Tanaka of Tokyo East is located at Outrigger Waikiki Paradise at 150 kaiulani Avenue in Waikiki . Upon arrival I was greeted by Steven ( manager ) with Aloha and I was seated at a lovely table facing kaiulani Avenue . Tanaka of Tokyo East is a teppanyaki Restaurant. They have a wonderful menu of steaks and seafood . As well as lobster, scallops and wagyu steaks are on the menu . The Chef prepares each meal over a teppanyaki table . Our chef for the evening a Patu was very personable and entertaining. Patu was very entertaining as he prepared steak and shrimp , steak and lobster with scallops . Each meal also includes miso soup and salad with a delicious ginger dressing . Tanaka of Tokyo is great for group dining , special celebrations and date nights . Eduard ( manager ) stopped by to say hello and made sure all the guests have a great dining experience. All the managers are readily available in case of any questions from guests . They check on each table and greet the guests diners . I highly recommend dining at Tanaka of Tokyo East for an entertaining evening accompanied by delicious dishes . Fantastic experience. The food was on point, the service was tight, and the entire night ran smooth. The staff was attentive without hovering, and the hibachi was executed perfectly. Worth the reservation, would absolutely come back.

This was our 1 year anniversary and our first time to Tanaka of Tokyo and our first time eating the Wagyu steak. What an awesome experience and great time we had. From the time we walked in the door for our reservation “Hostess”, waitress and our Fabulous and very entertaining Chef “Anthony” Whoop Whoop ( pay that guy whatever he needs because hard to find great chefs like him now days!!). A couple who scam others was at our table. They came across as overly friendly and outgoing. Ordered normally, gave a cash tip up front for some drinks, and said it was their anniversary. Toward the end of main course they started to disappear individually for length of time. Then they said to the table they lost the man's wallet AND her purse setting it down outside. Then they said his wallet was inside and looking under table. They kept saying “shoot we can't pay for our meal” They were trying to get the table to pay for their meal. Then the mean started yelling and making loud noises stating the restaurant stole his wallet when the table wasn't paying for them. These people are big time scammers. Be careful of this couple. Sounds like they frequent this restaurant.

Tanaka of Tokyo East did not disappoint. I reserved a table here for my friends birthdays during a vacation and the food, service and atmosphere were top notch while also being just a 5 minute walk from our hotel. I will definitely recommend this spot to anyone who is in the area. Mahalo!
