The food is pretty good, not super exciting but the tuna tasted fresh. It's hot in there, not well air conditioned.

Food was good but service not so much. They were very nice to Japanese tourists tho.

Must be a coupon on the Japanese guide book. Food was sub-mediocre and the portions small for the price. The only saving grace is that the staff was friendly and really hustled.

Ok atmosphere I guess. If you look closely, a lot of the place is dirty and dusty. The steak I ordered was ordered medium rare, and I received it almost well done. The pasta salad was dry and bland. There is no need to tip as they don’t give any traditional service. They even make you separate your own trash for them. I won’t be going back. For the price; it was Not worth it.

Super locals vibe. Japanese plate lunches focus on one meat- or fish-based entree, served with one scoop choice of white, brown, mixed grain or shiso wakame rice as well as pesto pasta salad.

Miso Butterfish is pan-roasted and delicately seasoned with not just miso, but also butter and mirin. Texture and flavor reminiscent of black cod.

Order at the window before entry. Portion sizes are manageable for one, and unlikely to result in food coma — a plus, if an action-packed day ahead.

Japanese can be overheard from cooks bustling in the kitchen behind saloon doors. Quirky interior of wood surfaces, vintage surf boards and framed collage art. A neighborhood general store vibe, with souvenirs and Aloha shirts available for purchase.

Been a couple of times over 5,6 years and the amount has become smaller, of coursebut $15 for a bento is still a good price around here. Taste is guaranteed. Nowadays order outside through a window and wait for the food to be ready inside. There wasn't even jars of water to pour by yourself. Better before. At least the cashier, young guy, was friendly.

Delicious food for the price! Definitely worth the walk from Waikiki. The curry has big pork belly pieces and is a steal for $5 as a side. The mochiko chicken and the loco moco are our favorites.

Little hole in the wall place. Order outside to go or stay. Small indoor seating area. Very good lunch. We had the mochiko chicken and garlic Cajun shrimp. Very ample portions. Two meals and two drinks for $38 so very affordable. About a half mile walk from waikiki beach, or take the waikiki trolley.
