I haven't been to the restaurant since 2 years ago with my friend. My co-worker ordered lunch to celebrate my co-worker's birthday. There a total 7 bentos ordered. My bento was teri beef, fried chicken, saba, and gobo with rice. Beef was tender, saba was fresh, and chicken not too oily. Price of bento is affordable.

Because of COVID they only do take out, and found out the they will not renew their lease and will be closing sometime in April, this is always our go to Japenese Resturant because the food is always good and consistent. Another good Resturant closing so sad to see it go.

Worst service!!!! Didn't have reservations and was asked if we would like to sit at the bar. Sat the for 15 min before being acknowledged by the waitress and old sushi chef. Ordered a beer and took another 15 min to arrive. Here comes a party of 6 with no reservations and they had beer n sushi served to them within 15 min. Asked the old man why we weren't given a menu and without saying anything, he just walked away. We stood up and left without paying for our beers. WILL NEVER EVER PATRONIZE THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!!!!

Anyone that knows me knows that I love Japanese food... especially those old school restaurants that serve local favorites, teishoku style (you choose your entree and it comes with a complete meal of miso soup, rice, salad, and tsukemono). Kabuki is one of those places. Not only is it close to home (I can walk there and get some exercise in before stuffing my face with yummy food), but the prices are reasonable and you get a good amount of food for the price you pay. Before the Stay at Home order, I only visited Kabuki a few times for the occasional work lunch. However, during the first Stay At Home order, I discovered that Kabuki does take out AND they offer a great deal with their bentos! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kabuki's bento #1, which includes Beef Teriyaki, chicken katsu, rice, and tsukemono. The beef teriyaki is thin pieces of meat slathered in the local style teriyaki sauce. I love the sauce so much...that after I finish eating the beef, I'll put my rice in the sauce and eat that up too. The katsu is cooked perfectly where the meat is still moist but the outside is crispy. The best part...the bento costs less than $8. Yes. You read that right. It's less than eight dollars! And it is enough food to get me full. However, for the days I'm feeling extraordinarily hungry or I'm craving a little more deep fried goodness, I'll order a side of the croquettes. This is my go-to order...as soon as I phone it in, the waitress knows it's me.

Working across the street, there's not much options without having to go on adventure...so I LOVE the fact that Kabuki is so close to me!What I love about them?- Fast- Great food- Value- Great customer serviceI don't have a lot of time during lunch, so I love that I can order ahead and pick up bentos. When things were "normal", you would get your food in a timely manner. Everything they serve tastes delicious. I always order a bento that has salmon. Each time, it's perfectly cooked! Nothing is overcooked or dry! I have been meaning to try their sushi...Bumbai!The value for the food you get is worth it. Their bentos and overall pricing is fair. There's so many Japanese restaurants that overcharge on everything..Kabuki isn't one of them. Finally, customer service is always great. The staff is always friendly.Support local and grab a quick lunch when in the area or pick up dinner!

Due to Covid-19 they are only doing take out. No seating inside or out, just take out only. Don't forget to wear your mask when you enter. One of our friends gave us a gift card for over here so we decided to order a bunch of things. We went to their website at to take a look at their menu. We ordered a bunch from their bento selection. This was a mixed bag due to some things were good and some weren't so good. All the bentos come with rice, ume, and some sides. #1 bento was chicken katsu & Beef Teriyaki ($7.75). While the beef teriyaki tasted really good, their chicken katsu was kind of dry and really thin. #3 bento was Shrimp Tempura & Chicken Teriyaki ($7.40). Shrimp tempura was good however the chicken teriyaki was again kind of thin and kind of rubbery. #5 bento was Salmon Shioyaki, Teriyaki Chicken and 1 piece Shrimp Tempura and Gobo ($9.50). Everything tasted good (that's what my dad said). I'm sure if I ate it I bet I would have a different opinion on the chicken. lol I'm thinking their chicken wasn't that good that day. My better half got the Nabeyaki Udon ($13) for her and her mom. It came with tsukemono. She said they both liked it. Got side order of tempura and it tasted good. I cannot forget how she was so happy to see they had chawanmushi ($5) and of course she did her happy dance as that is one of her favorite things to eat. My Pro Tip would be to stay away from their chicken and to call your order in so you don't have to wait. Phone# 545-5995

One of the Top three restaurant to avoid. DO not waist $10 for finger size salmon, feet smell chicken, and 20000mg of sodium. This restaurant just do not know how to cook. I would like to suggest to them to buy the bento from 7 eleven and resell it.

