Service was a little slower than usual, it took so long to get the ice cream that we just canceled it and paid the bill. But I love eating here with my mom, we've been coming here for over a decade and the food is consistently good!
Always great quality of food, excellent service and a fun experience! Prices increased a bit, but still worth it as the portions are fairly large. It's also great when you have a fun chef! =)
The food quality was worse than I expected, and I was shocked by how they put the sauce tray on the tray filled with food, put it on the floor, and didn't pay any attention to hygiene, adding excessive margarine to all the dishes. I'm very disappointed by the unsanitary conditions where the food portions are given too little for the price. While cooking, the rice falls on the table in such a messy manner. A place I don't want to go back to..
It’s always a great experience at Tanaka of Tokyo East location! We had a table to ourselves this time which was lovely! We’ve seen the show many times so this was actually a nice change to just enjoy a nice meal. Joe and Eddie were great! Loved Eduard, the manager. Had a nice conversation about the old days when this was located at Kings Village. Thanks again!!
Such a fun and lively teppanyaki experience! 🎉 The chef did awesome tricks while cooking our food right in front of us — dinner and a show in one! 🍤🔥 The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommend this place for a fun night out! 🙌
Absolutely amazing experience with Chef Matt at Tanaka of Tokyo! The food was spectacular and cooked perfectly – the service was wonderful. We never had to ask for a single thing! Definitely will return next time we're in Waikiki!
Probably the best choice for my Birthday dinner. Everything was perfect. From check In to the End . The food and service was excellent. I would do it again in a minute. We enjoyed our time very much.
Our experience was okay. Not bad, not great. The iniyial greeting upon arrival was matter of fact, not guest forward. The secondary hostess was welcoming and kind. Seatting and pre-dinner service was average. Food plenty but average. Overall the restaurant, food, service was average. Value slightly below average. We will look to other options next time on Open Table. George
Good value for Teppanyaki style meals. The service and food were excellent. I highly recommend it.
Employees are welcoming, attentive and were kind to our kids. Fried rice was very good. I got the daimyo with petite filet, lobster, and scallop. The lobster was excellent; filet was a little too salty. Something gave me a bad stomach ache so perhaps just keep your order to meat and shrimp.

Dining at Tanaka of Tokyo Central Restaurant was an absolute delight! The chef, an engaging and skilled master, showcased their expertise with each dish, from the tender steak to the flavorful vegetables, all cooked to perfection. The entire staff exuded a positive and enthusiastic demeanor, contributing to the overall exceptional dining experience. If you're visiting Hawaii, Tanaka of Tokyo Central Restaurant is a must-try and highly recommended. Thank you for the wonderful experience! :)

Our chef, Christian was great. Very entertaining and the food was fresh and cooked perfectly. I recommend.
Cook Christian was amazing and funny! Our server (didn't get her name) was also very attentive!
For the past 9 years, we have been going to Tanaka of Tokyo, but we've noticed a decline in both the quality of the food and the chefs' skill. Vegetables are often burned, and medium rare is consistently served as medium.
