The best ramen in Oahu! The spicy Dan Dan ramen can’t be missed..

Gyoza was on point, and the ramen was amazing…

Solid 4-1/2 stars after several visits. We came quite a few times during their grand opening to take advantage of their free ramen/curry offer. Thus, we got to try many of the dishes. My favorite is their classic ramen. Rich (but not too rich) broth. Huge plus that it comes with an egg, along with menma (bamboo shoots), bean sprouts, mushrooms, and pork char sui. Hubby and I both agree that the pork is by far the best of any ramen restaurant. Good-sized pieces with a delicious balance of fat and meat...so yum!!! Hubby has tried the tan tan (better elsewhere), the black garlic (his usual go to, but too rich for my stomach to handle), and their special with everything in it (better have a big appetite). For appetizers, you pretty much can't go wrong with choosing anything from their menu. However, strongly recommend the chicken katsu. It's juicy and crispy, not oily, and is served with cabbage and a small (and I mean like 1-2 bites small) scoop of Japanese-style potato salad. Other noteworthy points: Happy hour from 2:00-5:00 with appetizer specials. Service is quick and friendly. Our server remembered us from their grand opening and was happy to see us return. Prices are ok, but I guess comparable if I have to buy an egg to add to my ramen at other places. Free - but can be tight - parking available in the lot or search surrounding streets. Overall, a fantastic ramen restaurant in our Kapahulu neighborhood!

If you are looking for Hokkaido flavor ramen, this is the place to go. These Japanese chefs really know what is takes to make Japan quality ramen. I always order a ramen with the Tonkotsu both because of the full flavor without a lot of sodium unlike most ramen shops in Hawaii. Yes, it's not cheap and not huge,,, but if you try it,, certainly you will be there often.

Ordered take out from this restaurant recently during COVID - everyone working in the restaurant had masks on, but the seating indoors was not super well spaced out, so we opted for take out instead. Anyways, the food was amazing! I got the spicy tonkatsu ramen. The broth was super creamy and delicious, the noodles were nice and stringy yet filling. It was very filling and flavorful. The service staff were also super friendly and courteous as well. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a quality ramen shop! TIP: parking is limited!

We ordered Takeout during our short couple of days in Hawaii. The ramen was some of the best I've ever had (and that includes ramen I've had in Japan, China and New York City). Highly recommend!

Its name aptly describes the ramen here - it is ono! Ono-ya Ramen is located in a strip mall on Kapahulu Avenue near Zippy's. Look for Papa John's or Kapaulu X-press Laundromat and turn into the parking lot. We ordered the shoyu ramen chicken katsu combination and spicy ahi combination. There may be an upcharge if you substitute a different ramen. Both were winners. There was a kick in the spicy ahi. Service was A+. Grand opening week featured 25% off. It's definitely ono, yeah!

Ono-Ya formerly in the Shirokiya Village Walk- Ala Moana has officially now moved to 611 Kapahulu Ave, the corner of Ho'Olulu St, and Kapahuluu Ave. ph. 808-425-4415, open from 11-10:00 P.M. M-Sun. in the same building as the fronting Kapahulu street side facing PP John's Pizza. And in the event, you are wondering where to park within this crowded business, and residential area, fear not as there is about a dozen or so free parking stalls to be shared with the Pizza, Laundromat, and Ono-Ya all available up front. During their grand opening week beginning 3-01/3-07-2021 they are offering FREE for the 1st 20 customers per day, your choice of Ramen or Curry entrée, in addition they are also offering ALL menu items @ a 25% off discount should you wish to order an extra entrée. The wait staff was nice, courteous, & knowledgeable, and upon asking the waitresses who greeted me @ the front, if their FREE entrée deal was for dine in only, or is the offer for takeout orders as well? She checked in the back and came back to mention that the 1 FREE Ramen, or Curry entrée is for dining in only. They have a nicely well-designed hard covered 3 hole bound, with a nice laminated picturesque menu page offering of the many different meal choices from Appetizers, Kids menu, Customize Your Bowls (Ramen), Ramen, Signature Ramen, Tonkatsu Ramen, Combo Sets, Curry, Vegan Ramen choices, and even desserts. Although, one caveat is that the menu price printed are exceptionally light? The 8 or so 4 top tables around the dining area are socially distanced apart, with even 5 upfront counter bar style seats to oversee the kitchen action, where the local bi-lingual wait staff will also attend to your needs should you wish to have a after hour drink with your meal. Upon asking my waiter if he had any recommendations, he pointed out their Tonkatsu Spicy Miso Ramen. Agreeing, I also order 1 for takeout for my other half perhaps for lite din. din. Although, as much as the Ramen sounded and even looked delicious with the Corn Kernels, Bean Sprouts, Green Onions, as well as the seared Pork Belly Cha Siu half slivers, and their deep bone Miso "Tonkatsu" Pork flavors Dashi I found the taste was good. Although, I did not find the Dashi to be as rich in Pork Bone flavors as I am accustomed to tasting. Also, just as FYI, if you are viewing the "Tonkatsu Ramen" please keep in mind that this menu item verbiage "Tonkotsu Ramen" is NOT your "Breaded Pork Cutlet" fried to a crisp that we all come to know and enjoy. This terminology is defined as the "Natural Pork Bone-Broth" which in the Japanese language refers to a rich, creamy Tonkotsu Ramen broth made from scratch. Upon reviewing my takeout order for my other Tonkatsu SpicyMild, (Ramen) I saw that it is @ $18 less 25%. I will be back to try another entrée...

