Love getting shoyu chicken from here. It's not overly sweet like other places and you get pretty big thighs. Owners are really nice as well.

First off, it's a cash only restaurant so make sure to hit the ATM first if you need to. They serve Japanese food with a local Hawaii style. My go to is the toriten namban with mac salad, but their karaage chicken and curry are great, too. It's a sparse space with just a few tables for dine in, but the lady running the front counter is very nice.

Really great spot for some chicken katsu! The owners are very friendly, I felt like I was in their home being cooked this meal.

Was staying nearby and decided to come here for a meal. Was not disappointed! Ordered the Toriten Namban and it was delicious. The sauce was great and the chicken was fresh. Will be missing this place once I leave.

Ono Japanese food, very reasonably priced. I had the tempura mix and it was just the right size. A skosh bit overdone and the dipping sauce was a little too sweet for my taste, but the other dishes that people ordered looked super ono. Clean Fort Street mall hole in the wall with a very pleasant and efficient obasan. I'll be back.

Little hole in the wall place on Fort Street Mall across The Residences at Bishop Place. Cash only, but very tasty food. This mini is small, but just right for me and everything was Ono! Meat was tender, vegetables crisp, sauce just right, rice perfectly made and even Mac salad had no strange Mayo! I highly recommend!! If you want a bigger portion, don't buy the mini. But it's just perfect for me.

This spot never fails. It's always so delicious and the prices are decent. A small mom and pop place that serves a variety of Japanese and local favorites. You'll see Kastu don, BBQ chicken curry, oyako don, fried saimin, Chicken Toriten, and many more. I've only seen a Japanese lady who's super friendly in the front and I always feel like I'm in Japan. She brings out the plate and will show us the food before she outs them in a bag. Of course, I find myself bowing to her as I leave. When you're in downtown, go check it out.

This place is another staple! My favorite is the Tonkatsu Don. Super fast and friendly service, the food is delicious and affordable. Another thing I gotta hand them is the consistency in the way they make the food! The rice is always cooked the same and the food is always the way I expect it to be. I haven't had any days where I get my food and notice anything different, which earns A LOT of points from me!

The owners of this mom & pop place are from Oita Prefecture in Japan. They offer a selection of tasty Japanese favorites at very reasonable prices.

Small place in middle of Fort Street Mall. Food is reasonably priced. My favorite is the ahi belly katsu curry with side of kim Chee at $11.50. Cannot go wrong for the price, very delicious. My friend said the mini loco moco for $8 bucks as one of the best he's had. Friendly and nice Japanese workers whom speak fluent Japanese which helps me practice my Japanese. Place is clean am with a few chairs and tables for seating. Parking may be a issue dilute to downtown busy streets. O park at metered parking and walk over to pick up previous phone order.
