First time here. Ordered the coconut shrimp, garlic shrimp, and spare ribs. All three were considered the popular items on the menu. All three were extremely lackluster. Didn't finish them. Despite the high reviews of business, it was Bar food. Nothing special. Service was fine. Environment was fine.

I'm a big fan of Uncle Bo's, so when I heard he opened up a place in Waikīkī, I had to stop by. TPH is on Lewers, just North of Kalākaua. We already had dinner, so we opted for dessert. The taro beignets a la mode hit the spot. They were light & airy, crispy and paired well w/ the Frangelico honey sauce and ice cream. Regarding the ambiance, its tiki bar in here. TPH has a lot of bar food (pupus), that I will have to return for. Our waiter Zach was super nice, and the beignets came out quickly. I think Uncle Bo's has three other places besides TPH. Hats off to him for being a successful restauranteur in a tough market.

Brought some friends in from Maui and had a great time. The Pupus were on point from suggestions from our waiter Nick who was awesome! He was extremely attentive without being overbearing Allowing us to enjoy our food and catch up on old times without any pressure which I feel is a great quality. All around great visit and great to see The Moose hanging on the wall, respect for the old days.

Our waiter was very fast and attentive. It's a great casual bar and restaurant but also family friendly. The short rib and french fries were fantastic. We also really enjoyed both the beef and pork sliders. But the short rib was especially top notch.

Great service, great food and vibes. This is the best spot for happy hour - full sized dishes for half price and good drink deals too. Hit this spot multiple times while you are in Waikiki area to save some cash and eat some local food.Highly recommend the island noodles and Kalia pig fried rice.

OH MY GASTRO!! We just happened upon The Pupu House at Happy Hour. Yes, it was nice to have a discount for drinks and food but to be honest, the food is absolutely worth paying full price for! We had the Firecracker shrimp, as well as the Kahlúa pork fried rice, wings and short ribs. It was absolutely amazing! The food was fantastic, it's a cozy little bar/restaurant. The bartender Ciera was an absolute joy! Communicative, kept us interested and talking, was very personable. We were honored to meet the chef Bo who prepared all of the amazing food. We are only in Waikiki for two more days, but will definitely be back. Back for the 2nd night. It's THAT GOOD!! Back for. THIRD time before we leave. Missed Ciera but here for the fried rice and shrimp. Until we meet again... Mahalo

Dynamite wings at happy hour. Server was awesome. Would recommend to anyone in the Waikiki area to stop in. Pineapple BBQ wings were a hit with the whole family

Sorry to report this was a marginally disappointing experience given the advance praise I read about this spot here on Yelp. I also saw how enthusiastic local vloggers Amanda and Felix were about the food on YouTube. Jamie W. and I were not so impressed, and it may be a case of bad timing. First off, while the place is listed as a tiki bar, it was really a sports bar. We found this out firsthand because the place was packed with football fans watching the Niners. We were relegated to the one hi-top table with no view of the big screens. However, that didn't preclude us from the crowd noise accompanying the game. Jamie was good and nursed a Diet Coke, but I went for the $18 Tropical Itch properly named for the complimentary back scratcher (photo: It consisted of a potent mix of High West Bourbon, Jameson Orange, lilikoi, mango, lemon, and a dark rum float topping (photo). We ordered what was the subject of adulation in the video, the $27.95 Boca-Rota, chopped prime rib sautéed with mushrooms in creamy chili aioli with garlic 'cheesy' bread (photo: Sounded tasty, but the execution was off. It honestly tasted like it was assembled a while ago and reheated, especially the bread which was excessively chewy, and the prime rib chunks were overshadowed by the cheese. The other two dishes we ordered were off their Happy Hour menu. Stuffed with pork and minced vegetables and fried liberally in oil, the $6.25 Crispy Potstickers were kinda generic (photo: The remaining dish was the $8.25 Kalua Pig Fried Rice, probably the most satisfying of our trio of plates with the rice wok-fried in garlic, spinach, grilled onions, and bits of pig (photo: Happy Hour is definitely the time to go for bargain priced bar bites. Service was rather spotty because of the constant demands of the beer-swilling crowd, so we didn't begrudge the server. FOOD / DRINKS - 3 stars...strong cocktails and cheap Happy Hour prices but the food execution was lacking AMBIANCE - 3 stars...sports bar masquerading as tiki SERVICE - 3 stars...spotty TOTAL - 3 stars... I ain't trying to pooh-pooh the pupus here RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed:

This was actually the first place I stopped (after our hotel) when I was in Honolulu for a couple days on vacation last month - mainly because I'd never had saimin, theirs was highly rated, and it was listed as being on happy hour. Unfortunately, it turned out they'd removed it from their happy hour menu literally a few days before we got there - it is still a solid, though small happy hour menu, though (this review assumes you get there between 5-7 like we did.) We obviously still had to get the saimin, which at $20, I'd say was enjoyable but not nearly as recommendable as if it'd been half off (still arguably worth it, though). The pot stickers definitely wouldn't be worth $13, but during happy hour, definitely *were* worth 6.25 - they're nothing special, but they were perfectly crispy and entirely enjoyable pot stickers. The pork fried rice, though, is the reason I'd recommend everyone come here, though, food-wise - it's 8.25 for a whole *bunch* of fried rice, its great fried rice and with plenty of great pork. If I lived in the area, I'd probably be there all the time for that. Well, that and their happy hour drink prices - partially in that they have a rotating local craft hard cider for $7 (during happy hour - normally 9), partially in that they have $8 hh lycheetinis. While that basically just means well vodka and lychee juice, it's *hard* to find good lychee juice, and it is good lychee juice. (We were actually there here the following night, just for a couple more lycheetinis, cause $8 is a pretty good price for cocktails in Waikiki!) The vibe of the place is definitely just "generic overpriced tourist bar" (the one thing we didn't like: their taste in very mediocre mainstream 90s pop music, played slightly too loudly) - but the happy hour is very worth it. Crazy quick service on the food, too - granted it was 5:30 and they were empty, but still.

Came here for the happy hour and just quick bite. The food is extremely greasy and comes out sooo quick that you wonder if they even cooked it. The wings are bland and the fried rice is mushy. The fried shrimp was a bit too chewy. I also got the bartender special for the drink and it tasted like soap. But after being on 15 hr flight, i just ate quickly and I left.
