I continued to receive reservation reminders along with my party of 5. Our reservation was for Monday, January 1, 2024, 11:00 am, Happy New Year and best way to set intentions for the new year. My family flew in from Hilo and this WAS SPECIAL. We arrived at 10:45, still receiving confirmation text's AND the parking lot was EMPTY. The restaurant was DARK .... AND THERE WAS A SIGN AT THE DOOR that said (paraphrase)....Our last night of service will be December 31, 2023. NO WORDS...wow thanks for the 1,000 points OpenTable to try and smooth things over. SCRATCH....NOT A GOOD WAY TO DO BUSINESS. I wish your Kakaako location well and Happy New Year....VERY DISAPPOINTED
They're closing down this location, and they should have just closed outright instead of dangling the staff along. Our waiter was great, but he was handling like 6 tables alone. The food came out at random, we waited over an hour and a half for some of our food while others had already finished eating. One meal was great, one was okay and two were practically inedible. Unlikely to try the other locations because this was a waste of money. Hugely disappointing. Hope our waiter lands somewhere great though. He was good.
I did order eggs over easy it wasn't done right they don't have toast bread I ask for crispy bacon it wasn't crispy.... But waffle was good exultant First time I did try it .... Not for me
opening hours is nice! service is not so excellent. food is not sophisticated, not presentable, just regular mainland old style american food, not onolicious. do not expect what you pay. atmosphere is beautiful. you can drink there, bar is available from morning;)
Service was excellent! I had the Surf & Turf combo. My steak was chewy, and the shrimp oozed brown matter when head was removed. It was not appetizing. Other selections were fine.
Just extremely disappointing. Expensive, very slow service and the food was way too salty. On top of all that, Scratch Kitchen adds a four percent surcharge for kitchen appreciation.
The popcorn chicken was great as always with the four dipping sauces and so was the French toast brûlée. Liked all the toppings on the chili fries but personally prefer dinner fries but still delicious. The roast pork belly Benedict and scratch burger tasted good but I never got to taste them because our friends ordered them. Not sure if this a byob location but was not offered a cocktail, but definitely would go back
Modern and beautiful new build out. We had heard. There was some staffing issues soon after opening, but everything ran very smoothly for us. Excellent food for a surprisingly reasonable price. Cocktail menu could be a little bit more built out but the drink menu, in general, was also very reasonably priced. We really liked the fish and chips. The table next to us got the lamb and it looked amazing too. Filled up around 6PM for dinner. We will be back
Last minute dinner plans so we decided to check out Scratch Kitchen. Escargot and brussel sprouts were very tasty and the fresh catch was delicious too. The crispy smashed potatoes was okay, something that I probably wouldn't order again.
Food is quite tasty and the portions are large. It's a shame the size of the restaurant is so big that it doesn't look filled to capacity. This is our second time dining here and we have enjoyed it both times. I recommend it.

Took friends from LA, had a great dinner - soft tacos appetizer, big salad, fish & chips, shrimp, and country gravy fried chicken biscuit. Strawberry short cake dessert was based on biscuits, too (very tasty). Everything was good and plentiful, and the service was wonderful. Awesome dining experience.
Our family had a relxing Sunday Brunch. Since it was the first time we'd tried Scratch Kitchen for brunch we tried a good variety of dishes. Our grandson had the Kid's Mac and Cheese. A very generous portion. He prefers the classics so next time we'll ask that they hold the garnish. My son-in law had the Grandule rice with eggs over easy. Grandule rice is unique and tasty. My daughter had the pork belly eggs benedict. Perfectly poached eggs! I had the waffles and berries - a super value on the menu! My husband tried the French toast with the creme brûlée topping. Excellent! We loved the burnt brûlée on the top. Server lets us know up front that food will come out separately so we knew what to expect. Two of us ordered mimosas with guava juice. They send it out with full glasses of sparkling wine and an accompanying mini carafe of juice. Very cute and you get a full glass of wine. Don't forget that they add a kitchen service charge. The atmosphere is the best. No pushing and we had a great view of the ocean. On a beautiful Hawaiian morning you can't ask more!
The food was amazing as always. I never been to this particular location I always went to Ward area. But I always hated their seats at ward, A friend told me that the Hawaii location has the furniture left over from the previous owner, I had to check this place out. And I am so glad I did. Our waiter was amazing, he was a mature man but his work and customer service was better then the young staff that was standing around twiddling their thumbs. Food at this location was delicious, and view is unbeatable. We will be back
the mixed drink was mostly ice. the shrimp and grits was only 3 shrimp and the sauce was watery and the grits were not creamy the chili fries were warm not hot ambiance was cavernous, in my opinion should have a drop ceiling not the open ceiling and the bar looked too small for the large area it occupies. It was not very busy for a Friday night. Maybe a happy hour with half price pupus and drinks? Add some sort of chips - wonton or shrimp chips with dip. Maybe live entertainment? Will probably not come back for 6 months or more.
One entree was delivered to the table 10 minutes before the other 3 entrees. Waitress never can back to the table to inquire if we needed anything. Had to search for her. Pork belly was tough. Very Disappointing.
