This place isn’t even open. Very disappointing. Tried to grab some dim sum before heading to the airport. It lets you place an order online, luckily they make you pay at the restaurant so no loss.

Sweet and sour fish fillet is really good. Portion is usually a lot of food.

Very friendly and helpful staff, good covid-19 practice, and delicious food.

Well, this was not bad, but not all that great at the same time for dim sum in China town. Although they had all the classics, nothing really stood out in their assortment as special or unique. Additionally, the dim sum that they did have was mediocre at best.Order 4 choices from the cart and an item from the kitchen. Two out of the items where not steamed hot enough and were a bit on the dry side. One of them was the pork hash or better known as shumai. There was another dumpling that we ordered and although the minced pork and other goodies inside were tasty, the wrapper was tough and chewy. The spareribs where and chicken feet were very meaty and tasty as well as properly steamed to be served hot. I did order a plate of choy sum from kitchen. It was a very generous plate of excellent quality choy sum that I thought was cooked perfectly. The service was nice and friendly although a little lacking on follow up attention. Value was so so based on my experience. I am not going to put this place down as it wasn't that bad, but there is room for much improvement, so I have to rate them a 3. Maybe once things get back to a bit of more normal if ever (pre COVID-19), I will give them another chance.

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE Yee Hong is like the friend who's always there for you. They're not the best or worst at anything, but their specialty is just being there at the right time for you. Need dim sum early in the morning? Yee Hong. Need to a place to eat without waiting? Yee Hong. Need decent dim sum? Yee Hong. Need a place with relatively convenient parking? Yee Hong. === 2. FOOD Like many Chinese restaurants, Yee Hong offers seafood and meats of all types of preparations, as well as an assortment of rice and noodle dishes, and dim sum. Having been here many times (primarily with larger groups of co-workers), I can attest to the good portion size and quality of the rice, noodle, and dim sum dishes. Discerning diners from China/the mainland may tug at the authenticity of the tastes, but Yee Hong isn't far off the mark and hey, the Chinese restaurants in Honolulu generally specialize in *authentically local* tastes :) === 3. SERVICE & ENVIRONMENT Service is pretty prompt and decent in English and Cantonese. Over the past 5 years, I've never seen it packed and so not only is the restaurant open earlier than most, but there's likely a table for you whenever you need one! And that contributes to the ability to chat with your party while you're there, in a restaurant that's a little dated and maybe due for an extreme makeover in the next few years. Wheelchairs and strollers have no problems fitting in and parking is relatively easy with the Chinese Cultural Center structure in behind.

***4.5 STARS*** I was first introduced to Yee Hong Pavilion (YHP) back in August 2013 when I saw a UYE posting here hosted by 2 Chinese Yeeps. To my understanding, this was Yelp Hawaii's very first UYE at a Chinese restaurant. I wanted to offer my support so I attended. With my background in Cantonese cuisine, on my very first visit I found the food authentic and delicious. It was great to sit down with Emi H. and meet a handful of cool Yeeps, where until this day we are still good friends. Since then, I've been here a handful of times for dinners celebrating birthdays and special occasions. But each time it was a coordinated meal where the menu was pre-set and food was delivered to us once we were all seated. YHP is located on the corner of Maunakea St and Beretania St in Chinatown Cultural Plaza. They are one of the many Chinese restaurants in Chinatown where you can get dim sum during lunch time and dine family style for dinner. The food here is authentic Cantonese style cuisine with a slight variation. The dishes come out hot and I find them quite tasty. Personal favorites would be their Hong Kong style crispy chicken and honey walnut shrimp. The chicken skin is crispy and meat is juicy. The shrimps are plump and doesn't have excess breading nor swimming in a pool of sweet mayonnaise sauce. What I've noticed in quite a few reviews commented on the service here. Sadly, the lacking of service may seem to be the norm while dining at Chinese restaurants but each time I dined here, it was for a special function and service was good. Also, when I wanted something I was able to convey with the staff in Cantonese. To be frank, I don't expect great service at Chinese restaurants. Those establishments are hard to find, especially in Chinatown. Overall, a very decent place to dine with family and friends. I've yet to try YHP for dim sum but I hope to make my way over here to sample their dim sum offerings with family or friends.