Doesn't this place remind you of the 1980's need a total make over. Food is okay since not many Japanese places are really japanese, a lot of them are Korean based or cooked by other's.Daytime you must grab a ticket from attendant which is validated. Night and weekend parking is free!

Mother's Day was ruined !!!!!!!!!!! Called when they opened at 5pm to order takeout. The lady said it will be ready by 645/7pm. Came here at 650pm and still waiting for our food. It is currently 8:45 and this restaurant closes at 9pm ! Poor management and crappy service ! Never in hell going to go back to this place again !

Lately, Kabuki Kapiolani Restaurant has been my family's place of celebrations. We've celebrated birthdays, christmases, family visiting from the mainland or just family gatherings. Its nothing fancy...just a little hole in the wall kinda'place. The moment you walk in, you'll know that its a Japanese restaurant because of their furniture and the decor. The staff here is very friendly and welcoming. Whenever we call to make reservations or change our reservations, they are very accommodating. Also, if you would like to bring in a cake for a special celebration, they are more than happy to store it for you in their refrigerator. Now, let's get down to the grub! KKR has a large variety of dishes. They have teishoku combination plates, a variety of noodle dishes, handmade sushi rolls/bowls and many other Japanese dishes. In addition to the menu items, you can order from their special menus that changes periodically. My family usually order the teishoku combination plates because the value and portions are a good deal. The food is very tasty as well. So, if you are in the mood for some home cooked Japanese dishes, head on over to KKR. You'll thank me for that!

I love Kabuki! I can't believe I didn't post a review earlier. I get take out from here all the time. They can get pretty busy around dinner time, so it's best to either make a reservation if you're eating in or call in your order early. They have a great combination plate which allows you to choose between 2 or 3 items (I normally get the chicken katsu, assorted tempura, and either sashimi or teri beef). Each plate comes with rice, miso soup, and some Japanese sides. They also offer different bento options (I think for around $10), so call ahead to see what they have. For take out, the restaurant wraps up each item well so nothing spills out. I would definitely recommend trying here if you're in the mood for Japanese food.

This is a review for kabuki takeout bentos! Excellent prices. Excellent food. Quick order to pickup. Highly recommended. During these quarantine times, I've been here twice since being in lockdown and will definitely return! Prices range from $7.40-$9.95 for the bentos, but you can order of the regular menu too I believe. They make the bentos fresh to order, so give them about 20 min when they aren't too busy. The service was so nice and you can tell they are so appreciative of the business they get, making you feel so happy to support a small local business. To the food: I was a little sad that they don't really have a pescatarian friendly bento, but I just gave the chicken to my bf. The tempura pieces were so delicious, I feel like I wanted more. The sides are so delicious and what I feel is indicative of local Japanese food for sure. The ahi was nice and crispy and super delicious. Definitely give this place a shot for your corona takeout!

Got to Kabuki for an early lunch after a baseball game. Service is hit or miss at this location. We got one of the older servers (not very friendly; no customer service skills). Anyway, she took our order. When she came back, she spilled entire tray of soup, salads and pickled cabbage on the floor. The soup went all over my dad's bag that's attached to his walker. She didn't clean it. A younger boy came back after that incident and the service was much better. I ordered the salmon shioyaki and Teri chicken combination. The portions seemed smaller than previous visits. The food is consistently good at Kabuki. My entrees were a little cold, but still tasty. My son kept saying that we should have gone to Gyotaku. I think we'd better listen to him next time. Ha ha!
