If you're looking for a budget-friendly AYCE sushi place, Kats is the place to go! [Location] Kats is right by the Hele gas station on King St. Parking is available on-site for $3.00. I recommend finding street parking nearby. [Ambiance] This isn't the fanciest sushi place. It's very casual, but because of this very approachable. I highly recommend calling to make a reservation, especially if you have a bigger group. Part of the reason why my 5-star rating is a 4 is because I noticed shoyu splatter on the walls. I'm a bit of a clean-freak so this was distracting to me. This is the type of place you BYOB and chill with your friends. Not really a romantic date-y place. But still a good time. [Food] The sushi was pretty fresh. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is in part due to the quality of fish and rice to fish ratio. The current rate is $32.95/person (+ tax). Fair enough! I really appreciated the generous amount of fiber and wasabi that was provided. The hand rolls are a bit heavy on the rice, so be careful not to get too full! Each hand roll order comes with two rolls. I didn't realize this when I ordered! The nigiri comes with four pieces. Highly recommend the tai nigiri. It tasted the list fresh to me! [Service] Some AYCE places avoid customers but not Kats. My boyfriend and I felt well-cared for. The rounds kept coming. Please be patient as the sushi chefs are assembling each piece one by one. When we went it wasn't too busy, but there was a slight wait between rounds. The servers made sure to top our waters and made us feel welcomed.

I personally love the sushi they serve here! An all you can eat sushi for only $35 that serves good fish? What more can you ask for! Service was also good, they'll keep your sushi and hand rolls coming. The fish were fresh and juicy! For an all you can eat sushi, they definitely serve good fish. Don't forget to order the hot green tea to help digest the sushi better, so you can eat more! It's a BYOB, so definitely bring some drinks to enjoy too! It's a small space, so definitely get your reservation in or you might have to wait for a long time. The chef were friendly too and worked super fast, so don't worry about waiting too much! Definitely worth to check out!

The chef is so kind and is a master at making sushi! The whole time I was there, he never took a break! The atmosphere is very homey feeling, can get crowded. Seatings available inside and outside. Free hot tea, wasabi, and ginger! We celebrated my friends birthday at Kats! The whole room sang happy birthday and we all shared the cake, even with the chef. Fish is fresh, sushi rice amount is small, great customer service! Definitely recommend to come with friends and family for a great time

Visited Kats sushi after 10 years since the last time I've eaten here. Place still looks about the same. Would highly recommend reservations as seating is limited. If you choose the AYCE sushi option, it's only hand rolls and nigiri. Good selection of both. Your party can only order 5 items at a time. So if you order a nigiri, they'll make 2 pieces for every person at your party. For handrolls, each person will get one. They can make exceptions if someone in your party doesn't want a certain item, but I would try to keep it at a minimum. Service was good. The portions in terms of the nigiri are a lot smaller than I remember. It is likely due to cost and trying to keep the prices the same. However, it would allow you to try more things or order more rounds. Parking, there's a parking lot that you have to pay or if it's after 6:30 pm you can park on the street for free. Overall, it's still a good option for sushi, especially if you're feeling hungry.

I'll be completely honest, my review is super biased, as a former employee. I consider the owners family and this is honestly one of my favorite places to eat in all of Hawaii. I loved living off Dees food and Teds sushi.During the day, they have daily specials, local plate lunches and sushi specials and they also have a table with bentos and some times donburis. I'm not sure if they still have a sit down day time menu but they used to and it was the more traditional local Japanese menu; donburis, katsu and Teri beef plates, chirashi, lots of fun stuff.Dinner, is exclusively sushi and usually all you can eat. I'm not sure the exact price as of today but a quick call when they are open should fix that. You need to make a reservation , even on a Monday or Tuesday. So the sushi here is very traditional, nigiri and hand rolls and maybe a tekkamaki. California rolls are about as modern as it gets and that's a huge part of what I love about it. No Philly rolls and volcano's and whitefish(whatever that is). Miso soup, ocha, sushi and mizu. The way its supposed to be. It is still byob and thats always been a huge hit.Parking: I bring this up because , day time, its hard to find a place but at night its easier to park in the back of the building and just put $3 in the parking box, trust me. Put the money in.

This place was such a highlight of the trip! We found it by driving by and realized it was a BYOB AYCE sushi spot and had to give it a shot! Make sure to call several days ahead to get a reservation, there is very few tables and it is a popular local spot! There's no way to make a reservation besides on the phone so make sure to call accordingly. You can order rounds of nigiri and handrolls, or mix and match! You must finish all of the first round before moving onto the next, so make sure to order things you know you like! Quality of fish was great, the unagi, salmon, and tuna nigiri were amazing - I loved the Hawaiian handroll and the scallop handroll the best!

We eat a lot of sushi and this place did not disappoint! Great quality for AYCE! Kudos to all staff for being so friendly and welcoming to us, despite being so busy. Parking was easy ($3) and quick access to the restaurant. Wish we tried this place earlier! Will definitely be back.

Fabulous service and amazing food. It was the freshest sushi that my husband and I have ever had. We highly recommend this restaurant for locals and for people visiting from out of town.

Are you a fan of sushi? You must check out this amazing all-you-can-eat sushi place in town! For only $32, you can indulge in a variety of nigiri and hand rolls, including our favorites like the scallop with tobikko hand roll, hamachi, salmon, and Hawaiian roll with shiso and kaiware daikon. As someone from Japan, I can confirm that while the quality of the fish is just okay, what really sets this place apart is the fantastic service and friendly chefs. You'll leave feeling satisfied and happy, thanks to the amazing value and delicious food. Don't wait any longer - if you're craving sushi, this is the place to be! Plus, you can bring your own drinks to make it an even more exciting experience.

This place is amazing! ALYCE for $32 but remember to tip generously, they're super quick and attentive for how busy they are. Have been here about 5 times and the fish is always fresh.

Food was pretty decent quality as AYCE. I had around 4 times experience with Kats However, I couldn't stand one of their employee. I barely have good memories of Kats because of some old lady who works here. I am not sure She is wife of owner or manager something. (Whoever she is) She was always very unkind and even rude. When she just passed by us and I asked order and She didn't accept my order with just saying 'NO' and just walked away. I tried to convince myself she maybe not be our server(even though there was only 2 employees worked at the time.) However, the worst part ever was when I paid my bill and put how much tip I put, that old lady stared at pos screen, even putting her head so intensely. OBVIOUSLY, she put pressure on me, saying 'YOU BETTER LEAVE GREAT AMOUNT TIPS' First time it happened, I tried to let it slide, thinking 'I misunderstood' BUT surprisingly, it happened every sing time I visited there. And even A few of my friends felt same way, saying she is the one who makes them uncomfortable with doing same thing I have had experience. I am the person who likes sushi and eats a lots. However, Since my last visit in this year, I decided that I won't visit here ever. If this business owner happens to see this, you gotta do something with that lady.
