My first time trying this Vietnamese restaurant. I went during off hours, so plenty of parking and I was the only customer.

The menu is extensive typical of a Vietnamese restaurant, but I am here to try the Pho. The broth is very light, but beefy. Not too sweet. But its missing the essence of the spices, like the cinnamon, star anise, cloves, coriander seeds, cardamom and fennel. Also the smokiness of the onions and ginger. I just prefer my pho broth to be heavier on the spices. But I still enjoyed it. The rice noodles was perfect, and the meat toppings is a little on the stingy side. Also only one size bowl.

I also tried the Summer Rolls with BBQ Pork. It was just average to me. Service was good, attentive and refilled my water when needed. Came to check on me a couple of time. My Mom called me while eating and I ended up ordering the Chicken Pho for take out for my Mom.

They did get busier after I sat down with mostly take out orders.

I will definitely come back again. I like the convenience of satisfying my Pho cravings and I don't have to drive to downtown/Chinatown.

Fantastic little Vietnamese place. Over multiple visits I tried the pho, vermicelli noodles, banh mi, and everything was great. The service is excellent and the owner is extremely generous and kind. Highly recommend stopping in for a bite!

Wife loves this restaurant. It's a small mom and pop place with good food. Parking is tight.

It was okay. I was disappointed with the meat inside of the sandwich :( .. There was very little meat and most of it were fatty pieces too. The sandwiches on the other tables were huge.
I should've just ordered the pho.

I have been wanting to come here ever since I first laid eyes upon the Viet Chubby Boy. The visage of the chubby boy called me.

Finally walking into the restaurant, it actually appears like less of a hole-in-the-wall on the interior than on its exterior.

I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup and the Vietnamese Coffee. I thought that the soup had a sufficient amount of meat in it and wouldn’t have even been skeptical of the amount of other reviews had not mentioned that the meat servings tend to be sparse here. The soup came with a good amount of leaves and bean sprouts to add to it, and it could feed two people. The Vietnamese coffee was a pleasant surprise as well, turning out to be a sort of coffee slushee.

Price-wise, I wouldn’t call this place cheap, but it’s also not expensive.

Overall, I am pleased with the Viet Chubby Boy!

Wow this was SO good!! I got the lemongrass beef bahn mi (It didn’t taste like strong lemon grass and wasn’t too spicy) and ordered a side of the beef broth to dip it in, and it was heavenly! The owner was so kind and friendly and service was fast while still everything being good quality.

Greet customers with a smile, serve with gratitude, the food that’s 10/10 on presentation and 11/10 on taste. Small space but clean. Would certainly recommend to anyone who appreciates Vietnamese food.

If you’re searching for an authentic Vietnamese hidden gem in Kalihi, Viet Chubby Boy is the spot! I’ve been on the hunt for a solid hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese eatery, and I finally found one. I loved it so much that I came two days in a row!

On my first visit, I tried the Lemongrass Banh Mi—crispy, fresh bread packed with perfectly marinated meat and bold flavors. The next day, I went for the Bun Cha Grilled Pork and Summer Rolls, and both were absolutely delicious.

If you’re craving legit Vietnamese flavors, make sure to check this place out. You won’t be disappointed!

My boyfriend and I decided to come here for the first time after a long day of work and craving pho. The server was very nice and made sure every customer was doing okay. It seemed like the other customers were regulars as the server knew what to get them.
