Place is cool looking and service is quite fast. Unfortunately, the sushi is just ok and quite expensive. No major complaints but can't see myself returning.

This is our go to stop for great Japanese food. Quality sushi, great tempura, awesome tonkatsu.

My longtime fave sushi restaurant. Been going here for the past 30 years and the food has been consistently good.

You can get seated in booths, or if you wanna see the action, ask to be seated at the sushi bar!

Reservations highly recommended. Parking can get tight but they have valet in the front.

Over price and the food is not good like before

Food was no doubt very fresh and flavorful. The ambiance was very welcoming and warm, great for family and friends to catch up. Only problem is the service. We waited for one butter fish to be served as part of the meal but was never served ton one of our party members when others already had theirs ahead. We notified the staff but and had it to go but still never came.

Amazing food!!! I'm in Honolulu on vacation this week. If I can in my schedule I'd definitely come back here again before I leave!!!

Institution, one of the best more classic sushi spots in town, love the vibe and menu offerings!

Yanagi Sushi is a must-visit for anyone craving fresh, high-quality sushi in Honolulu. The variety on the menu is impressive, from expertly crafted nigiri and sashimi to flavorful specialty rolls. The chefs are skilled, and the presentation is always on point. Service is efficient and friendly, even when the restaurant is busy. Whether dining in or taking out, the food is consistently excellent. A longtime favorite for a great sushi experience!

We were able to get reservations made for a table of 6 adults in short time, which is great. The fish was very fresh. Also opted for a huge sashimi plate that was posted on the wall, but wasnt on the menu. The lobster was pricey, but the chef meticulously cut every porcel of meat from the tail and body and made the rest into a lobster miso soup. The grilled butterfish was my favorite. Perfectly grilled and seasoned. There has got to be a reason why this restaurant has been around as long as it has. The selection of fish wasnt as extensive as what we get in California or New York, but it is premium quality. Thats what i think sets Yanagi Sushi above the rest in Waikiki.

Local late night spot for sushi. I’ve been coming here for over 30 years. Even though I live on the mainland , I still come back here every time I go back to Hawaii. What I love about this place is its consistency in quality food and service they have provided through all the yrs I’ve been coming here. The fish is always fresh, never had a bad meal here. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy , almost if you were at a izakaya in Japan. When I come eat at this restaurant, it reminds me of coming back my grandma’s home to eat a home cooked meal

One of the best sushi places I've been to. Great good prepared by the friendliest chefs.

Avoid this place if you expect attentive service. We arrived at 8:45 PM and ordered Shabu Shabu, only to be informed at 8:55 PM that it was unavailable—despite the menu clearly stating it’s served until 9 PM. Portions are small, and prices don’t justify the experience.

We had dinner with several friends here tonight. The private room was tight, but acceptable. The sashimis were very fresh, the butter fish was well prepared. The raw oysters were fresh as well and small as we’d ordered. All dishes were fairly traditional, but lacked creativity and proper presentation.
