Have been going to Zippy's makiki since they opened. As everything kind of changed during the pandemic so did zippy's. The food before for some reason tasted better. The portions have shrunk not to starving areas but shrunk and with everything else that we know about the price has gone up. The staff and whoever hires the staff is still doing an awesome job the people that come and assist you are Pleasant cheerful and very attentive to your needs. It would be nice to get Zippy's back to where it was and maybe one day it will be but right now it's working on itself and it's doing a great job. Again, support local. I have a feeling at some point in time is someone born and raised here they will be our mainstay.

In town for business and the security guard told us to eat lunch at Zippy's and have the Zip Pack. Not only did we have the Zip Pack, we had the Deluxe. In my mind, to have a plate with all of these very different things makes little sense - but it works. Especially when you are hungry! It's about a pound of rice, lol, a piece of fried fish, beef teriyaki, fried SPAM and a deep fried chicken thigh! Macaroni salad is on the same plate and the DELUXE version will add a huge scoop of chili on the rice. While none of these will be anywhere close to the best you've ever had - completing the lunch will give you a story to tell for the rest of your life! I'm guessing it's 2500 calories and I didn't want to eat for the rest of the day. Our server was hilarious and had fun with us. Decor is like a "mid" diner. The locals back at our office LOVE this place and were glad we stopped in.

The waiter was excellent! Very quick in serving us. The onion rings & chicken katsu looked golden brown and easy to bite into and not overly cooked or burnt. The service was great up until I was ready to pay. There wasn't anybody at the register. The dining room wasn't busy yet, but while waiting for someone to ring me for my bill, customers were starting to come in. Some got seated & some had to wait for a table. I wasn't too sure who was supposed to ring at the register. After about what seems like 5 minutes, my waiter that served us was able to take my payment.

The service there is amazing. I love all of the workers there. They take time to talk to the elderly and treat them like human beings. Great you with a smile, always checking up on you. I love taking my mother there for lunch!

It took over 40 minutes from the time I ordered on the app (in the parking lot) to when I got my order. My number was never called (I was waiting in the lobby the whole time). When I got home I realized the order was also incorrect (a less expensive item was substituted for what I ordered). Bad experience. Won't be back.

With all the staff on had during my visit, she was the only employee who was happy, kind, and so very personable!! Her smile literally lit up the crabby vibes that this place was exuding. Lmao!! Now!! In regards to Zippy's itself... We all know that there are no shortages of eateries in Hawaii, but I made it an absolute must to get me a taste of Zippy's. My decision came with plenty of pushback and a lot of people repeatedly describing the establishment as "mediocre fast food" but my mind was made. First things first, there seems to be 2 sides of Zippy's. One end offers ordering in a fast food style and another where you're seated and provided menus at the table. Our party didn't realize that until a lot later but we were totally content with ordering via fast food method. Purchases: *Regular Fried Chicken Plate [3pc chicken, rice, & mac salad] *Large Chili Bowl *Side of Fries *Ube Donut [new item!!] *Banana Cream Pie [single slice] Forreal Forreal! This is some of the best fried chicken I've had- and that says a lot because I'm not normally big on fried chicken! Each piece was cooked perfectly- crispy outter skin, moist/juicy interior, and the seasonings = chef's kiss!! Very tasty and the best comparison I could think of is Popeye's [but a step above even that]. The bowl of chili was hearty and flavorful. Fries were okay- this was the most basic item purchased. Ube donut was beautifully vibrant, fluffy, and the sweetness wasn't overwhelming. Banana cream pie was good but I've had better. 5/5 stars. You can't go wrong with cheap, delicious, and quick meals. Visiting Zippy's and grabbing some fried chicken is officially a staple whenever I travel to the islands!! It's really that good. Zippy's does not play when it comes to seasonings- food did not need any condiments but they are available if you prefer.

Enjoyable local diner. We ordered the Grilled cheese sandwich, very tasty. Unfortunately we wanted clam chowder but it's only available Sunday. A soup came with the sandwich, potatoe and bacon. They added alot of cheddar cheese. Not to our taste. Also ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce. No parmesan cheese available, extremely pleasant server asked if I wanted cheddar cheese! No thanks!! Very large portions.

The food was good. My mini-curry meal was missing the curry in the sauce but otherwise, everything tasted good. The prices were a little high but considering the economy and being in Hawaii, it was okay. Service was good at noon on Friday. I will go back for other items on the menu.
