. Great views overlooking Lewers Street. The lamb shank was tender and succulent, my wife really enjoyed the lasagna. The side salad was elegantly dressed with salty Parmesan and sweet tomatoes.
Vegetarian options: Lots of pizza and salad options. Salads are upscale and very well dressed.
Kid-friendliness: More of an upscale vibe for couples and retirees. Kids would throw off the vibe and the menu doesn't have much they'd appreciate (other than cheese pizza).

Australians traveling avoid this restaurant. Food was so average, from the frozen pizza base with no flavour, the garlic bread was basically toast garlic paste and the atmosphere basically none and servers tried their best but clearly inexperienced all for about $220 AUD for 2 adults and a toddler.
