A superb omakase experience awaited us at Tempura Ichiku. While my expectations were high, the staff and kitchen blew us away with unbelievably delicate, yet crispy and flavorful tempura selections. The shrimp (crispy heads, then the bodies) were sublime. The lotus root and potato selections were memorable. I must also rave about the gentle and attentive professionalism of the staff, who patiently answered all of of questions and provided impeccable service. About my only gripe...
Tempura Ichika is exactly what it says. Tempura Omakase. It is every but as good as the best experience in Tokyo or New York. Yes, it is expensive but again, within the usual realm for such an experience. The base price for the full Omakase at $180 is actually comparatively in-line for food at this level. Some of the extras can add up quickly. If you love traditional Tempura you can not do better. Domo!
I had an incredibly delicious and authentic Japanese tempura experience here. The service was also very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend ordering today's specials — they're absolutely worth it! The draft beer was fresh and delicious as well.