Such a new and exciting place to enjoy truly beautiful Ramen. Savory and light broth from their special Tonkotsu pot makes all the difference. Tonkotsu special Ramen is a great bowl to start off and pair it with their Spicy Ahi on crispy rice appetizer. So much offerings, there's surely something on the menu that will suit your individual taste. Dare to compare the authentic tastes of Ramen Ono-ya to other Ramen shops.

The only negative of our Hawaii trip, was that even since then, I compare all other bowls of ramen to the one I had in a Hawaiian mall food court and find all the alternatives lacking. Lol. It really was like another dish entirely. So delicious. I literally want to go back to Oahu just for the chance to eat here again. I’ve been dreaming of this ramen ever since.

There are a lot of ramen places out there and each claiming to have some special broth or noodle, but Naniwa-Ya has been around for decades and offers a good selection of ramen to match just about anyone's taste and at a reasonable price. You get a decent size bowl of noodles and toppings swimming in a good broth at a fair price. On top of that it is fast and ready to eat or takeout before you know it. The final nice addition is their add your topping open bar of green onion, fried garlic, and other seasonings that you can help yourself to for that extra bang to your ramen. I tried the Kimchi Lime ramen and was very pleased with it. Had lots of veggies, so it was a much healthier alternative to the other meat based ramens. I do recommend getting a side of their bamboo shoots to add to it. Yes this is a mall food court eatery, but it is as I said in my first paragraph, decent, tasty, and at a fair price. So if you are in the mood for ramen, go to Naniwa-Ya and enjoy.

This place is located within the Shirokiya Japan Village Walk. It's on the first floor on the same floor as the ground parking lot and you'll have to walk I was craving some chicken katsu curry so I was on the hunt for that and even then there were a lot of options for that in the village walk. Ultimately I decided on Onoya and I ordered the chicken katsu curry rice ($13.50). You can get an egg on top for another 45 cents but I decided not to. You can also get a combo set which could potentially include chicken curry along with ramen. If I had known about this earlier I probably would've gotten the combo so I could try both the ramen and the curry. Either way, the chicken katsu curry rice was really good! The curry was nice, flavorful, and thick enough to coat the rice. The chicken was crispy as it should be. Also, there was a good ratio of curry to rice which might not mean much but it's a big deal when you have a ton of curry to get through. Overall, you really can't go wrong with any of the options that you get in the village walk. But if you go to Onoya and get some curry and chicken katsu you definitely cannot go wrong!

Great food price and atmosphere

Really good curry dishes at a very reasonable price considering their location, Shirokiya's Japan walk at Ala Moana center. We've had both the chicken katsu and gyoza dishes here and both are very good. I believe they have at least two different curries, one with beef with the gyozas and one with chicken. Both are very flavor-able and could stand on their own. They also have a punch card for frequent customers. Hints o thought they seem to have Apple pay, their system does not take it. In fact, all of the restaurants there have the same issue. It's a systems thing, they all use the same. o don't expect great customer service. But that's ok.
