Meat was near perfect on flavor and sides are dynamite. They only thing is their sauce is too sweet. It was missing that tang and one of my tacos was almost all fat. But, I ate the other two and my hubby was happy with his meat plate.

I was just ecstatic when my group mentioned a Hawaiian BBQ joint. When we walked in, the employee was sitting at a table watching her phone possible finishing break. Nobody else was in the restaurant to greet us. We stood at the podium for a minute or two before looking amongst each other confused. There wasn’t clear indicators that this was a self serve style restaurant where you seat yourself and order at the counter. Eventually the lady stood up and we asked if we just pick a table and order with her & she said yes. Sign when entering explained they were out of chicken but had turkey. One member of my party ordered the brisket but were told they only had enough brisket for nachos but explained they had everything else on the menu. Ordered the pulled pork plate. Meat itself was smoked really well to the point that it was stringy. However, it was just missing something that I couldn’t put my finger on. I ordered deep fried Oreos and was told they would be out before we finished our meal. We paid for everything and sat in the back patio which was a really cool spot. Food smelled amazing back there. Towards the end of the meal, the lady comes out to tell me there isn’t any Oreos but gave me cheesecake instead, which I detest. Not sure if they were slammed before the weekend causing a shortage of supplies or what the issue was. The employee also asked if we liked watching UFC and could escort us to the bar to watch the fight as they had it on. When we showed interest in that, the gentlemen in the back told her there was a cover charge and that it wasn’t free. I feel like this establishment is lacking proper communication due to the employee not understanding what was available and what wasn’t. On top of the many other things I mentioned in the review. This place has a lot of potential but needs to start working more as a team to be a 5 star review.

First off we were greeted with so much Aloha and everyone in the restaurant was so accommodating and treated us like family. We ordered the ohana platter and it was amazing! (Family of 5) and still had lots of left overs . We will definitely be back everytime we come to kona. I'm happy we found this place!

I had to pulled pork, it was tasteless and they served it to me cold. The pork was not even pulled? It was big chunks. If I didn't put salt and pepper and lots of barbeque sauce on it, it was uneatable. The place was completely empty. I would never go back. Does anybody on the big island know how to make pulled pork that has taste? What a waste of time and money.

They have limited poultry options but the turkey is amazing. Salad was decent and the cowboy caviar is pretty good! What impressed me here was the staff and their eagerness to please. They forgot my brother's smoked beans and gave us free dessert which was yummy! Very nice people and that goes a long way! True aloha here! Btw they don't have smoked chicken anymore. Just smoked turkey which is amazing!Dietary restrictions: I can't eat alot of things but I was able to get a decent smoked turkey salad here and it filled me up!

Brisket was not cooked long enough. Very fatty and tough. Coleslaw and macaroni potato salad were bland. Really expensive.

We ordered food to go for 25 people and Ohana Q did not disappoint! Delicious meats (pork ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork) and yummy sides (Mac salad, cole slaw, smoked Mac and cheese) plus rice.Everything was perfectly cooked, fresh and warm, even though I was late picking it up.Cannot recommend this restaurant enough.Prices were reasonable based on other options, (I could not even find another comparable place tbh) we fed 25 with leftovers for about $550 including tip.Parking: Shopping center lot

A nice family joint with real good BBQ. They specialize in BBQ tacos, but they also have salads and meat platters, as well as meat by the pound. If you enjoy BBQ, it's a nice option from the burgers, fish and other standard island offerings. There's a covered courtyard in back that can accommodate around 35 to 40 people as well.

Not a great experience. Brisket was not good and not cooked well. Very chewy and fatty and very expensive.

Scrumptious brisket! Nuff said... Except that the yummy mac nut slaw and the lilikoi lemonade also deserve a mention.

Maybe my expectations are much higher coming from the Midwest. No one in our group enjoyed our food - much of the pork and brisket was inedible; all non rendered down fat. The mac and cheese was cold and flavorless. Slider buns were hard as rocks - really would avoid this place. One positive is the bartender was friendly, with some good local beers on tap.

Semi outdoor atmosphere is nice. Service is good. Food is good, not great. My brisket tocos were better than my wife's brisket sliders, but hers came with great tasting chips and some yummy salsa. 3.5 stars.