It took me over five years to return to Yee Hong Pavilion! It is very bizarre, I know! The word on the street is...well, nothing. Nothing good, nothing bad. It was only until recently where more and more people talked about Yee Hong Pavilion and the word is good! Good dim sum, excellent Malaysian Sponge Cake, and good spareribs. Yes, yes, I agree! Yee Hong Pavilion has been in the Chinatown Cultural Plaza for many, many years. It's easily viewable, right on the corner of Beretania and Maunakea Streets. You can park in the Cultural Plaza parking garage or street parking. They validate. After so many years, nothing has changed for Yee Hong Pavilion. Everything is exactly the same. The same spacious dining room with the same tables and chairs set up the same exact way. I came here for lunch with my mom and grandma. They actually came here several weeks earlier and said it was really good. And funny enough, the next day, my other grandma's friend scheduled a lunch date here too! The array of dim sum isn't as much as the other restaurant nearby, and the prices leans towards the expensive side compared to others. Standard dim sum is $3.55 with 11 kinds (all the buns are here), Medium at $4.15 with another 11 (all the dumplings are here). $4.70 is the special with Lotus Leaf Mochi Rice and Pan Fried Corn pancake, and $5.75 is the Look Funns and beef tripe. Also, they serve congee at $6.50. Main menu is also available, of course. We started with the usuals. The Chicken Feet was really tasty, moist, plump, and juicy. Very meaty and delicious!! The Steamed Spareribs were really tasty and tender and garlicky. All the pieces were nice, consistent size, and actually felt like spareribs. I just realized my family doesn't really like Steamed Bean Curd Rolls. I always thought it was acceptable to them, but not anymore! But I really like it! I like how the bean curd soaks up all the juices and taste. It's not super soft, but had a little bite it. The pork filling was good and tasty. The Steamed Beef Balls were oddly light colored to almost the color of pork. Perhaps too much pork mixed in? Whatever the case, the beef balls were tasty, light, meaty, well-seasoned, and not oily. We ordered Shrimp and Spinach Dumplings that just came out of the kitchen steaming hot, and wow, were they delicious! The skin was perfect, not too think or thin, and the spinach and shrimp were just cooked so they were still moist, juicy, and very tasty. Recently, my family usually orders Plain Look Funn with Scallions and Cilantro. You receive more look funn than the ones with filling, and it's freshly rolled! Sometimes even freshly made from scratch! These were fresh and well made. The rolls had a nice thickness and weren't super oily either. We ordered a Fried E-Mein with Shredded Chicken. This was very well made, and well portioned! It had good wok heat! The chicken was tasty and moist. The bean sprouts and snow peas really encapsulated the wok heat! It also had some shiitake mushrooms as well. The noodles were nicely cooked to just right where it was just soft enough to soak in all the flavor while having a little bite to it. Lastly, the now famous Malaysian Steamed Sponge Cake. Wow. It is soft. It is fluffy. It is moist. It has just the right amount of sweetness. It is amazingly good when it comes out steaming hot! You know it's good when you see the servers snacking on it too. Overall, this was a really good experience. Our server was very nice, patient, courteous, and attentive. While the dim sum menu isn't very extensive and towards the pricey side. All the food was hot, well prepared, well portioned, and fresh. Seating is very comfortable and spacious. m glad I finally came back here, and will probably come here more often, especially for the sponge cake!

Used to be crowded when they first opened but now that is just a distant memory. We ordered the Singapore mei fun and beef fried chow fun for lunch. Both were subpar and lacking in flavor. Wanted them to do well and give the neighboring Chinese restaurants some competition. Sad to say this place doesn't even come close. Passing by this restaurant is desolate with chefs and wait help squatting outside near back of kitchen, some smoking their cigarettes. It's a wonder how they lasted this long. A couple of weeks ago they got shut down by the department of health. NO PASS Spooky, would choose elsewhere to eat.

When my family and I came here for breakfast, I found cockroaches in the barbecued pork buns. Their waiters didn't make any apologies. They just wanted to remove the barbecued pork buns and didn't apologize either. I think the hygiene is very dirty, the service is especially bad, and they won't come again. ..

Pretty cozy little establishment. The food arrived hot and tasty, and the tea was refilled very quickly. Seating was a bit tight in the corner, granted we had a party of around 20 people. Overall, very good dim sum, and the noodles were excellent as well.

The food was plentiful and delicious. Thank you Yee Hong!

Food is good, a little salty for my taste but that's due to my diet. Overall, service and atmosphere is nice.
