Saw in bon appetit. Japanese deli. Owner starts prepping the food. Cross between southern food and Asian. Try the panko crusted furikake chicken and collard greens.

Stopped by on a Saturday around 11:15. My first time here and it sure was busy. There's a small table that can seat 4 people. Most were take out. We decided to eat inside. The prices are reasonable. I think my order was about $10 and I picked 4 items. The food was good, but the items in the cabinet are cold. I bit into the garlic chicken and was disappointed by the temperature. In the future, I will bring it home and pop it in the oven.

I live a few blocks away and pass a dozen restaurants on the way here. Not only is it cheaper than all of them, the food has never been short of amazing. Juiciest meat downtown. Staff is always quick, friendly, and helpful.

Been wanting to try here, so finally went for the first time, located on Nuuanu Ave, right around the corner from Tiger Sugar/Papa Johns; get street/metered parking right out front. All I seen was a couch, and one table for 4 for people to sit. I picked a bunch of food, gotta have furikake rice, got hash, Teri hotdog, some fish cake, and bbq chicken. Brought my food home to share with my sister. And the food was blehhh.. it was alright. My sister liked the hash and chicken. I liked the chicken and rice. Would I go there again, probably not. I like Fukuya and Gulick Deli

Nu'uanu Okazuya is a small, family-owned Japanese restaurant located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The restaurant has been in business for over 50 years and is known for its delicious okazuya (Japanese homestyle cuisine). The menu at Nu'uanu Okazuya features a wide variety of dishes, including bento boxes, noodle dishes, and rice plates. Some of the most popular dishes include the chicken katsu, the teriyaki chicken, and the Spam musubi. The restaurant also has a variety of desserts, including mochi and ice cream. The food at Nu'uanu Okazuya is consistently good. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. The service is also excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive and always willing to make recommendations.Overall, Nu'uanu Okazuya is a great place to go for a delicious and affordable Japanese meal. Tasty, but too expensive at $15.95 for a bunch of fish cakes, spicy fried chicken, butter melon, croquette, and mac salad (no rice). Sounds like a lot of food, but look at the photo! Before starting, I kept thinking I should’ve gone to L&L instead for some freshly prepared hot food.Turns out, fish cakes were just ok, but the spicy fried chicken, mac salad, and croquette were excellent. The best was the butter melon, though. Docked one star for the high price.I might return to try some of their other dishes.

Nuuanu Okazuya is the best. There are so many choices to select from. Check out the photo that I posted. Cone sushi is always moist and tasty. Musubi, butterfish, chicken, shrimp tempura, and the delicious kombu maki are all winners. Nuuanu Okazuya is conveniently located on Nuuanu Avenue. Street parking is located right outside the Okazuya. Everyone is so nice. The interior of the Okazuya is nice and cozy. Be sure to check it out.

Found this spot on the 5 stars app. Went in the morning before work and was surprised at the amount of different options available. Ended up trying almost one of everything including a few different kinds of fishcake, chorizo, and their famous chicken katsu. The katsu had kind of a vinegar marinade and was topped with furikake. It was an interesting flavor. The prices were pretty reasonable, but the food overall was not super amazing. I'm glad I tried it, but am not in a hurry to go back. The service was ok, but no one was happy or smiling.

Mrs, daughter and I were starving after a long dr's appointment. Ordered cone sushi, shoyu pork, kimpira, corned beef hash, konbu Maki and chow funn. We were disappointed with the shoyu pork which was shredded and lacked flavor. Chow funn was plain with little else but noodles. The kimpira was very spicy so Mrs couldn't eat due to acid reflux. Good flavor for the cone sushi. Konbu Maki was OK as were the hash patties.Kabuki okazuya obviously the best..

Was hoping for more based on some reviews I saw. But was a bit disappointed. Things are on the pricy side as we spent over $25 for two plates which included fried saimin, chow fun, green beans, three cone sushi, two teri burger, 2 hot dogs and one potato hash. We came around 10:30ish and some things were almost gone. The food was ok- I've made way better okazuya food lol or tasted better from elsewhere. The chow fun was literally noodles and green onions with several pieces of bean sprouts and no taste. I think the tastiest thing I got was the teri burger, it's so tiny tho you need two. There was street parking in front when we got there. Not sure how it is during busy lunch rush. Maybe I'll come back to try the won ton as the photo I saw looked good.
