I love me a good izakaya and this one makes the list! There was a brief mixup with our day-of phone reservation, but we got seated very quickly upon arriving. The food was so good and the weather outside was perfect.
Absolutely recommend: the pork belly, karaage, burdock fries, mackerel sashimi, and potato salad with soft boiled egg. But everything was quite good- I don't know if you can go wrong with an order here! Prices were typical for Honolulu Izakayas, most things being under $10 and relatively small bites albeit delicious.

“Don’t you feel like you’re back in Osaka?” I asked my friend as we entered. I’ve been to Tori Ton before and always had a good time, but it’s also popular with those looking for authentic Izakaya as it’s nearly impossible to walk-in unless you have reservations. On this night I made sure to call ahead to guarantee our seats. Warmly greeted as we entered and so much J-energy in Tori Ton! We ordered the Yuzu Beer (highly recommended) and ended up with three each. A myriad of Izakaya and everything was tasty! The hamachi dish with a squeeze of lemon highly suggested! Overall I just love this place! Top notch Izakaya in the heart off urban Honolulu and I would know since I also live in Japan!! Kanpai!!!

Not sure how we managed to avoid this place for seven years, but I’m glad we finally made our way in. This place is awesome. Food is incredible, service is top notch and parking is abundant. Yakitori is delicious as is everything else on the menu. Awesome beer, sake and highball selection. Check em out. ??????

We arrived after 9pm for walk in, one server asked if we had reservations, we said no, and she said give her 2 mins and shut the door to let us wait outside. Assuming there’s a table for us soon, but we ended up waiting outside for more than 10mins, they absolutely didn’t give a damn. End up walking away, and no one comes to check once. I wish they just said no so we can go somewhere else in the first place.

I've been to many yakitori places, but unfortunately, this one sets the bottom line. We waited **40 minutes** before even getting our food. There were four of us, so we ordered four skewers of each type to share. Midway through the wait, the waiter came over and told us that we couldn’t order just four skewers per type for some type, **but by then we had already waited 40 minutes**.
When we raised this issue with the waiter, they went back and **mocked us with other staff**. While we understand Japanese culture can be different, we're always open to trying and learning. However, this experience was **really poor**.
The restaurant is very small, the service was incredibly slow, and some of the waitstaff were downright **rude**. To make matters worse, after we placed our order, they informed us that they wouldn’t serve our food unless we ordered alcohol – **something they hadn’t told us earlier**.
Overall, this was an extremely frustrating dining experience, and the lack of communication and poor service really put us off.

The yakitori was good, but this place is not friendly for starving tourists. We had a reservation, but the hoarse-voiced waitress who served us seemed to think we ordered too much and arrogantly lectured us that this place is just a bar for drinks and small bites. After reading other Google reviews, we found out that each type of yakitori is limited to four skewers. There must be a better way to inform customers, rather than doing it in such an unpleasant way.

Finally coming to update Hawaii in May?
Our first meal when we arrived in Hawaii was at the famous Izakaya Tori Ton. The business is pretty good. It is recommended that you call to make a reservation first. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant but there are not many seats!
The specialty of this izakaya is a variety of skewers. We ordered a round of chicken and a fish chin Hamachi Kama.
Later, I read other people’s comments that oden is also very strong?
There is also a fat roll with pork buns and rice that looks very attractive?

If you don't tip, they will be very rude to you. Even though I paid enough without tipping, I thought it was too expensive and they wouldn't come again, so I didn't tip. Is it up to the customer to decide whether to tip or not, and is this what the restaurant expects? ? If you don't tip, you feel sorry for the service worker, so why not just pay them enough to make it okay without a tip? It ended with a bad feeling, I will never go there again ??
