I want to start by saying that Keoni was very kind and attentive. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of our experience.
Our server, Ellie, was largely absent. After placing our drink orders, we barely saw her. It took over 20 minutes for two lattes to arrive, and they were only brought out because another server noticed us repeatedly looking around for help.
Halfway through breakfast, I found a very large piece of plastic in my omelette. I asked to speak with the manager, Suzzy, who apologized and acknowledged the issue. However, about five minutes later, she returned and took my friend’s food away while she was still eating—without asking if she was finished. There was nothing wrong with her meal, and she still had half of her breakfast sandwich left.
While the food was comped, this does not excuse the poor service, lack of professionalism, or the uncomfortable feeling of being rushed out due to a mistake made by the restaurant. I would much rather pay for a meal served correctly and with respect than leave feeling dismissed and unwelcome.
My wife and I stayed at the Wayfinder Waikiki for a week recently. We loved the accommodations but were pleasantly surprised by the incredible in-house restaurant, Redfish. The Happy Hour featured the best Poke Nachos we’d ever eaten. The ahi and Torched Misoyaki were premium fish with an outstanding flavor and combined with a second dish, were perfect for the two of us. We combined the Poke with two of our other favorites, Honey Walnut Shrimp and the Redfish Fish and Chips. The fish and chips was the fresh catch of the day and the chef served up swordfish and other specialities that featured local Hawaiian fish.
Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the wait staff. One young lady named Kaya, served us on a couple of occasions and she is one of the most thoughtful, joyful, fun, and attentive servers we have ever experienced. She always recommended the fantastic combinations that we enjoyed and really enhanced our Redfish restaurant experience. If you decide to visit Redfish, look for Kaya and you’ll enjoy great food and incredible service!
Our server had a bit of an attitude when we'd ask about anything on the menu. She's seemed irritable and we didn't do anything out of the ordinary, we only asked to put our happy hour in before it ended, which the hostess said it ended at 6:00pm but our server said it ended at 6:30pm. We didn't know, but we also shouldn't be treated like we're the problem for trying to order something. We shrugged it off and later and asked about the spice level for the poke. She said she doesn't like spice and doesn't know what we like either so she can't tell us. Overall, she wasn't friendly. We both felt like she was annoyed since we came in. We ordered a few happy hour food specials, lemonade, herbal tea, and poke bowls and the flavor was good, but the service was not. I've served and managed a few restaurants and I think the overall service between the server and hostess could use some training. I hope this feedback helps. The menu looks like it can be a winner.
Redfish Waikiki is located inside the Wayfinder Waikiki Hotel, and during our stay we had the pleasure of dining there for both breakfast and dinner. Each meal was delicious from their honey walnut shrimp to their fried banana spring rolls and the service was consistently excellent.
If you love poke bowls as much as I do, this is a must-try spot--the restaurant offers around 20 customizable options, and it's tempting to try more than one.
One of the highlights of our dining experience was our server, Kaya, who is truly one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and offered wonderful recommendations, but her true expertise shines when it comes to poke bowls. She was born and raised on Oahu and knows what makes a great poke bowl. Kaya helped me create the best poke bowl I've ever had--and I've had many.
Thank you, Kaya for making our meals so special.
An “off-the-beaten-path” locations with a quirky atmosphere, challenging parking and limited selections, but if you can manage these factors it is a great local focused spot.
This is a nice restaurant at wayfinder waikiki. The menu has good variety and foods were good overall. Breakfast options also good. Staffs were courteous. Only issue was that the restaurant was closed at 9:20-30ish one day though closing hour mentioned as 10pm. We walked all the way from beach to dine there at our hotel and then had to walk back again to find eating places. It was minor inconvenience though as walking around Waikiki is usually fun.
Very limited vegetarian options. Worst/ bland poke i ever had, served with unfried chilled tofu. Late service.
Our waiter was fantastic and the seating on the patio was primo. Truth be told the food was just “pretty good.” The Poke and rice in particular were just okay. I've heard that Foodland supplies this place. Poke is better there. “Off the Hook” is the best! It was all in all a pleasant dinner but with just good enough food.
Pretty good, not a huge menu. Staff are great and attentive. Food was pretty good, just lacked a bit of gusto and not as good as other places we have tried.
I'm changing my rating to zero because on open table it specified free valet parking and it was free valet parking the first time we went but I went back 3 days later and they wanted to charge me $6 for valet parking. Parking is non existent on that street and if you value your car you would not park on ala wai blvd. I don't know why or how the valet parking changed on open table (it now says "public lot" under parking options which I know wasnt there before because I was taking my 93 YO mother out to dinner and i would never think of taking her to a restaurant where the parking was a "public lot". Hotel management waived the fee "this time" but not before asking me to look up where i saw the "free valet" claim like i was lying (why was i able to free valet just 3 days before???) and told me to take it up with Foodland who owns the restaurant. What a shame because the food is good and the ambience is comfortable. Will NEVER be back. I was even afraid to let them valet my car for fear of them mistreating or scraping my car out of spite. Horrible experience. Locals beware.

Ate probably 6 times here, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff were always polite and the service was great, but the food was not good. A lot of times food was crazy oversalted. The famed shredded pork was stupidly oversalted every time to the point of being inedible. Rice same thing. Something needs to be done about the cook.
Food was amazing! I made a dinner ressy but got there right at 5 when they opened so I didn't really need it. Everything tasted fantastic
We arrived early for our reservation, checked in. She said she'd seat us in 5 mins. After 20 minutes we checked in again, and she had no recognition of who we were or that we have been waiting. Finally seated us. It was over an hour before we were able to place our food order, which we did by chasing down a different server and handing off our tickets (for poke bowls, you fill out your own form). Had we ever seen our waitress, we likely would have ordered more drinks and small bites, but she could not have been less interested in us. After another 40 minutes our food was served to the adjacent table who had only been there for 40minutes or so. I commented, how did they get their food before us? And she removed our plates from the other customs and then delivered to our table. Little bit yucky, although I don't think they touched it. Very meh food. Waitress was aggressive in the scant few moments we actually saw her. The restaurant was only about 6o% full. Disappointing and long. We received our food over 2 hours after arriving for our reservations. And it was not special or delectable at all. Thumbs down.
Overall good experience. My family and I really enjoyed the appetizers. We got the crispy wings which were delicious, the crab dip also great, as well as the Kalua pig fried rice. I ordered the short rib loco moco which I was not a huge fan of. The meat was tough and not tender like the traditional short rib. Fish was fresh. The mini Malassadas for dessert were delicious accompanied with the horchata ice cream. Servers were friendly.
Food is always great, the service was terrible. Waiter notified us after ordering food that certain things (burger, sparkling water) weren't avail. Overall lackadaisical attitude. Forgot avocado even after being reminded, drinks from bar were served to people who showed up after us first. When asked to remove the avocado we did not get and the sparkling water slight attitude and failure to do so first 2 times asked. Not one to leave bad reviews as I've worked in service industry before but this was pretty unprofessional for a not that busy night (at the time we were dining) Food was superb though
