I was recently at Papa Kona after not having been there for a couple of years. I was there for both breakfast and dinner on different days in the last week. I was pleasantly surprised by the improved dishes (I had avocado toast for breakfast and their fish special for dinner). The food was delicious and they were very nice portions. I'll say I was pleasantly surprised by my size of my fish. I've been disappointed by other restaurants when they are less than generous...
Papa Kona has a great location with beautiful ocean views and a fun atmosphere. The staff was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the food was very basic and didn't stand out, especially considering the price. It wasn't bad, but it lacked the flavor and creativity we were expecting. If you're looking for a place to enjoy the view and have a drink, it's worth stopping by, but we found the food to be average.
