Way above average prices for way below average udon. When I got my food I felt like I got robbed. When I ate my food I felt like they robbed me again. Won't be coming back here. You should eat here if you like salty, not-fresh, shoyu-water and noodles. But if you like to enjoy what you eat, there are several good options a head turn away.

The only thing I highly reccomend is their Zaru Soba Special. $6.50 for plain soba. Comes with a dipping sauce that is basically out of a bottle from Longs. But tastes so good. It comes with a hefty amount of noodles and a little plastic container of cut green onions, shredded daikon, and wasabi. Unfortunately it's all together, so if you dont like wasabi, you dont get the green onions or daikon which makes up the whole dish. The first time I got the special they were out of the side of chicken rice and the cashier didn't say anything. But honestly I'd rather go without. The rice is not flavorful. Just like eating regular rice with bits of chicken. 2 stars cause everything else is not good. Sad to say I've been here multiple times and even became a top "regular" on yelp for check ins. The hot broth soba and udon are not hot at all. Broth is bitter. Sour even. No salt or taste. Doesn't taste homemade. Noodles are cooked well, but that's it. Fried veggie ball and tofu are good. But not worth getting it with the regular soba and broth. I'd rather go to marukame or shirokya.

I was craving some ramen while at work and found this place near by. I've always looked at the menu but never ate here but since i decided to eat here I noticed the prices dropped from before...Or so I think it did. I had the shoyu ramen. It was ok...tasted like your normal shoyu ramen. It wasn't bad, I liked it but can't really go wrong with shoyu ramen. But I am down to try other items on the menu the next time.

Terrible customer service and overpriced for what you get. Go to Marukame in Waikiki for a better experience unless you prefer rude cashiers and bland mall food.

For having a short line it sure is a long wait for the food. I ordered ramen. The broth was bland, the egg was overcooked, and the noodles weren't even ramen noodles. Don't waste your time here.

This is a good place to get tempura and soba from, this is my third time here and got the Cold Noodle with Assorted Tempura $15. I had quicks service, food came out fast. Things Tempura was hot, Soba was cold, as it should be. I loved how they give daikon with the tempura dipping sauce. The only thing I hope they fix in the future is the consistency of how they slice their vegetables for their tempura. Each time I have been here the thickness of each vegetable has always been extremely different.

I was order one curry udon. Only have udon and curry inside. The price $10. I will not coming anymore. Curry house is the more better and the price also. How they think this curry udon for $10

Sobaya offers various soba or udon choices at the Lanai food court in Ala Moana. They also have donburis and ramen too. I ordered the shrimp tempura udon today for lunch. It came with 2 shrimp tempura, a little bit of wakame (seaweed) and lots of soup. The taste was ok and the price was $11.50. They give you a buzzer thingie when your order is ready so you don't have to wait at their counter. Service was pretty quick and they have courtesy cups of water if you don't want to buy a soda.

Pretty ordinary place for ramen. Their broth is not particularly yummy. But the price is pretty cheap.

Junk rice. Hard and dry. Expected better from a Japanese restaurant. Beef bowl meat stringy.

Didn't try the soba, udon, or ramen. But the tonkatsu curry and tempura were good! The tonkatsu was fresh, crispy, and juicy. The curry had a lot of flavor and was slightly spicy. The tempura was battered just right and the shrimp they use are large. Unfortunately the tempura wasn't hot when we got it, so it probably had been sitting. We did wait pretty long for our food. I didn't pay for this meal so I can't comment on the price. I'm not a fan of the Lanai food court in general (the selection and layout) but I would eat here again if I had no choice.

Terrible taste... Don't go there...

Tasteless, boring, disappointing Japanese food. That in a nutshell should tell you how upsetting it was to spend $11.50 on Kakiage Soba. Wished there was a negative star option on this review. Save yourself the money and disappointment and go get better udon/Soba from Shirokiya.

I've returned several times, but never ordered the tempura. I have to say, though, that tonight the tempura looked freshly cooked. : ) Low star rating because at 8:30 pm, they put the CLOSED sign out and turned several customers away. Every other restaurant in the Lanai at least opens until 9 pm, and closing is posted as 9 pm for Sobaya on website. Maybe there's a good reason...?
