The definition of a “hole in the wall” restaurant. The smoked pork was delicious, and the aunties that were behind the counter were so friendly! Most people take their food to go, but there are several picnic benches available inside if you choose to dine in. Nothing fancy here, but very tasty food, large servings, for a reasonable price. It’s definitely worth the effort to find it.

Best Loco Moco on the island by a mile. The people are wonderful, the food is amazing. If I had the time, I’d eat everything on the menu - don’t wait, go now!

We had smoked meat and sweet sausage plate, ono fish and shrimp plate, furikake fries.
The food was very delicious, especially smoked meat and the shrimp. Staff were friendly as well, the best restaurant in Kona through our trip.

I cannot say enough good things about Nephis! Kind family owned establishment with incredible food. Multiple generations work here and each family member chatted with us while we waited for our food. The food was DELICIOUS!! We got loco moco and pancakes and will definitely be back for more. Truly supporting local here! Take your food over to the beach down the street and enjoy!

Super local place with the nicest people serving delicious food. If you have the time, slow down and talk to the nice family operating the joint, they will happily share a little piece of Hawaii, served along local favorites, especially the smoke pork with fried rice. It reminded me of Chinese BBQ (char siu) with a slightly sweet shoyu flavors. Because it’s smoke, the meat is on the drier side, but if you ask nicely, the owner will include some fattier pieces which are rich and oily, but is a nice contrast to the mostly lean cuts. The pork chop with gravy was also fantastic. The toss salad greens were also fresh, which is a small thing, but shows the owners take pride in their craft and products. Don’t expect much in terms of facilities (heavy fan running, but no AC), but the warmth of the owners and the delicious food more than make up for any shortcomings.
