Food was phenomenal! My boyfriend ordered the lobster & sirloin and I ordered the Filet and shrimp, both dishes were delicious! The lobster was so buttery and soft ,definitely the best lobster we’ve ever tasted! The Filet melted in my mouth it was so tender and juicy. We had one of the best chefs (shout out to Tino!) He put on a wonderful performance and made us all laugh! We shared a table with another family and it was just an incredible experience. The manager was very nice, and came to check up on us. Since we were celebrating my birthday they put a candle in some delicious chocolate ice cream and sang a song to me. We also had a great server he kept our drinks filled and checked in with us often, I can’t remember his name but it started with an H. If we were to visit Oahu again, we would definitely come back to this restaurant.!Dietary restrictions: They asked everyone at the table if they had any food allergies before preparing any food.

All I can say is WOW ?. Customer service from the waitress, the manager Kevin & of course our Chef Patu made our visit extra pleasant. The food was amazing! The salad was very tasty, as well as the miso soup. My steak was cooked exactly how I wanted it, it was tender as well as juicy! I can't wait to eat here again! Thank you again! ???

Food & chef Christian were good, didn’t appreciate the “sample tip” of nearly $50 being added to the bill before the total…. Along with the comments of the cashier girl when looking at our adjusted amount…. Yes you were heard… I’ve wanted to go here for many years, but I won’t be going

I travel to Hawaii often and I must say every time I go here it is the best meal I have here. I personally think this is the best restaurant in the downtown area. The quality of food, friendliness of servers, and the show the chefs put on are fantastic. Whether you are wearing blue jeans and just came from work or a suit they treat you with outstanding customer service and attention to detail.I have had multiple trips to this location and what I recommend. For starters you need to order the Ahi Poke, the amount you get and quality is amazing. It is almost enough for a small dinner. Very good quality of tuna, it literally melts in your mouth. Another option to try is the wagyu steak. This is one of the more pricier items on the menu, but well worth it if you don't mind splurging. I have had wagyu in Kobe, Japan and this one is VERY comparable. The scallops are also amazing, I generally always pair these with my steak entree, if you like scallops get these you will not be disappointed. Lastly if you don't want to splurge on the wagyu, the ribeye or the tenderloin are the other options I have tried. I have not been disappointed with anything I have gotten here. The last time I was there was just last night, I had Melany as a waitress, she was fantastic and very attentive. Ethan as a chef, he put on a great performance and everything cooked was perfect. The manager on duty was Kevin, he was extremely engaged in our tables experience. Hope to see you all again soon.

Excellent experience once again at Tanaka Tokyo in Waikiki. We dine here everytime we’re in Hawaii & it’s always great. Excellent service, fantastic food quality & drinks & we love the open air windows & the breeze you get while enjoying the teppenyaki experience. Would highly recommend & if you get the chance ask for the executive chef Jacob ~ he is an excellent chef and cooks the food perfectly!

Pretty disappointed. We made reservations for 8:45 and didn’t get seated till about 9:30ish. Then even after that, took about another 10 minutes to get water. My party got frustrated with the wait and we decided to leave. I’m sure the food is good but you would think a restaurant that popular would be properly staffed for a night like Valentine’s Day!

Our reservations were at 8:45 we didn't get seated until 9:45 pm. Didn't eat until about 10:30 pm, which was a shame because we went to celebrate my daughter's birthday and by the time we actually ate she was asleep on my lap.

Kyle was an unbelievable chef. The food came out scrumptious. So far, one of the best sea food platters I've ever had! Irene provided us with great customer service. She was constantly asking us if we needed anything and was at our dispense whenever we needed her service. Ultimately, the whole staff including the managers were great.

We were in town for the Honolulu Marathon in December 2023 and we were off the strip in Honolulu Waikiki looking for dinner that evening. We didn't have reservations and we were able to walk in. It's located on another floor that you take the elevator up to but you can see the sign off the street. We had a party of 4, one vegetarian and another one that had food restrictions. We had about 45 minutes until our reservation so we got some shaved ice before dinner. We sat with a larger group, my cousin ordered steak and lobster, I ordered the steak and shrimp, my brother had the vegetarian meal I think with mushrooms, and his gf got I think chicken? Our server was great! He was entertaining and funny! We started off with a round of drinks, I think I got like a lychee melon drink and I can't remember what others got. What's nice about this meal is that they take our orders and it comes with a full set, we tell them our meats. And they start with the basic meal and cook things that can't get contaminated. So we started with miso soup, then vegetables, and then the rice and you can choose white or fried, then the meats. It was a lot of food and at the end you get a scoop of ice cream-- matcha, vanilla, or chocolate. All really good, I got the matcha!
