this little hole is the wall has some amazing food. Portions are well thought out and the service is top notch. Gives you the feeling of being in someone's house. Food came out hot and on time. This will now be my go to place for amazing sushi and Japanese fare.

Went on a Saturday evening with a friend. Food was top notch delicious! Fresh seafood and good selection of sake. Service was excellent! Located on Young St between Ke'eaumoku St and Kalakaua Ave on the ground level of a small business building. Lots of parking in the lot after hours.

I saw the word “gem” mentioned in a number of reviews about Izakaya Matsuri, and after eating there this evening, I understand why. It's sensational. If I lived here, this would be my spot. The fish is perfection and presented beautifully. The ume cucumber and kobocha squash appetizers were equally delicious and flavorful. The service is wonderful and friendly. It's also got a great vibe. We have several other sushi restaurants on our list before we leave, but I suspect we will be coming back to Matsuri again.

Neighborhood gem, tucked away, unable to see restaurant from the street. One of those places where you have to have heard about from someone and get a good description of where it is. Matsuri has the best fresh fish from Hawaii & Japan, Hokkaido crab & uni, and lots of good sake selections. Everything is clean, service and food is always consistently good.

Always enjoy the food and service at Izakaya Matsuri. The sushi chef is amazing and serves the freshest sushi as well as the other dishes we ordered. The restaurant service is awesome and they make you feel like you are the only ones in the restaurant.

Our reservation just happen to be on the day when Kubota sake had a free tasting of their new 2025 offerings. Food was excellent and Kubota sake was flowing. What's not to like.
