Sushi was great. Salmon skin roll slapped. Perfect rice and a lovely mixture of salty and crunchy. Siam was kind of bland. It’s my first time trying it so I had no expectations but was flavorless. Noodles have a strong egg after taste

We've been going to this location since it was built. Blockbuster Video was across the street on the other side of the freeway. Shell gas station was also there. A little bit of nostalgia.

We lived in the neighborhood so it was a nice stroll to the restaurant. Every Friday evening we had dinner there. The wait to get seated was always prompt.

My favorite was a Wonton Min or Curry Katsu Saimin and my wife loved the Chicken Katsu plate. Dessert was always Pineapple sundae. And coffee to finish.

This Zippy's is not overly busy so we can usually get a table quite quickly. Food is good, I love the Zip Pac, Chili Dog, Saimin etc...Fried Chicken is one of the best on the island!

I've been eating at this particular Zippy's for over ten years. The food quality has really fallen recently.
I think the hamburger I received for dinner was the worst hamburger I have ever eaten. Burnt black, dry, leathery. Truly awful.

On the plus side, the chili is still great

Food is always good at Zippy’s. You can’t go to Hawaii and not stop by at zippy’s.

Sushi and tempura here was top notch. Our server was on top of things. Don’t want to ruin this hidden gem, but it was too good not to share.

Ordered and paid for an order online. Arrived at restaurant at 11:50 pm. Posted hours for Wed is 6:00 am-12:00 am. Door and gates were both locked. I had to knock on the door for 5 minutes before someone opened. When I asked them why the doors were locked, they told me they actually closed at 11:50, not 12:00 am. Please change your posted hours of operation.

Food was good. Sorry no photos because I forgot. Very clean place and not too busy.

If you’re in Honolulu and craving comfort food with a local twist, Zippy’s in Kahala is a solid choice. Known for blending American, Asian, and Hawaiian favorites, it’s a casual spot that’s great for a quick and satisfying meal.

In depth review:

I recently stopped by and ordered the Korean Fried Chicken with Chili. The chicken itself was crispy, juicy, and coated in a deliciously sweet and savory glaze. The chili that came with it had good flavor, though there was an issue with the temperature. My portion was a bit too cool, which took away from the overall experience. On the other hand, my best friend’s dish came out with the chili scalding hot—almost too hot to eat. It was as if I got the last bit of a batch that had cooled down, while my friend got the fresh batch. While the flavor of the chili was still great, the inconsistency in temperature was a bit off-putting.

Service was quick, and though the atmosphere is basic, the staff was friendly and efficient. I went around dinner time , so there was no wait.

In addition to the Korean Fried Chicken, Zippy’s menu features a solid variety of comfort food options. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable.

Pros:
• The Korean Fried Chicken is crispy and flavorful with a great glaze.
• The chili adds nice flavor (when it’s at the right temperature).
• Quick service and a convenient location in Kahala.
• Reasonable prices with generous portions.

Cons:
• Inconsistent temperature of the chili (mine was a bit too cool, my friend’s was scalding).
• The atmosphere is simple and can get crowded during peak hours.
