It's the only Cantonese in Waikiki....Chinatown is way better!

I have heard the crab here is excellent so if that is what you want, don’t let my review deter you. BUT for an American wanting to have an authentic but accessible and fresh Chinese meal, the lack of menu updates in 30 years should have been a good clue. The owner badly wanted a good review, offering her card and on call service so they do not lose their restaurant and their jobs, but all they really need is a fresh take on the classics starting with new carpet and a fresh look at the menu.

This place is amazing. We had Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken and Vegetable fried rice. It was all cooked to perfection. The portions were perfect for two people. The staff was amazing. Very very attentive to our table and tables around us. We didn’t have reservations but were seated immediately. This is one of the best meals we had in Honolulu. It was so special that maybe it was the manager that came around to our table to Thank us for coming in. You don’t see that kind of appreciation in restaurants anymore.

I had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant after moving to Hawaii, so I finally decided to go in and try it out. I’m actually at a loss of words. The food was fantastic. We ordered the Hawaii Garlic shrimp, crab and corn soup, Honey Walnut Shrimp, stir fry chicken with seasonal vegetables, and shrimp fried rice. Everything was top notch, flavorful and juicy. What really made this meal stand out in addition to the food, was the excellent attention to detail. The wait staff and Amy provided excellent service. Everything came out quickly and everyone had a smile on their face. We literally never had an empty water glass because there was always someone there to fill it. Amy made us feel so welcome, like family. We can’t wait to go back and have dinner at Kirin’s. If you are interested in having an incredible meal with great service, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Kirin’s.

Our first visit to Oahu, and we made a great discovery with Kirin Restaurant. Outstanding dim sum 11:00am to 2:00pm. Not to be missed. Seriously fresh ingredients, expertly prepared. Ready to say this might be the best dim sum we've had (and we've been to a bunch). Their location downstairs in the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort might be hard to find, but make the effort to seek them out. The waitstaff is attentive. If you get there, tell Amy we said hello. Highly recommend.

A solid and affordable (For the location) option. Their seafood options are impressive. We really enjoyed their dim sum appetizers.

More Money

Had dinner here last night and the food was super bland and very oily. The potstickers were worse than store-bought frozen ones. They have a large menu and the waitress came to the table 3 times within two minutes. Super rushed service. My dinner was no stand out, very bland, and the shrimps were very small. They also charge extra for white rice. out of the last 20 Chinese restaurants I’ve been to this was the worst. Don’t bother going here. The prices are ridiculous for such low quality taste. I spoke to some locals here in Waikiki and they said the same thing they get customers because of their location. The only good thing was they fill my water four times. I don’t recommend this place and definitely won’t be back. Please trust this review and truck and another place. Don’t waste your money here.

came to this restaurant to try and get some good chinese food but made the mistake by coming to this chinese restaurant. we ordered dumplings they were good also kung po chicken it’s was mediocre and Sichuan beef they consumed it to be spicy and it was terrible , we also ordered scallop and shrimp wrapped bacon they also were terrible . we told them we did not like the sichuan beef and did not order anything else soo they took it back and took it off our bill and then the scallop and shrimp wrap things were not food and we told them we did not like those also and the waitress tried to say she wasn’t going to take it off our bill but she ended up did taking it off but overall this restaurant is terrible , don’t come here , did not take pictures bc it was not worth it …

We stayed at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani in Waikiki, so Kirin restaurant is very close by. They have great food! We loved it, and the staff were wonderful! Qin was our sever and she was very sweet. We had Jellyfish, fried scallop, crab, and duck, and not one thing was left on our plates. I’m not a cook or Chinese so I’m not a pro on what authentic is, but this was great food. We will be back for sure on our next visit.

Uneven food, yet attentive service. Vegetable dishes well made. BBQ Pork a bit dry/overcooked. Skin on roast duck needs to be more crisp. Soup dumplings large and juicy.

I have been coming to Hawaii for at least 10-12 times already and have yet to find a good Chinese restaurant. We ate here for dinner and dim sum the next day. The food is average to below average. The service is what you would expect from any Chinese restaurant. Nothing special or great about their service. Aside from the convenience because they are located on the Waikiki strip. Go somewhere else to eat Chinese food. Avoid this place and especially Tim Ho Wan.

Very dirty place with food that is just low quality. Servers are friendly, it’s not their fault, but the food is just terrible. Careful, they include the tip in the bill. Don’t look at the carpet 😳

Mongolian beef was great. Atmosphere is old fashioned and well used. Warning, all extras cost more. Seemed like a pricey lunch..
