Food was good but not spectacular for the price. It was served on paper plates. I really liked how, at payment, no tip was asked for prior to getting the food and the lady who took our order was friendly.

This was my first time trying this restaurant, and unfortunately it will also be my last. I ordered two burritos and two Mexican sodas, and the total came to almost $60, which felt very expensive for the quality of food we received.
The burritos lacked flavor, and the meat wasn’t chopped fajita-style as expected. Instead, it was served in large strips, which didn’t work well in a burrito. One of the burritos was ordered sink style, which was supposed to include rice, beans, lettuce, and tomato, but it was mostly filled with rice and had very little of the other ingredients.
What made the experience even more disappointing was what I observed while waiting at the front counter. The food appeared to be reheated in a microwave rather than prepared fresh. In addition, I watched an employee cleaning trays and then handling food without changing gloves afterward.
I also observed a tray of refried beans being placed on top of a trash can. The same tray was then picked up and the beans inside were used to serve a customer’s meal. Seeing these food-handling practices raised serious concerns about cleanliness and food safety.
For nearly $60, I expected fresh, flavorful food and a much better overall experience. Between the bland food, the poorly made burritos, and the concerning food-handling practices I witnessed, this visit was extremely disappointing. Based on my experience, I will not be returning.

$27.00 for 2 chicken tocos with beans and cheese . I guess he just kept adding things to my order that I wasn’t understanding were extra charges . The owner/cashier just kept asking questions. Do you like jalapeños, onions , salsa on your taco or with chips on the side …..??never mentioned extra charges. They used to have a soda fountain and salsa bar .This place has gone way down hill . To bad . Oh and I ordered a bottle of coke ,not cold and no ice ! Very strange experience. Won’t be going back . Not at that price and service .

I ordered two tacos which were over priced and it wasn’t what I asked for. The Carne asada was good but I asked for only cilantro and onion and there was a bunch of lettuce cheese and tomatoes. the fish was bland. I asked for limes they told me they don’t have them. I asked for a cup of ice for my warm coke they gave me and they didn’t have that. I asked for hot sauce to put on my tacos and they told me I had to buy a container of salsa. The lady seemed annoyed to take my order.

Las Pinatas has really gone down hill. Such a bummer! I've been coming here for twenty plus years and it use to be my favorite, within the last several years, especially after covid, it's really gone downhill. No salsa bar. Steak is grisel and had to chew. I spit it all out and had a lettuce taco I was hoping the next taco wasn't as bad but it was worse. Not even my husband would eat it. Not to mention no flavor and slightly gamey. The clerk kept saying to to all my asks about salsas on the side, or pay more so I just never felt comfortable asking for something different. I just need to remember that Amigos is right next door and they give free chips and salsa and have beer too!
Ordered a chicken chimichanga and chips and salsa yo go. Chicken chimichanga had rice and beans inside with lettuce, tomato and sour cream on side. Asked if also wanted cilantro, onions or jalapeño so got cilantro. Had a medium salsa (5 kinds for purchase in 4oz and 8oz size) that had a nice smoky flavor. I thought the food was great and portions good for price. Comparable to other restaurants on Maui. Great service and quick. Would go back if visiting again.

While driving down Dairy Road in Maui, I noticed one of the Mexican restaurants and decided to give it a try. I ordered the carne asada burrito. The ordering process was interesting it’s similar to a build your own concept, except you make your selections by reading from a paper board instead of a traditional menu. The burrito itself was a good size and definitely filling. However, the carne asada was not what I expected. The meat was shaved rather than diced or chopped, making it feel more like a Philly cheesesteak wrapped in a burrito. While it tastes fine and will satisfy your hunger, it lacks the flavor and preparation of authentic carne asada. Overall, it’s decent if you’re hungry and looking for something quick, but if you’re craving authentic Mexican food, this isn’t it. The experience felt more like a generic, Taco Bell style burrito than a traditional Mexican dish.
