Van's work speaks for itself. It impressed me even more to know the services offered was a one man job. She told me she didn't need employees to run her business, she can do it all on her own. My manicure sets lasted 3 weeks to a month. She killed every set I had with her. One of the best nail techs I've been to in Honolulu. The down side to Van's Nails is her attitude. Van is very blunt. The first time I met her, she was gossiping about a former employee she trained at the time. Of course I'd like to engage in the conversation instead of silence, I wanted to make a good impression as a customer. She looked at me and rudely said " Why are you asking so much questions??" She then proceeded to ask if I knew the girl, which I didn't. Maybe she thought I was going to tell the girl she was talking bad about her. I brushed it off, I figured it wasn't my business anyway. We changed the topic of the conversation, she finished my nails and I loved them. I gave her cash tip, and she counted it in front of me as I waited for my receipt to be printed. That made me uncomfortable. Two red flags. I had an appointment set. I had to cancel my appointment due to Hurricane Douglas. Taking the right precautions are important, not getting a fill for my nails. I know of many established that closed due to the hurricane. Once I cancelled the appointment, she said she's closing her business because too many clients book then cancel. I took that as she's no longer taking me as a client. It's convenient because she lives 5 minutes away from her shop, if something was to happen she could easily get home. I'm sorry that getting a nail fill is more important than being safe! Definitely took an L losing her as a nail tech, she's very talented. But I'd rather take my money somewhere else, where they value their clients! Van is definitely a hit or a miss.

Van is AMAZING!!! After allowing my friend who is not a nail tech, do/destroy my nails, Van made them beautiful. I am on vacation in Hawaii and could not stand to have ugly nails a day longer. I contacted Van through Yelp and she responded very quickly and fit me in the next day. She is super nice and very skilled. I can now enjoy the rest of my trip with a beautiful new set of nails. I wish I had her to do my nails all of the time!

Van was honestly one of the most genuine people I've ever met! She's by appointment ONLY, and her work is absolutely amazing! (As evidenced by my picture!) We we're laughing and talking the whole time, and she never upcharged me at any point! She quoted me prior to the appointment and stuck to it, even tho some of the design changed. She takes a lot of pride in her work and I highly recommend her to everyone! I'll definitely be back :) thank you!

i love the way my nails turned out! she is great at what she does. my nail beds are very sensitive to drilling, but with the way she did it, i had no problems at all. and my nail beds don't have the post acrylic pain i sometimes get with other nail salons. i definitely recommend Van, especially if you want to get designed nails with a specific look.

GET THIS WOMEN OUT OF HAWAII!! Let me start off by saying, I wish I could give this place -5 stars if I could. I didn't even get my nails done because Van is probably the worst nail tech/person i've ever met. I was so excited to go to this place because I've been looking for a good nail tech on island and I felt she could be the one...I WAS WRONGG!! For the short 15 minutes I was there the convo consisted of her yelling at my mom and I to "hurry up and pick a picture", "shut up, be quiet and let me do my job", and "[she] has never met customers like [us]". I wish I could go in more depth about how horrible the experience was. From hours prior to the appt., we called her to confirm our time and RIGHT OFF THE BAT, we could already sense bad vibes from her. I had remembered that the appt was at 11:30, but she was getting annoyed saying how well she knows her schedule and how my appt was at 1....she called back so rudely and said "hey it's actually at 11:30. Bye". From the get go, we knew Van would be difficult to work with, but we gave her a shot. She has the worst attitude and is going to drive away all costumers. Her attitude DOES NOT BELONG HERE IN HAWAII!! TAKE THIS WOMEN OUT OF HERE!!

