Such an unassuming location but this place is more than meets the eye! This was my first time here, I went thinking I wanted a fish dish but decided to try their loco moco. They had 4 varieties and I had the one called Brahda’s Moco and damn it was good! I definitely will be back for that again but also looking forward to trying their other menu items as well!

This place had the most amazing Mahi Mahi! It is reasonably priced and super simple. Way better than more expensive restaurants. The service was great personable but non-intrusive. The only drawback was that the atmosphere was kind of industrial and strip mallish, which it is in. But did I mention the food is amazing!

Got the Moco Loco- iconic Hawaiian dish- for take out. I found it to be not bad! The gravy was very salty, especially when eaten with the hamburger patty. I enjoyed the meal but it wasn't anything special. The restaurant was pretty empty when I went during lunch time on a Friday. Definitely family owned and local. Overall, it was decent but not enough to bring me back.

Instagram: KonaFoodieJ's Fish & Grill Kona restaurant has great dishes, including Poke bowls and seafood. They are locally owned and operated and they have a lot of love in their food. During our visit, we tried the Mahi Mahi dish. You can find the restaurant nestled between the KTA grocery store and Jamba Juice in Kailua-Kona. The staff is friendly and the food is excellent.

I don't do a lot of post but this place is AWESOME! First meal arriving on the island after a 6 hour flight and our plane had to do a Go-around due to strong wind and J's fish and grill did not disappoint. The lemon garlic butter Mahi was cooked perfectly. We've had fish and chips at other places and they are all batter and small piece of fish. J's fish and chips are dense with just enough batter. Just plain 'ONO'. To top it off, the staff was nice, she's very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Mahalo Nui Loa! .

I was craving fish and chips and really wanted to support a local business with the freshest quality products. I stumbled upon this restaurant after shopping in the local supermarket right next door. My first impression, definitely a locally owned, family run, small business. Decor is nothing fancy, pictures of the owner fishing with friends and family. The fish and chips, not fancy either. I think it was ono (wahoo) but I was disappointed that it came out on the tougher side, not soft and flaky like I was expecting. The breading wasn't flavored. The fries and tartar sauce were nothing special. Plain and simple. Not sure I would come back to try something else but the fish and chips were not my favorite.

Wow, great food. Very unassuming location, people probably don’t realize how good the food is. Poke sampler was excellent and fried fish combo. Glad my wife finds these places!

? Visited J's Fish & Grill in Kona and had a spicy poke that made me question my life choices! Shoyu poke saved the day though. Calamari was so good it made us do a happy dance, while the fish plate was like a casual fishy acquaintance. The rice played hard to get - dry and flavorless. We tried to beat the clock and ordered before closure, but maybe evenings aren't its shining moment. Time to reel in some improvements, J's! ???
