Mud Hen Water had one of the more unique menus out of all the places we ate in Hawaii, with dishes that were an interesting fusion of Japanese, traditional Hawaiian, and many other cuisines. My favorite dish was the handmade pasta with venison, which was absolutely delicious and caused my wife to almost abandon her meal to try and eat mine. Hers was also fantastic, a crispy chicken dish that was tender, well-seasoned and really juicy. With excellent service, great food, and a laid-back atmosphere, Mud Hen Water is a strong recommendation for anyone in the Honolulu area looking for a unique dinner spot.

Absolutely delicious!! I haven't had the desire to eat here, but I have no idea why because everything was amazing!! Park on the street in the neighborhood and walk to the restaurant is the best bet because the tiny lot behind is difficult. My friends and I ordered basically half the menu: pohole, peanut tofu, long rice croquette, mapo tofu with teokbokki, veal meatball with polenta, lemongrass sausage with clams, and hand cut pasta. I loved literally every dish. The 2 that were not as good were the sausage and clams only because it's a broth with bread. It was still good but the other dishes were phenomenal. Also the polenta and meatballs were ok. The sauce was tasty with the meatballs though. My absolute repeats are the pohole salad, mapo tofu, hand cut pasta, and the croquette. The dessert was a kiawe bean brownie with black sesame gelato! I that the brownie had some salt in it and the black sesame was rich. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and service was quick. The food came out fairly quickly and they paced the main dishes to come later. I can't wait to come back and eat here again!!

Whenever we come over to Honolulu we try to make it a priority to visit Mud, Hen, Water. It's a neighborhood restaurant off the beaten track of most Waikiki tourist so we feel like part of the local community. The food is fresh and healthy not laden with heavy sauces that disguise the true flavor of the food. Only wish Town was still open. Thank you for providing a healthy tasty alternative to most restaurants in the area.

Loved the vibes here! We sat outside and had cute group picnic table setting. The food had such good flavors with mixes of different cuisines. Drinks were unique mixes especially the chai one. The workers were extremely friendly and wanted to help make our experience perfect for my friend's birthday.

Delicious food and the service from Shawn was beyond. Made our night with his recommendations, great energy, and attentiveness. Make sure you get here on your visit to the area.

I came to Mud Hen Water after seeing the restaurant featured on Somebody Feed Phil. The experience surpassed all expectations. Come with a group to order as many items on the menu as possible. Buttered Ulu and the Chicken Croquettes were two of our favorites that night. Our waiter Shawn made amazing recommendations and made sure we had a great experience. Couldn't recommend this restaurant more!

This restaurant has a talented chef and staff with some unique and delicious dishes. The menu is designed to allow tasting and sharing a number of their creations. Everything I ordered was wonderful and surprising. I found myself Googling 'Ulu later to find a way to make this dish myself! There was only one flaw in the evening and that was a young woman at the bar near our table who decided it was a good idea to bring a very obnoxious pug dog that randomly let out a piercing shriek throughout our meal, startling us every time and truly making it hard to ignore. The dog was miserable and nervous, the owner spoiled and clueless. Too bad the staff didn't choose to put other customers enjoyment over this neurotic dog and owner.

I recently celebrated my wife's birthday at Mud Hen Water on Wai’alae, and it was an exceptional experience. We opted for the j Ludovico fried chicken and the big 5 veggie sampler, which included breadfruit, salads, pohole, and roasted 'n raw carrots. Each dish was executed flawlessly, with the chicken being juicy and bursting with flavor, and the veggies delicate yet delicious. The miso-butterscotch bread pudding for dessert was a sweet and savory delight, providing the perfect conclusion to our meal. Overall, Mud Hen Water exceeded our expectations and made my wife's birthday truly memorable. Highly recommended for any special occasion or simply for a fantastic dining experience. The service was also excellent.

Our favorite restaurant in all of Oahu! We ate there 3 times in two weeks and can't wait to go back. Service is great and the food is the absolute star. The vibe is all things homey, foodie, local, and worldly.

Friendly staff. Amazing food. Chill environment. Hash is a must. Kimchi is perfectly pickled and not too spicy. The jam and fresh bread is delightful! The pancakes are shareable and perfectly cooked.

The food is what gives this place a 5!!! It's been the best meal I've had in Oahu since I've been here this past year. Every dish was phenomenal; start to finish; appies, mains, to the desserts. The service started a little slow, as it took about fifteen minutes to get our drink order in. Might just be staffing issues? After that however everything fell into place nicely.I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for local Hawaiian-infusion farm-to-table eats.I'll be definitely coming back!!!

Honestly, not sure how this place doesn't have consistent 5 stars. We visit Hawaii a few times a year and we never ever miss an opportunity to eat here. We go with a crowd of 6-8 and literally order the entire menu each time. They even make a delicious bowl of noodles for the keikis ( kids) that want something simple. It is off menu but be sure to ask about it. We always dine al fresco and love the peekaboo mountain views between the buildings but the interior is quaint and clean and staff is incredibly friendly. Can't wait to visit again soon!

Mud Hen Water is an excellent restaurant. The staff was welcoming, the service was very good and the food was delicious! It's location in Kaimuki is convenient and there is parking behind the restaurant, or street parking.
