Small kiosk serving expensive but tasty Japanese confections. Selection is smaller than their main store at Ala Moana.
Was just in there today and got a couple sweet treats. The young lady that was there helped me decide what I wanted and explained to me what things were! I wouldn’t have been able to do it without her. Then possibly the owner, another very nice lady, gave us 2 free sweets and took our picture in front of a beautiful wall. 10/10 experience and highly recommend stopping in!
When you’re looking for legit Japanese goodies to treat yourself or give as gifts, this is place to come to. Whenever I come to Kahala Mall, I make a beeline to this standalone kiosk to check out the latest offerings. With locations in Japan, New York and California, Minamoto specializes in wagashi, Japanese confections made with seasonal fresh fruit. On the day after Girl’s Day, they were sold out of the strawberry mochi boxes, but thankfully they still had several Sakura treats to try. Here’s what we tried in the order we sampled them:Sakura Goromo (Sakura Pancake): sweet bean paste, mochi and pickled cherry blossom leaf wrapped encased taco style in a pink pancake similar in texture to the Ethiopian bread injera but not as chewy. It was the most IG worthy, but there were more flavorful treats in the bunch.Ouka Shigure: steamed flour and egg yolk cake filled with cherry blossom infused white bean. Very delicate flavor, with a small cherry blossom on top.Sakura Mochi: this was a flavor bomb, due to the salted cherry blossom leaves wrapped around mochi rice and sweet red bean paste. My fave of the bunch.Beni Hogyoku: my second fave, glad I ended the tasting with this sweet, soft mochi encasing white bean paste and a whole cherry that was pickled in sugar.I gravitate toward the mochi, but I’m sure the baumkuchen cakes are just as amazing.
A little pricey but delicious and high quality products and friendly service.
I'd give them 11 Stars if I could , amazing treats, by far my favorite shop in Kahala when I'm in town.
If you have been to and enjoyed food, especially things like mochi, many and other sweet delicacies, you will also love the offerings here. The presentation, when you walk into the store, takes you back you the department stores of Japan, if you have had that experience before. The three pieces I had were great!
Great gluten free choices
Due to covid, no cash accepted. Cc/dc payment only, they also accept applepay✌
Back in business, yay!
They have jewelery.
