Nephi's Smokehouse

Nephi’s is a little difficult to find, but so worth it. Our lunch was delicious, hot, and freshly made. The service was so warm and friendly. This is the place to go for lunch with local flavor and hospitality.

Got a furikake chicken plate because the photos looked killer. Came with a teaspoon sized dollop of mayo and green onions. No seasoning or seeds on anything. Had to raw dog it. Pricey for a fumble.

I had their special, Pastele Stew. Wow it was amazing. Rich in flavor with black olives and tastes of cilantro. So delicious. I regret not taking a pic before I got into it. Tastes like a good home meal.

My wife and I decided to try a restaurant that we haven't been to for some food since electrical power in our area was out. The restaurant wasn't busy since there were 6 people there and some already had their food. No customer was at the counter when we ordered food. About 10 minutes later people arrived. About 25 minutes later a person picked up food to go that they had called in or ordered online. One couple left without ordering. We got 2 sandwiches about half an hour later after another couple left after finishing their food but they were already there and a family of 4 were also there when we arrived. There were people that had ordered food 30 minutes after us and left while others received their food and were eating. 45 minutes later we still had 3 more orders of food that we still haven't received with our 2 sandwiches to go. Now I'm not happy because the 2 sets of young couples that were behind us had been eating for 15 minutes and they came in with other people between 15 to 30 minutes after us. It's now an hour since we've ordered our 5 food dishes to go. The only purple that hadn't received their food were the last people was the last three people who were together. Over an hour and 14 people who came after us received their food... one person ordered online or called in, one couple who left without ordering and 3 female who came in last. Over an hour!!! The 2 sets of young couple that was sitting behind us had almost finished eating their food when we finally received the three remaining food dishes that we had order. The last 3 dishes of food was ube pancakes and 2 orders of loco moco. The people who worked there seemed nice enough and the food was good. The only issue was the service so I'm not sure what happened while we were there. Yes it became busy about 15 minutes after we ordered with 14 other people coming in but 2 people had already had finished eating and left and another couple also finished and left about 14-20 minutes later. A family of four who received most of their food with 2 plates of food coming afterwards. As of now, I'm not sure if I would go back due to my first experience there. I'm sure that this wasn't done on purpose but there must have been some confusion with all of the orders after ours. I wonder if our food ticket must have somehow became displaced or put at the bottom. Even the 2 young couples (4 people who were together) who were behind us eating kept on looking at us with confusion as to why we haven't received our order yet when I mentioned to my wife that it's been 45 minutes since we ordered. All we had were the 2 sandwiches which we received about half an hour after we had ordered. This review is based from my first experience at this establishment and the peyote who worked there did not make my first impression there a good one due to poor service. All of the hot food was good but was barely warm when we received them. The sandwiches were also good.

Really good smoked meats -smoked pork, sweet sausage and portuguese sausage. The fire water and citrus are the perfect balance! Ono! Friendly, legit smoked!

Get the loco moco with fried rice + smoke meat + over easy egg. Get the double scoop of gravy. That gravy is delicious and don't say no to it ever. Also, get the French toast. Lovely local family running this place. They are such warm folks and their food is yummy. We devoured it! Will be back again!

Good place to eat. Very casual and possible family style seating.
I had the Eggs Benedict with white rice on the side. They allowed me swap the meat to fish. What a great combination, smoked white fish, meets an excellent hollandaise sauce. Eggs perfectly poached. I stayed traditional on the English muffin. Price for food quantity is probably the breakfast sandwich. Lots of food, not a big price.

I’m really picky about my plate lunch and they do not disappoint. Make sure you get the poi balls for desert. Don’t skip Nephi’s if you want to try real Hawaiian food while you’re in Kona 🙌
