Yes, it was busy! Yes, it was crowded and the staff were scurrying all over the restaurant making sure everyone was served beyond expectations. The kitchen staff were ahead of the orders. We heard shouts of “Fire a gnocchi” and “Fire two garlic butter shrimp dumplings” moments after the servers turned in their orders to the chefs. It was wonderful to see, hear, and be a part of! The surprise of the evening for me was the incredible Coconut Negroni. Oh my, even for a Negroni purist this was phenomenal. We will plan our dining in Honolulu around Koko Head Cafe next time we visit.

This place has offered original and exceptional Asian fusion brunches for over a decade, and recently started offering dinners. This was my first time dining here for dinner, and they did not disappoint. The atmosphere felt more intimate and cosy, but still casual. The food flavour profiles were wonderful and unique. We had ulu flour crusted baked feta. I had pork lechon with foie gras hollandaise (that was also slightly coconutty!) and lilikoi vinaigrette. My wife got the ulu gnocchi with gochujang sauce, which was delightful, and the gnocchi surprisingly creamy and light. We tried the vanilla cruller with haupia gelato and the dark chocolate and lilikoi crémeaux for desert, and both were delicious and well balanced (not overly sweet or heavy). The dinner offerings are well-presented, though the offerings are more limited than the brunch menu. I'd still come back for another dinner, but wish I could eat breakfast or lunch here every day. This is one of my top 3 favourite restaurants on Oʻahu.

First time dining at Koko Head Cafe. The food was fabulous. We shared the smoked beets and the shrimp wontons. Both were great, the wontons were the bigger hit. We also had the steak ramen and port lechon. Both are highly recommended. We will definitely return and recommend. Service was great.

Fantastic food. I had the cornflake French toast and the eggs and chicky. Share the French toast so you can have the best of both. So yummy. Service was fantastic. Very attentive.

Loved our food. Had beets, then ceasar salad. Entrees were pork belly and gnocchi. Lilikoi. Chocolate tart to celebrate our anniversary. Thanks Lee Ann!!!!

Upon arrival I found out my reservation was for the counter without any advance notice on Open Table. Host says there's a few hiccups because dinner service just started a few weeks ago. It was our Christmas dinner AT THE COUNTER when the restaurant was 20% full at the time. Server/ Expediter promised we would have a good experience despite the seating. Ordered the Holiday Prix Fixe menu at $55 ft meatballs while my guests ordered ramen and adobo. We had one non-alcoholic drink + 2-desserts. My bill was $185.81 for 3 ppl. The service was fine based on the fact that Chef did a drive-by for everyone at the counter. Based on other chef-driven concepts in town, I will dine elsewhere.

The food here has always been outstanding--a creative fusion of East and West (and Hawaiian). For less adventurous eaters, there are more traditional items as well, but the strength of the menu is in the innovation and imagination of the blended cuisine. Service is friendly and attentive. We have enjoyed every meal we've eaten here!
