Disappointed to find I could not use my Groupon as they are in the process of closing down their business. They will be missed, great Chinese food.

It's entirely decent, but not great. Serving sizes were pretty big, but dishes came at odd intervals. Shrimp dish and steamed fish were very good. General Tso's chicken was not like it is prepared elsewhere (sauce was red and spicy, not soy-based, no broccoli). Jasmine tea was fairly weak. I think this restaurant is for sale.

"Another one bites the dust." Hate to do these "short-term usefulness" type reviews because the restaurant in question is going to close but... Lung Fung has been a family favorite from the 80s, even before they moved from Kalihi to its present location in Niu Valley. This was our go to Chinese restaurant when we lived in Hawaii Kai. When we didn't feel like picking up some Chinese Kau Kau in Kaimuki town, we would do so at Lung Fung. The one thing that always made dining there a pleasure was the friendly and courteous service of the servers. Over the years we never had problems with the service. The food could be hit or miss but was usually quite good. Pricing was on the higher end of the neighborhood chop suey houses. We always enjoyed their capital pork chops, honey walnut shrimp (lighter on the mayo) and the dry beef with chow fun. We also always enjoyed their dishes that had choy sum as they always cooked it perfectly for us- just the right amount of stem and leaves and not over cooked. They used to serve fried peanuts as an appetizer, a treat you never see now days. My parents always enjoyed dining there and we would take them there over the years. I remember memorable parties, the bachelor party prelude dinners- and that's all I'm going to say about that. Today we realized they were closing on Sunday of this weekend (May 20, 2018) so as we have done with too many other favorite places, we decided to bid adieu to an old friend. So if you have enjoyed eating there in the past, come to visit them in the weekend present because soon in the near future they will be gone.

The best place for Chinese cuisine, always very tasty and delicious. Sad to say that they will be closing at the end of May.

This is a very good Chinese restaurant !!! It's a little more expensive than other places but they don't use MSG and their food still tastes great. So far I've eaten their crispy gau gee mein, soft gau gee mein and the minute chicken cake noodle and all three were excellent. I think that if you're in the mood for quality Cantonese Chinese food then the trek out to Niu Valley is worth the trip. The service has been very friendly and efficient !!!

Love the Singapore Noodles - rice noodles with very fragrant spices, a bit of fresh chopped veg, a few shrimp and a little bit of pork. So yummy! Lange enough service for about 4 lunches/snacks for me.

We had a party here and food was great, we had everything from seafood to beef, pork, chicken and veggies, all dishes were a hit!something for everyone. Our waitress Nancy is a great addition to this restaurant. She does her job well but is also a lot of fun!! I highly recommend Lung Fung!..

This is a terrific Chinese restaurant! The flight fish was very fresh and delicious. We also had the orange chicken which was obviously Super Fresh. The hot and sour soup was amazing! Spicy, and Hardy! Terrific service, and very clean environment. I have an allergy to MSG, and they do not add MSG... the servers were very alert to make sure that I knew that some sauces have MSG, but they do not add it. I didn't have any problems, so no MSG :-). Terrific restaurant. You'll be glad you came!

Moving to Honolulu from New York City, I thought every Chinese restaurant was open on Christmas Day. Much to my surprise, all of my favorite places were closed! Since I was picking up my friend in Aina Haina, I asked her to choose one near her, so Lung Fung it was. This is a pleasant place to go; the servers were all very patient and quickly everything we asked for came out hot and with minimal waiting time. Waters were promptly refilled. Now we get to the important part, the food.... Honestly, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food. It tasted fine and we ordered nothing fancy. I don't know where my dissatisfaction comes from, but I just didn't find the food very tasty. For the 2 of us, we had honey walnut shrimp, sweet sour pork, eggplant in gravy with white rice, char siu fried rice, vegetables with cake noodle, and egg rolls. Yes, we ordered that for 2 people and sampled all of it. My favorite was the vegetables over cake noodle. Everything else was whatever you could find anywhere. I'd go if I happened to be in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. Honolulu has a great reputation for good Chinese food, so I give this place 3 stars for great service and okay food.

A friend ordered a fixed menu for a small dinner party. They substituted one item, so that is possible. Food was very good. Selections were great, and portions were more than adequate for our table of 9. The fish fillets were my favorite, but nothing was disappointing. Service was very good. Nice, clean restaurant with clean restrooms. Increasingly popular spot among locals, for good reason. Great location near Hawaii Kai.

First, I have to say, the steamed fish with ginger sauce and green onions is awesome. But make sure you check your receipt. I read a previous review that they may over charge you, and for the life of me, I can't imagine Chinese food costing this much. I tried to reconcile with their take out menu and just concluded that we were charged for an extra dish we did not buy.

This is a hidden gem in Niu Valley for Chinese food. It's a great combination of contemporary and old world local style "chop suey house." The walnut shrimp and some other contemporary Chinese dishes were as good or better than that served at restaurants popular with younger Chinese people like Fook Yuen etc. Yet local people will truly enjoy the nostalgia of dishes like crispy gau gee.

Make sure you check your receipt and your food. They will either over charge you or give you the wrong food. The person in front of me got the wrong food that they ordered and the worker was trying to convince her that's what she ordered and then I ordered a Chinese chicken salad which shows on the menu that it's $6 and I check my receipt she charged me $12 for salad. Ridiculous! First and last time I'll be going to this place.
