Good place near the airport. Very high prices for rapidly small portions.... Welcome to Hawaii.
The fresh scallops are always tasty here. Byob.
This place was a surprise to me. It was in an industrial area near the airport and if you wouldn't know it was a restaurant. It looked like a warehouse or shop from the outside. They had a very extensive menu. I opted for a light dinner, salmon belly bento. It came with 3 pieces and was sufficient enough for me. Cooked just right, moist but not rubbery or dry. Highly recommend it.
Wasn’t great. Food was alright. Fish was fresh. Our bill plus tip was $1050. For a party of 7 adults. and 3 kids that barely ate anything. It was not worth it. Our server didn’t make it comfortable for me to ask her for things. You can go somewhere else and get a way better experience. For a better price.
We visited Mitch’s on the recommendation of friends and, to be honest, weren’t really sure what to expect.
Situated amongst warehouses just beyond the bounds of Honolulu Airport, they certainly offered first impressions very different to other sushi places we’ve been to on Oahu, but the welcome was warm and we were soon tucking into our toriaezu beers - an excellent Lanikai IPA. Mitch’s is BYOB so you can choose what to drink with your sushi. After beers we enjoyed a couple of wonderful sakes, selected with the help of the knowledgeable staff at The Sake Shop in Kaka’ako.
Anyway, I digress. The raw oysters had unfortunately sold out but this was more than compensated for by an excellent selection of sashimi.
We also ordered a large variety of nigiri, highlights including the uni, toro & hamachi.
The atmosphere was friendly, service speedy and friendly and the fish just delicious.
Okay, it’s a bit of a journey (~25 mins from Waikīkī) but it’s well, well worth the trip.
We’ve already been back.
We had the omakase for two. Everything was really good, but the best item was the ootoro sashimi and nigiri
Delicious fresh fish served in simple Japanese style!
May2025 Authentic and fresh sushi 🍣 and Japanese cuisine near the airport.
The place has a fishmonger feel with a relaxed Japanese pub style.
Food servings are ample and the variety offered shows that the ingredients are fresh.
Service is standard and friendly
Ideal for all types of diners but more for small groups
We stayed at the Airport Honolulu Hotel for one night and wanted something in walking distance. This place popped up on Google Maps, and it was amazing. Fantastic sushi- get the maguro tuna. California roll is made with real crab, the unagi is delicious, and the spicy salmon hand roll was wonderful. From the outside, this place seems odd, but it's a true hole-in-the-wall and 1000% worth every penny.
Great food 👍 Definitely come the first few hours they're open. Got there at around 7:15pm after work for a birthday dinner and a few things that we wanted to try were sold out. Favorites from what we ordered were the hamachi and chutoro sashimi, kinmedai sushi and tamago sushi. If you're seated near the room where they're washing dishes, it is a bit loud. Overall would come back to try the sold out items!
Great sushi just a quick walk away from the airport during a layover
