Have you ever been here? I have walked by drunk or going to be drunk many times. It is a hole in the wall that only has lunch service and only take out. To be here that long they must be doing something right. The food was so good. I got the Chile Verde Wet Burrito. It is so ono. Will be heading there more for lunch!

Good food for reasonable price although it's take out only, but one of the better Mexican food here in Hawaii

This is the spot downtown if you are looking for damn good Mexican food. If you see this place open.... treate yourself to authentic Mexican food that is hard to find on Island. I recently got the Carne asada taco plate with rice and beans added and it made my Thursday. BTW rice is served with carrots and potatoes mixed in rice and I highly recommend it.

Be aware, they are "temporarily closed". I ordered online and Square Pay accepted and processed the payment for my order. The text message I received from Square said that my order would be ready at 12:45 pm. So, I walked to the restaurant only to find that it was closed and there was a sign in the window that said "We closed temporarily. We will open again. We apologies (sp) for hte inconvenience. Thank you for your supporting. God Bless You. It is time for a break." I guess someone forgot to stop the online ordering process. I hope I am able to get a refund. So far, neither the restaurant or Square Pay has responded to my emails and texts and of course, there is no one at the restaurant to answer the phone, plus the recording says the voicemail has not been set up yet so I cannot leave a voice message.

This review is a long time coming. The Maria Bonita restaurant is our best and most authentic choice for a Mexican taqueria, that my wife and I, found on the Island. Sort of makes sense to me, being that you would find it in downtown; that's usually where the best food tends to be. While my wife (Mexican/Salvadorian) and I (mixed race) lived in Oahu from 2015 - 2019 and would always miss/ crave good authentic Mexican food. My wife cooks a mean Mexican meal but even she had her cravings for a good taqueria. It was our luck of fulfilling our cravings and finding Maria Bonita while walking around during a festival (I don't remember which festival, there were many hosted in downtown.) Not a large menu but we enjoyed every bite. The carne asada and chicken in the tacos had so much flavor and just the right spice. The rice was on point with the savory flavor. We will be making a return visit after four years and look forward to seeing if our love for Maria Bonita will stand with time.

The food is delicious. The menu is way too big (too many choices). $5 for a Coke (no joke, $5) is just ridiculous. I had the camarones a la diabla, which were spicy and tasty, but they were served on skewers, which was difficult to eat, and I was expecting (hoping for) some sauce. The corn tortillas were fantastic.

First time eating here. Not bad at all. Burrito was huge. I literally ate the whole thing. One of those "hole in the wall" places.

We have waited for 90 minutes after we ordered the food.It arrived, but only one order and one fork arrived. Also we ordered two Margaritas with a little salt. We got a ton of salt on our Margaritas. We are so over thus place. How about zero stars?
