100/10 restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere were incredible. Went for an engagement dinner and I was extremely impressed with their service and hospitality. Truly made the night special. Thank you!

Great service from beginning to end. The 8 courses dinner was excellent. Everything tasted great and it was a cohesive and well executed menu.

I should have heeded Andrew Baker’s review. I could not agree more with his assessment, it is spot on. DO NOT order the 8 course menu, complete waste of time and money, what a way to ruin a birthday dinner. Gosh, it really was bad! I have eaten at countless fine dining restaurants all over the world and it really felt like the chef at La Mer was just trying way too hard….awful awful food…except the steak. Seriously…BEWARE

Most exceptional service we’ve had in years. It’s very expensive, and while the food is good, when you come to La Mer, it’s clear that you’re really paying the outstanding service and atmosphere. We had 3 attentive and friendly people waiting on us while we dined at a table overlooking the ocean. The manager came by to welcome us and congratulate us on our honeymoon. We opted to order a la carte in lieu of either tasting menu. They already noted that I was gluten free on the reservation and the chef was prepared. They gave me my own GF bread and separate butter. We had the scallops, the duck, and the filet. They were all very tasty and the presentation was beautiful, though the duck and filet were a bit chewy. Not the most outstanding of either dish I’ve eaten, but certainly enjoyable. They also gave us free GF dessert for our honeymoon and they provide each guest with their own box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts rolled in pop rocks. We were so impressed with the service that I found the manager as we were leaving to let him know.

We spent our 21st anniversary here. Super friendly staffs, amazing atmosphere, and artisan dish were all amazing. Each presentation was art in its own form. Soothing sound of waves breaking, beach view with the sunset, scent of fresh food, textures from ultra smooth to crispness, sweet, salty, tangy… all our senses were satisfied. Our seat wasn’t directly on the window due to late reservation, but staff member noticed open seat and changed our seat for dessert. Here is extra ⭐️ on top of five Google stars!

Overall I enjoyed the experience, but I think it was just because of the family. The food was good, but I found the flavors a bit inconsistent. The presentation was lovely, but the portions were somewhat small for the price. The wine selection was decent, though not extensive.

La Mer was a truly special experience. The service was impeccable and the ambiance was elegant yet relaxed. We had a beautiful view overlooking the ocean — you could even see the waves breaking at Three’s surf spot. There was a hula performance downstairs during dinner, which made the whole evening feel magical. We left feeling full, happy, and very well taken care of. An unforgettable night.

Reserved on Tock to be turned away because of dress code policy. No notice on Tock regarding this policy. Our outfits were elegantly suitable for Oahu weather. What a shame.

There is a dress code, so don’t forget to wear long pants for men.

If you’re a foodie, read this and turn around immediately. Do NOT waste your time (or money) at La Mer.
Let me save you the pain: do not order their seven-course tasting menu. Honestly, the entire experience felt like being stuck in line at the DMV for three hours—each course making you question your life choices.
We started with what I can only describe as caviar and cream nonsense. It tasted like someone found leftover cream-based soup in the fridge at midnight, topped it with fish eggs and a flower, and called it “inspired.”
Next, they served a cold duck dish on a plantain chip, with what felt like either chunks of cheese or tofu (still unsure). Honestly? I could’ve made better with a bag of Lay’s chips and a can of tuna.
The $60 salad was straight from the hotel backyard, tossed with some oil and mango. It was so uninspired, I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was handpicked that morning between housekeeping rounds.
Finally, a steak came out—which was actually decent (because it’s hard to mess up a steak). But it came with air-fried potatoes that felt a little off. I won’t knock the steak too hard—it was the highlight, which isn’t saying much.
Then came the lobster with tomato sauce. I mean… how do you ruin lobster? It was drowned in this odd, acidic sauce that made me feel bad for the poor lobster.
At this point, I felt like they were testing my limits, but no—they kept going.
Next was a French onion soup that managed to lack everything good about French onion soup. It was like they were trying to reimagine it, but forgot to bring the flavor along for the ride.
By dessert, my palate had been so abused that nothing could save it. I barely even remember what the dessert was because my taste buds had checked out hours ago.
The bread and butter? That’s what saved me from walking out hungry. Imagine that—the bread and butter were the highlight of a $700 meal.
I hope management reads this and rethinks their “tasting experience.” You are a five-star hotel charging $1,000 a night. Putting La Mer upstairs is like putting a KFC above the Ritz Carlton.
For anyone considering this: save your time, save your money, and eat somewhere else.
This was a $700 disaster masquerading as fine dining.
