The food here was really good but I was offended at being asked to leave after ordering a full meal and sitting to do some work on a laptop. I was there for one hour and the place was empty before a staff member told me that if I did not order more I would be asked to leave. Terrible hospitality. It’s a shame because the sushi and poke are excellent. Since when was it a crime to enjoy a meal and do a little work for one hour?

Sushiya offers fresh fish sushi. We ordered sushi bentos for our small gathering, and everyone had positive comments. Yummy, sorry we ate before the photos.

I recently rediscovered Sushiya on Waialae Avenue and it's quickly become my go-to sushi spot in the neighborhood. This family-run gem exudes warmth and hospitality, making each visit a delightful experience. What I love about Sushiya is how convenient it is. There's always easy parking right out front, perfect for those days when I'm in a rush and need a quick grab-and-go option. It's also ideally located for a stop on the way home.Their menu has a great mix of classics and their own special twist on local favorites. My favorites so far are the Crunchy Spicy Ahi Bowl and the Spicy Dynamite Maki - both are packed with flavor and the portions are super generous.Plus, they're currently running a fantastic promotion – $10 off on orders over $40 with an American Savings Bank debit card, which is pretty much a whole free roll every time you visit. If you're looking for a friendly, convenient neighborhood sushi shop with amazing food, Sushiya is the place to go. Can't wait for my next visit!

I had been coming to Sushiya for years before the pandemic. I remember coming to this restaurant as an everyday patron. I've finally come back after some time and got to meet the new owners. They have renovated the place to look very cute and welcoming! The food is just as delicious as I remember and with great display. A great way to spoil yourself for a date. The "crunchy veggie don" is now the "crunchy spicy ahi don," which is a must try and unique version of a pokebowl, which includes sushi rice, vegetable tempura, and spicy ahi. Their sauce is very good, which soaks into the rice for a delicious combination! I was able to get $10 off for spending $40 with an American Savings Bank Debit card, too, so I splurged and got the dynamite maki, too. I liked it even more! Crunchy shrimp tempura with the fresh crunch of the cucumber was a heavenly balance with the spicy ahi on top. Thanks again, Sushiya!! Good luck with your small business!♡ See you again soon!

Came in 20 minutes before closing, the sashimi was left over bits of what the kitchen had left and not super fresh. Rather just say you are out if sashimi. We didn't eat it - don't F' around and find out when it comes to raw stuff. The staff was nice and the place was clean so giving 3.

This is now my favorite spot for sushi. Close to home and fresh. The little container of miso soup was perfect with my dragon rolls.

Got take out here a couple times and was very impressed with the dragon and shrimp tempera rolls. The salmon nigiri is also worth trying, overall would definitely come back!

Wonderful small eatery for fresh poke or maki, friendly service, and has a cheery vibe! Was in the area after doing the Diamond Head Trail nearby. Definitely recommend!

Ahi nigiri was good, but the salmon nigiri was off.

All their rice is sushi rice. They go the extra step for quality and the fish is fantastic. I love their avocado hand rolls too.

Tiny portions and all the food is microwaved and was barely even warm :( garlic mayo chicken is mostly rice with about 1/2 cup of chicken. Hand rolls were also mostly rice. Genuinely extremely disappointed in the quality and pretty upset.

Great sushi. Great prices

Have to leave a two stars based on their rice. Ordered take out from here and got three of their hand rolls (1 dragon, 2 unagi). Their rice was not soft or cooked properly. Some bit of the roll had hard rice and had a dry feeling to it. It's a good thing the unagi had sauce to make it a little better but I wouldn't recommend the hand rolls unless they cook the rice better. It is a such place after all

Decent sushi, a lot of rice on the rolls but the price is really high. Customer service could be a little nicer too. 1/2lb of fresh ahi and some rice is the same price across the street as one roll here that might have 1/10 lb

Inexpensive, tasty and great portion size. No restroom so go with an empty bladder or go next door to the pizza place.
