This is Korean-style kimchi. The meat is delicious, you don't have to worry about tipping, and considering the cost of living in Waikiki, it's great. It suits Korean tastes well.

Hi Jambo

I've been here like 10 times. It has changed a bit over the last couple of years, but it's still good. Big ol' satisfying plate of meat with rice. Soak up them juices.

We came here in December of 2022 and the food was amazing and the portion sizes were huge. We came today (Jan 8 2023) and we're very disappointed. I broke bithe the plastic knife and fork trying to cut the steak that was 40% inedible fat anyway. The rice was so overcooked it was almost mush. We would never go back or recommend!

Meataly Boys was another spot I got to check out at the Waikiki Food Hall. This spot specializes in Hawaiian and Japanese dishes. We tried the Yakinku Beef Plate, Spicy Chicken Plate as well s the Pork Chop Plate. Our entrees all came with rice and salad. Overall the plates were very fulfilling and also good for sharing. I did think the beef was slightly on the oily side and enjoyed the chicken more. When we came here; they were having a bit of trouble getting the credit card reader to work but despite the wait; service was good and they were polite. Overall enjoyed a good hearty meal here!

Had the Special Combo Plate DX. Spicy chicken was my favorite and good portions as well! Reviews mention a lack of communication between a separate ordering counter and the actual vendor. No longer the case, you order at their booth.

The 29th each month, $10 steak But no more, it's ended July 2023. If you want this plate, they don't serve anymore. 29 pronounce NIKU=steak by Japanese A lots of YouTuber are up this 29th promotion plate but it is ended already The taste of steak the below average I don't recommend this restaurant

Here's the good: a wonderful history, location and grounds. Ready for the rest? Okay, here we go.... 1. No room service 2. Majority of staff is indifferent, at best 3. Late checkout request generated three different responses from three different people 4. Rented umbrella set for the duration of our stay ($77/day) and were appalled one day when we went down and a full concert stage, huge speakers, and theater lights were erected on the lawn - 10 feet from my chair - and then a full rehearsal began with loud music and speaking broadcasting to the entire beach at 9:00 am (I imagine the folks trying to sleep in rooms adjoining the lawn loved that) NO refund allowed because that requires 48 hour notice. Are you kidding me? If you told people 48 hours prior that there would be a rehearsal concert and show, we would of had time to cancel (or go buy earplugs) 5. We were assigned to a room with a connecting door. The people next door were traveling with two screaming teenagers. They slammed the door to the lanai so hard all hours of the night that we woke up startled. Management was notified and, assume they did nothing since the noise continued all week. 6. Housekeeping replenishment was very inconsistent. No washcloths one day, no water another day. In the shower one day I discovered there was no more body wash. Had to stop my shower and wait for it to come up. 7. Furniture seems a little worn and the lanai did not appear to be freshened up or swept during our (9 night) stay 8. Rented a car for one night and literally had to argue for self-parking. They tried all they could to have us use valet (more $, of course) 9. Restaurants did not offer an appealing menu, so we never dined on site Will not return. Absolutely not worth the money.

The Royal Hawaiian is not five star anymore. The hotel is a little bit tired and in need of renovation. Our room staff was very good, but the amenities on site are really lacking. The pool is a disaster, it has 60 chairs for 550 rooms. There is a fight every morning to get a spot even at 7:00 a.m. the main bar Mai Tai is disconnected from the pool and the surf Lanai and Azure restaurant separate the pool and the bar. You can't get breakfast in the hotel after 10:30 and what was formerly pool deck area has not been converted into an outside Lanai that remains unused from 10:30 in the morning until 5:00 p.m. in my opinion the hotel is understaffed and the servers that we encountered at Mai Tai were indifferent. If I were looking for a luxury vacation I think I'd pick a place other than the Royal Hawaiian

We stayed at the Royal Hawaiian for 5 nights from August 1 to August 6. I used Marriott Bonvoy points for one of the nights and booked the rest through Priceline, 1 room for 2 adults and 2 children (myself, my wife, my 10 year old daughter, and my 7 year old daughter) and 1 room for my mother in law and father in law. We were given two garden view rooms side by side in the Historic Wing on the second floor, rooms 239 and 240. The rooms each had a view of the property which we really enjoy. The only real concern in the Historic Wing is the lack of a balcony but we really love staying in the Historic Wing and it's something we were willing to do without, but I can imagine that many would prefer the balconies in the Mailani Tower. We were a bit worried before the trip if we would have enough space as in our previous visit we stayed in two junior suites, but there was plenty of room for us and I think our bathroom in this room was actually bigger than the bathroom we had in the junior suite. The rooms have very tall ceilings which make them feel even more spacious. The hotel reached out in advance of our stay to welcome us and asked if we had any questions and they were able to make sure my reservations were linked and even provided drink tickets for my father in law's 75 birthday which we found to be very kind and considerate. Marissa made us feel very welcome and definitely allayed our concerns before we arrived which was greatly appreciated! When we first got to our room we were greeted by the housekeeper who would be taking care of our room and she was so warm and kind and did a wonderful job. Every staff member we came across went out of their way to make us feel valued as guests. We made use of the hotel's pool and my daughters loved the Helumoa Family Pool that the hotel shares with the Sheraton Waikiki. They were often crowded and it was always difficult to find a pool chair but luckily with the girls we basically just drop off a bag and kick off our flip flops and jump in the pools so we never really needed much space anyway. We headed out to Waikiki Beach every day as well and this was our first time in August so the ocean was pretty crowded but we all still had a great time. We love the variety of restaurants in Waikiki and the Royal Hawaiian is in a great location to get everywhere pretty quickly. We attended the Aha'aina Laua while we were there on Thursday night and really loved the storytelling aspect of the show. The food was good and the location can't be beat. We've stayed at a few other hotels in Waikiki and we came back here for a reason - everything about this place just feels right to us. The Royal has so much character, charm, and history and we loved every minute of our stay here.

First day we ate at the hotel’s beach front restaurant for breakfast. Our server was great, he was very accommodating! I wish I had gotten his name. 2nd day we ate there again, this time for dinner. This was me and my wife’s 25th year anniversary dinner. Our waitress Laura L was not so accommodating, hardly came back to check on us. Had to ask another waitress to get us more water. Asked for a manager, but never came, so we decided to leave. But they make sure to tack in 19% gratuities in our bill for her poor customer service. Thats not how it should be, gratuity needs to be earned on my book. Food is small portions and overpriced.

One of the worst food during our trip. Ordered the steak combo as seen on the picture menu and got all fat and no flavor steak. Pictures shows it comes with rice and two sausage and my steak was on a bed of lettuce with no sausage. I first thought we got the wrong ordered or someone else order so when I asked and pointed out what I ordered they said yes that's what you got. I showed them what I received and due to the language barrier even the chef seemed confused. We won't be returning as this place was not worth the $20 price point for a catfished meal. If your craving or seeking these type of food, save yourself the money and headache.
