My partner and I stopped by Shaka Shaka Tea Express and ordered a medium lychee drink and an XL watermelon. The service started off great. The drinks came out very quickly and the cashier was really nice.
Unfortunately, the lychee drink itself was disappointing. The flavor tasted off, almost like soap or freezer burn. It technically tasted like lychee, but something about it was strange and definitely not like the fresh lychee I regularly buy from the farmers market. I looked into it and it says lychee tastes soapy when it starts the fermentation process and it goes bad.
When my partner went up to mention the issue, the staff’s response was surprising and unprofessional. Instead of trying to help, they yelled back that “that’s what lychee tastes like.” That really put a damper on the experience. My partner ended up paying for another drink just so I’d have something else, which shouldn’t have been necessary.
Overall, the quick service and friendly cashier were the only positives. The drink quality and the way the situation was handled left a bad taste, literally and figuratively, especially right after our date. I wouldn’t return based on this experience. I used to come here a lot with my friends in high school and been coming for years since but this is sad and disappointing.
Tried Shaka Shaka Tea for the first time today and got the Lychee Smoothie. It was so yummy and refreshing! They use fresh lychee flown in from the Big Island, and you can really taste the difference. Love how they use fresh ingredients. Plus, boba is free!! Definitely coming back to try more drinks 🌺🧋
Best tea with boba I ever had , staff always friendly too🌺aloha
Pineapple juice is like water with sugar. Does not deserve its price.
Came here twice and both time the tea's weren't good and its so over-priced for such a low quality drink.
On Monday 10/14 at around 8:30pm, my friend and I were craving smoothies after a workout. When we got there, there were no customers. We got the mango smoothie and strawberry milk smoothie, and when we tried it as we were leaving the store, it tasted bland and watered down. We went back to store to see if it could be saved, and the girl at the register was sweet and apologetic and tried adding sugar but when we tried it again it still tasted the same, like sugary iced water, very little fruit flavor. So the girl tried to check with lady in the back if it could be remade, but that lady seemed unhappy and offended when we told them it tasted like water. She started yelling to the worker and saying not possible and also said “shen jing bing” which is “psycho” in mandarin and I’m insinuating it’s toward us because we’re the only ones in the room. The girl at register tried her best to help out and they tried to add more mango in my smoothie but ultimately it tasted the same.
I used to come here frequently several years ago and their drinks were good. Not sure what happened these past couple of years, but the quality has gone down dramatically. Safe to say, I am not coming here ever again. There are plenty of other stores that have good smoothies. I’d come here if you’re desperate for a mediocre watered down $8 drink.

Tried this place twice, but strawberry was ok and honey pineapple was terrible. Their straws are terrible and broke if u apply any small pressure from any direction. I bought over 10 bags of treats from here, their nougets were expired 3 months n tasted terrible. Their labelling wasnt that clear and when I pointed it out to them they were rude. I recommend ice monster at the strip I almost quit boba because of this place but ice monster at the strip had tasty slushie and boba was way tastier, had good straws and employees professional and friendly.

The smoothie was extremely delicious! But the customer service was horrible. The girl had a horrible attitude. Didn’t make you feel welcome or anything like that! Would I come here again maybe not just because of that..

Speedy service, nice atmosphere, meh smoothie. Can't beat the price, it's the same in Chinatown at about $7 for a small drink.I asked for no sugar, but the cashier said it'll be very bland. ?Wished there was more variety like Thai milk tea. I had high hopes but don't think I'll be coming back. For the money I'd rather take the trip to Coffee Talk on Waialae for a coconut cream coffee.

Parking: Street parkingThis is a cafe that sells a variety of smoothies and tea. The smoothie was better than the tea. The price is cheap and the smoothies are not bad, so I think a lot of students go there.-Avocado Milk Smoothie $6.99-Watermelon Smoothie/Juice $5.99-Strawberry Banana Smoothie $6.99

Love getting my mango smoothie fix here. Everything is natural and it’s the perfect treat to get in this heat! They also have tea and coffee, as well as asian snacks in the store.