I would give zero stars if this was an option. I want to say my daughter and I were so excited to come to get out nails done here based on following vans nails on instagram. We had 2 spots planned back to back. However this experience was the worst I have every encounter in customer service that I am so so horrified that someone like this is doing business with the public and even lives in our aloha state. FroM the moment I called to confirm my appt time she was extremely rude telling and insisting to me it was a different time than I had. When she finallly checkedd her book she realized I was correct. When we arrived my daughter wAs showing her Designs she likes but wanted to give Van the creative ability to do whateVer she wanted but with the ideas my daughter had. She wouldn't do it this way and insisted on a picture. Given Van offers so many options for nail products we figured she was the expert to tell us what was best for WhT kind of nails we wanted. She was extremely annoyed we were asking questions as we were trying to decide. She said we were waisting her time. She started yelling at us, telling us to shut up and noT talk. My daughter was so frightened and we thought of leaving but had driven alL the way from Kailua and figured there was just a language barrier. So then she agreed to do a nail that my daughter showed her a picture of. She said she could do but seemed mad and showed my daughter different colors to choose. But we are not nail techs we don't know how the colors work. And bc she again kept stressing to show a picture. We figured that since she saw the pic she would kNow what hard gel color to pic. Lastly we were so scared to even pick bc she was so mad and told us to let her job and stop talking so we didn't pick color and told her to choose. She then shook her head and said she never met any customer like us. So we just got up and left. This has me so shook right now! We devoted so much time out of our day to come here to only be abused and mistreated. Van needs to leave HAwaii!

Took my gf to get her nails done & Van's never disappoints. So far she loved every set she's gotten! Owner is very nice. Scheduling is easy & simple. Parking located in the back very convenient to have. Just make sure you ask which stalls to park in. Definitely will be back again!

If your appointment scheduler doesn't work for squarespace or your website then you shouldn't use it! Why have customer book via your squarespace then turn your customer away because you don't have time?! You're wrong for treating old customers this way and this is not right. You should be ashamed of yourself. Van your work is good but it's really not that much cheaper than other places so don't think people keep coming to you because it's cheaper. People would rather deal with some place a little more expensive than with your horrible attitude. You should be more professional and not gossip and trash your other customers by calling them whores or cheap, every time I go I get an earful of how your other customers are so cheap and only give you a $3 tip. Maybe you should pay your customers for dealing with you. People come to you because you do good work but no one wants to deal with your nasty attitude. The people that come to you are new because of 1. They don't know about your attitude yet 2. Your price is $10 cheaper (I would rather pay $10 more than to ever deal with your attitude again) The only business you can keep the from new customers who haven't experienced your nasty attitude, I guess you think once they become "old customers" you can treat them like garbage and disrespect them. Lastly, it's not my fault that you have over extended yourself and are in a state of perpetual stress. If you can't take customers then you should rethink your schedule. IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE SQUARESPACE APPT THEN DON'T PUT IT ON YOUR INSTAGRAM. You should never take your anger out on me because you're stressed with overbooking never mind the holidays or not.

First time coming here, and I gotta tell you.. I LOVE it ! Van was very nice she did my nails fast and beautifully. Making sure my nails are even. This is now my favorite place to go to. I'm for sure I'll be coming back

Van is an artist! First time and I will definitely be back. She takes the time to perfect your nails and I love love love how they came out! Super sweet lady, service was 10/10. She's very busy so please don't waste her time. You can book an appointment on the link on her business page. I also got a pedicure from the other girl and I feel so bad because I didn't get her name. My work shoes ruin my feet and sometimes my toenail breaks, but the girl that did my pedicure made it look better! Don't be afraid if you have her doing your pedi! She is also very good at her work so you are in good hands whether it be Van or her. Huge thank you to them both :)

Found this cute little salon on yelp search. I can see why she has good ratings. I was lucky that she was able to fit me in last minute. The lady was very friendly, English was good. She did her job very quickly and very well. I could tell she was a well seasoned nail tech. I will return

Did the hard gel the first time and acrylic this time. The service is great and the equipment she uses are sanitaized properly. Since it is her own salon and there isn't other worker it feels private and I feel comfortable. She will give you options on how she can shape and design the nails for you. There is parking in the back of the building as well.

This place is fantastic!!! She's incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and talented, with very obvious care for not only her end product but also her customers. The salon is impeccably clean and well-maintained. I have no words for how amazing this experience was.
