popular spot, reservations recommended. best known for their lunch bentos and other japanese standards… been here twice now, my mother loves this place, but to be honest, the food is nothing special, looks great but its pretty standard japanese fare. i don’t even think its a good deal, lunch for 3 was 100 bucks. not bad, not great, just fair. i wanted to love it like others but needed to be objective. there are plenty of other noteworthy japanese restaurants in ohahu that deserve your hard earned $. they have their own parking lot thats a plus.

Don't come here if you're short on time. Our lunch took nearly an hour to arrive; we had ordered the fish, while my friend ordered noodles. The noodles arrived after 30 minutes, but wow, my fish didnt arrive till she had already finished her plate!!! They also only informed us that they didnt have enough hamachi around 20 minutes of waiting. The waitress was quite rude and constantly spoke to us in a condescending tone, didnt bother to fill our waters....and this is only with 4 other occupied tables!!! Two waitresses cannot handle 4 tables? It wasnt a surprise the restaurant was so quiet. We miss the old Sakura, before it got shut down and reopened to....this. 🙃 Its also definitely not worth the price. Okay the butterfish tasted fine, but it apparently doesnt even come with rice? We paid over $100, $26 just for the butterfish...and it doesn't come with anything at all. No rice, no salad, nothing. Just a small piece of fish for $26. Yikes.

Go to Gyutaku and get a way better deal.

Good service but I was one of four in my party, my order came out 30 mins after the other three of the party completed their meals.

Nice spot that makes you feel like you've been whisked away from the city. Inside its quiet and calm atmosphere. Food flavor was delicious. We had sushi rolls. Rolls are small, 5 pieces each. Which makes the $18 each expensive.

Always pass by this Japanese restaurant on King Street in Honolulu so finally made a point of stopping by this restaurant since Ive heard the Lunch Specials are reasonably priced and awesome🤙Parking is located in the back of the restaurant. A bit tricky getting in and out since its King street with the bike lane and one way side streets but manageable.

Walked in on a weekday at lunchtime, wasnt too busy and seated right away. The waitress asked if I had a reservation, so perhaps if I was coming with a big group that would be a good idea.

First time here so ordered the popular Nori Bento Deluxe set. Came with soup and salad and 4 piece sashimi.

Service, price, presentation and food is top notch here. Why havent I visited here sooner? The chikuwa fishcake on the nori bento was fried tenpura style and was crispy and not oily. The salmon was lightly seasoned and cooked perfectly.... Just wow.

Finished off my meal with a matcha ice cream and that was beautifully crafted also with azuki bean, whipped cream and a sliver of strawberry and mint... Served with tea was the end to a great lunch. 5 stars.... Wish i could rate this place higher🙂

Nice lunch combos and options. The food was pleasing to the palate as well as the eyes. I definitely want to come back here again. The portions are perfect. We were seated across the indoor space/outdoor patio as our family members wanted open air dining for health reasons. It took me some time to study the menu and figure out what I really wanted to eat. I settled on the nori bento (middle picture). It's perfect for times when you want a little sashimi, but you want some cooked food and gohan.

All the food we ordered was served fast and delicious reminding us of the genuine Japanese dishes we have in Japan. We see large groups around us visiting this place often, which testify the quality and service. We will definitely come back.

Atmosphere was great. Sushi was just okay. They have omlette and omurice that you can hardly find from other places in Hawaii.

I could not recommend this place more. It’s a super quiet, nice, and clean restaurant. The food is outstanding, extremely well prepared, everything tastes good, and it is served elegantly and relatively quickly.

I had the maguro and can’t say enough about this dish. It’s one of the best fish I’ve ever eaten in my life and certainly the best in Honolulu. I asked the waitress to compliment the chefs because it was out of this world. Their hot tea is served for free, and it is one of the most soothing teas you can have with your food. I am looking forward to coming back. The staff is friendly, although they gave us a time limit to stay in the restaurant at check-in, which is not elegant, but the food is worth it.

Looking for a chill place to eat very delicious lunch and dinner? If you are in search for a relaxing clean friendly and mouth watering meal then here it is Sakura Terrace. When I travel in the States or Internationally, I honestly vote in my mind how it compares to my favorite Japanese restaurant I go to in the BayArea California. Although I have been going there since I was a teenager, there has been no other restaurant for 30 years that could not beat the quality of food presented until I found this restaurant. Sakura Terrace at 1240 S. King Street in Honolulu is quaint and cozy. This restaurant reminded me of a high end michelin quality restaurant I visited in Tokyo last week with its simplistic decor in furniture and stylish dish plates. I sat at the counter next to the miniature bamboo water fountain that had a baby crab. Very cute. The atmosphere was chill, relaxing and mute enough to hear interesting conversations around you. Not that I as nosy, it was not overly loud like other restaurants. I ordered the Ribeye Bento added a couple Shrimp Tempura and dessert to finish. What a tasty bento it was! The ribeye was superbly cooked medium rare, the soup and salad delicious. The steak was tender. Did I say the steak was good? Yes, very delicious! Shrimp tempura was lightly battered and delicate crunch was perfect. Everything was presented beautifully on the plate and now for dessert. I ordered the makana ice cream with sweet bean? The ice cream had a mochi and enclosed in a icecream cone eatable shell. Very good. Overall, a very wonderful experience and the best part was the pricing. If you want to bring a friend, significant other, family or solo, go to Sakura Terrace. The food is #1 and affordable, its cozy and my favorite place for a very nice meal. Highly Recommended!

Got the salmon ikura don and maybe I'm biased cuz I love anything salmon but it was DELICIOUS! Loved all the add ons too like miso soup and daikon (I think). We also had the $4 matcha ice cream that came with red bean paste and a strawberry :P The servers were also really nice and apologized for the long wait (it was busy when we went).
