We've been to other Shingen locations and were pleasantly surprised to see Shingen opened a storefront in the new Stix food hall. We ordered 1 combo of cold soba with an ahi poke bowl and 1 combo of cold soba with a tempura bowl. Service was okay (a bit rushed and absentee) but the soba was very al dente and had great texture, though the food did take a while to come out and Shingen was basically empty. Prices are steep in my opinion, so I don't think Shingen is a particularly great value, but the soba is solid.

Very very good soba place. This is the best soba I've had , super clean restaurant. Too bad they're short staffed, lots of items wasn't available. Parking is next to the building , be sure to get validation since it's Waikiki parking can be pretty expensive.

Located inside the Waikiki food hall in the baseman area (Waikiki shopping plaza), a lot of restaurants to choose from. I picked this restaurant because I have a 10% off coupon that I found in one of those coupon book in the stands near by. It was the day we have the Waikiki parade, therefore, this place is packed with people! The staffs are friendly and nice. The restaurant looks like a Japanese restaurant, nice and clean. It was pretty noisy because of the crowd. I ordered the combo with HOT soba and beef bowl. This is my issue with their food, when I ordered hot soda, I expecting HOT soba, not WARM soba. The soup base is just warm and make my entire bowl of soba not right. The beef bowl was just OK, not much to it, I was going to ask the staff to redo my hot soba but I decided not to do so because I waiting almost 1/2 hours for my food in this busy nights. Anyway, since my first experience is not that great, I don't think will go back often. They do valet 2 hrs parking if you spent more than $35. Validate only good for weekday between 5pm to 10pm, weekend, 11am to 10pm.

Nice big portions and a good sauce too. Really hit the spot when I was craving some cold soba. Service was nice and quick and the restaurant reminded me of being in Japan. The shrimp tempura was crispy and fresh. Personally Id have liked more green onion too. The main issue is that its pretty expensive for what it is, but it is in waikiki so that's kinda to be expected.

Simple but tasty. That's what I love about Japanese food. I like this new location because it's more casual and you can have a quick meal in busy Waikiki. I always get the beef tongue since you can find it prepared this way in most restaurants.

Great deal. High quality soba if you want authentic soba. The tempura was only so so but you go to this place for the great soba

The servers here were all super friendly and the food came out pretty fast. It is located inside the stix Asian food court. Potato croquette- 5/5: This was super crispy and delicious Red spicy- 5/5: This dish hits the spot if you're craving something spicy and savory. You dip the soba noodles into the soup Natto mix-1/5: It was my first time trying natto and I definitely think it is more of an acquired taste as the natto is very slimy and has no taste in my opinion. If you do like natto then this might be a good option for you

FOOD: 3 SERVICE: 1 AMBIANCE: 3 VALUE: 2 If you don't speak Japanese, do not come here. They definitely discriminate against you. There were 3 tables of people who came after us, ordered the same dishes and they all got their food before us! In one case a table of 6 came in after us and they got all their food 20 minutes before us. The final straw was this single Japanese guy came in 20 minutes after we sat down, and got his food the same time we got our food! We were the only non-Japanese speaking customers in the whole restaurant.

So happy they opened up close to me. I used to dine with them at their original location in Mccully. This place is small but fills up! Located in the Stix asian food hall. The quality just SLAPS. You know it's fresh and homemade noodles. You eat it and feel so alive and healthy. You can do the cold or hot noodles. A lot of the broth is HOT especially the amazing duck and you get cold noodles. I was hoping the duck broth would be cold actually.. but still was Ono. The servers are mostly japanese and so polite and attentive. All the food is delish.

The food is amazing here. The handmade noodles are delicious. There is not anything on this menu that we couldn't say no too because each dish is wonderful. Service is 5 star. When food is good and superb service, then ambiance doesn't matter.

Most disorganized place. There are open tables but they don't clean up quick so it's long wait. Also no dedicated line to get into restaurant. Who ever walks to staff gets first shot of table. They don't believe in forming a line. Basically chicken without the head!

I have been hearing so many good things about Shingen and am so glad I finally got around to trying this place! I got their special dinner combo ($20.80) and opted for the hot ube soba with tempura don. I enjoyed the ube soba but expected the texture to have slight more chewy. I want to try the cold soba next time so I can compare textures. Tempura don was tasty and had a good variety of tempura. Among noodles, soba is a very healthy choice. Soba is mostly made with buckwheat flour, which is not only gluten-free, but packed with healthy proteins, vitamins, and minerals. It's lower in carbohydrates and calories as well. I love all noodles but I really want to incorporate more soba into my diet!

Conveniently (for me at least) set right next to the central bar, Shingen is a great place for a quick take out to eat bar side and watch the Sunday NFL games. Service is quick and very friendly. The server gave her suggestions with enthusiasm and delivered it to the bar while we were cheering for the Eagles. She helped us spread out our order and suggested which sauces she preferred, and cheered alongside us for the next two plays before returning to Shingen. The food is excellent. A plus for us - since the closing of Yamagen, we havent found a low key soba eatery that appealed to us at this level till now.
