Excellent authentic Japanese food with a wide variety of American and Japanese liquor available. I love having Sake or Shochu (Japanese whiskey) with my meals there. All of there dishes are great! Parking in the back of the building or on Kaimuki Ave. Youthful waiters provide pleasant and excellent service!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo! WHHHYYYYYYyyyyyyyy?! I just heard the news.. the place I most look forward to when in Honolulu is closed for good?! So sad. This was absolutely the best Yakiniku. Thank you Futago for all of the great times there. You will be missed.

The ambience is casual and the servers are friendly. The wagyu was delicious! Very fatty! We ordered the wagyu couple set for $300. I think it's more than enough food for two people. It comes with several side dishes, uni, sushi, one combo plate of wagyu, and another premium wagyu. The food really bought us back to Japan! I would definitely come back next time I visit Hawaii! $$$

AMAZING. Everything on their menu is great and the quality of their meat is the best (much better than the other yakiniku restaurants on Oahu). It's next door to Konos on Kapahulu with a few parking spaces in the back. The staff is great and they can get super busy during the weekdays. Only open for dinner- so make a reservation!!! Also- find out about their Golden Tong program!!!

This is where all the Japanese tourists go to. You're often see Japanese celebrities eating here. The food is definitely tasty but you're paying for it it's not a cheap dinner. They have a couple of parking spot in the back. The staff are very friendly and always asking if you need anything else. Overall a very positive experience at this restaurant.

Futago is one of those restaurants that you gaze at while waiting in rush hour, wondering when the light it going to change. Maybe that place is good. Maybe traffic will move soon. Wonder if I can find it on yelp. Oh pretty good reviews. OH WE'RE MOVING. I'm not rich enough to heedlessly follow other reviews recommending $300 course meals, but for now, we were lucky enough to stop in for the $50 (per person) set meal. Set A. Come hungry! It's gonna be a lot of food, especially if you appreciate the vegetables. We enjoyed plates of daikon/wonbok/cucumber kimchee, beansprouts/carrots/sigeumchi/daikon namul, and cabbage salad to start. We had to take out the vegetables; these were a meal by themselves. There was a little plate of seaweed as well (yakinori) that was a lovely addition. There was quite a long list of meats in the A course, here's our quick rundown: - Tongue: delicious! We always love tongue, it's a unique texture with meaty flavor, and this did not disappoint - Tontoro wasabi: fatty pork pieces, don't worry, wasabi on the side. Yum. - Sausage: Reminds me of blackline pork sausage from Nijiya. Smoky and sweet. - Kalbi: Our favorite...so lean and flavorful. Marinated in the same sauce as the next three. - Harami: A little tougher and richer in flavor. My second favorite. - Filet: Melt in your mouth soft, a little less so in flavor and character. - Rosu: Close to harami, a bit more chewy, less fatty, and stronger beef flavor - Tsubo Beef: They gave us a lot more than 3 pieces! But honestly the toughest bits. Lots of flavor, but you have to enjoy chewing. Garlic rice was on point, and honestly hard to finish with all the rest of the food! We got to dessert, which we found out you can upgrade to kinako brown sugar for $2 more. My SO was stoked. Lost star for service. Servers were nice enough, but not attentive during the meal. I ordered a "super" lychee sour, but received a regular sized one, and once I finished it no one asked me if I wanted another. It was severely watered down and nowhere near worth five buckaroos. Overall enjoyable experience for the high quality meats, balanced meal, and quiet, chic atmosphere. I'll definitely keep this place on my radar.

Deliciousness+ ! You can't go wrong with this place. All meats are tender and juicy. Price is a bit high but I think you get what you pay for.

First time here! Worst parking on the island but at least they let you double park! Luckily we ate here with a group so we could block each other. Do not try to park at Kapahulu Safeway or other businesses as they tow cars! Park on street if possible. Menu was a large with several items, set meals are the best deals as they provide a good array of low quality meats at a decent price of $50 to $100 dollars. However, I decided to order the best A5 wagyu sushi and Harami steak, and garlic fried rice! Very expensive but was pure high quality! Highly recommended. The only negative thing was pricing, very expensive- but worth the price!

I live nearby and don't know how I haven't heard of this place! A couple out-of-town friends came to visit. They wanted to try this place for dinner after discovering it on Yelp. Parking is limited. Be prepared to find street parking, which is difficult in the Kapahulu area. I've been to a yakiniku restaurants, but this is one of the best: +Attentive staff +Quality meat +Mouthwatering garlic rice PLUS, you get a bib. That's right - a BIB! I'm a messy eater and upon seeing a bib as part of the table setting, I knew this was not going to be your average yakiniku restaurant. I'm just counting down the days to come back here.
