The food is outstanding and never disappoints us. Service could improve but we go there for the food really.

Meals have always been yummy although service is hit or miss. Love the Burmese curry and samosas. We come every time we go to a show at Hawai'i Theater down the block. Recommend getting a reservation

Can't beleive that I waited so long to try it. The food and ambiance was amazing! Loved the Tea Leaf Salad and the Lamb Biryani. Everything was tasty. Rangoon is a new favorite neighborhood spot.

My friends and I dined here for lunch. We heard great things about the food and was not disappointed. We ordered the Rangoon Tea Leaf Salad, the deep fried fish curry with a side of rice and Platha, which is this yummy fried flatbread, Garlic Noodles, and the Pork Belly Stir Fry. All of it was excellent in my opinion. An explosion of flavors. I'm definitely going back to try other dishes. Only 1 server when we were there but she is fast and efficient. Highly recommend.

Great place to try authentic Burmese food. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and it’s one of the few places who served a good Shan noodles!

This place is as authentic as the food .... Everything from the small plates to the various curries and various rice selections all wonderful. This is our third time visiting the location in Chinatown . Given there are two locations. The staff make it more amazing than the last time with suggestions as to what would be great choices ... they have not disappointed once . Please go visit them you won't be disappointed.

Updating my review. I used to recommend this restaurant to everyone, and was one of my favorites. Service has always been a little spotty, now however the food no longer covers for the spotty service. I have made over 20 trips to Myanmar so I am very familiar with their food, and what is served here... is now a pale reflection of it. The Tea Leaf Salad (once my favorites dish here) now has only a few grams of tea leaf, otherwise it is a $18 lettuce salad with dressing.

The samoas are nothing more than bland deep fried mashed potatoes lacking any nuance or taste other than the crust from the deep frying.

Their curries, once outstanding are now little more than basic stews, lacking depth and seasoning ( especially egregious is the mango curry which lacks any flavor other than overpowering sweetness).

As far as ordering a wine to go with your meal, they have a wine list but most of the wines are not available, those that are are better left behind the bar.. Just forget about it you'll be glad you did.

At an average cost of $60 per person you can find much better in Honolulu.

Food, ambiance and service are here! A perfect place for Pre or Post Hawaii Theater event! Highly recommend the Coconut Rice, Coconut Curry and the Burmese Eggplant! A wide selection of dishes to choose from. Returning for sure!

The water and ice taste like it comes from old lead pipes or something, it was undrinkable, so bad the ice even made the coke taste oddly dirty and metallic. The food is okay, but I am guesing they use the same water. The place looks fancyish, people seemed to be dressed up for this very mediocre experience. If you like drinkable water and authentic food I would not recommend going. If you are just going to a fancy Asian place in Chinatown and down care about taste, this is the place for you.

This was our second visit to Rangoon and enjoyed the great food and excellent service. The staff was very attentive to our needs and checked on us regularly. The Samusas, Tea Lead Salad, and Lamb Biryiani was delicious and had leftovers. We will be back!

This place has some of the best food. The tea leaf salad is stunning as is the mango salad. The coconut curry was also amazing. Staff was a little slow but absolutely worth the wait.

Great food as always. Brought friends who have never been and they're looking forward to coming back!

Opentable Diner

My wife and I went to celebrate my birthday at Rangoon with two friends. The food was terrific. But the service was absolutely terrible. Our server had a slight European accent and ignored us several times. So I had to raise my had to get her attention. At the end of dinner as she cleared our table, she spilled the juice from the plate on my wife's lap. At first we thought it was an accident. But then she took a full minute to bring napkins so my wife could wipe her lap. It was more important to her to put her dishes away than attend to what she spilled on my wife. Now, I'm planning to share my experience of the poor service with at least 5 friends so they don't go through what happened to us. So sad at this memory of an otherwise great dinner with friends. Recommend take out only.
