Talk about a hidden gym! We were on Hawaii for 4 nights and we managed to eat here 3 times. First was lunch after landing (couldn’t check into our resort yet), then we got pozole to-go for after our manta dive the next night, and then we had a nice slow dinner here the day we flew out!

Amazingly delicious Mexican food, we can vouch for the burritos, quesadillas, tacos, and pozole. Their red hot sauce is FIRE. I wish I had a way to take it back to the mainland with me.

Best part - amazing food, and mainland prices. Not sure how they do it, but they OVER deliver with every bite.

A Feast Fit for the Emperors of Tenochtitlan

Walking into Patricio’s Taqueria, you might think you’re just pulling up a chair at a neighborhood spot. But the moment the food hits your table, it’s clear that Patricio’s isn’t just cooking dinner—they are channeling ancient history.

In the high courts of the Aztec Empire, dining was a sacred ritual. Emperors like Moctezuma Xocoyotzin were served hundreds of elite dishes every day: slow-simmered proteins, richly spiced moles, and perfectly pressed heirloom corn tortillas, all treated with the reverence of a royal decree. Patricio's brings that exact level of majesty to the modern plate.

The flavors here are deep, complex, and uncompromised. The meats are seasoned with a precision that feels like a lost art, carrying the smoky, earth-shaking depth that you’d expect from an imperial banquet. Their salsas don't just provide heat; they offer a masterclass in balance, blending acidity and spice just as the royal chefs blended chilis and wild herbs centuries ago. Even the simplest taco at Patricio's feels like a culinary artifact, wrapped in a warm tortilla that holds the true soul of traditional nixtamalization (the ancient process of preparing corn).

If you want a standard meal, go anywhere else. But if you want to eat like royalty—reconnecting with a lineage of flavor that once fueled an empire—Patricio’s Taqueria is your palace and say hi to Jhar! She's amazing!

We stopped here on our way to the airport and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the steak quesadilla, chicken quesadilla, and ceviche and burrito, and every dish was absolutely delicious. The food tasted authentic and fresh, not like typical Tex-Mex, which we really appreciated.

The flavors were outstanding, the ingredients tasted high quality, and everything was prepared perfectly. We had a great experience and would definitely come back the next time we’re in the area. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic Mexican food!

I have been to Patricios many times over the years, and always enjoy my meals. Some of the best and most authentic Mexican food on the Big Island.

I always get the cheese quesadilla when we go to Patricio's. The tortillas are baked to perfection and nice and crispy. This past Thursday I was so disappointed when it arrived soggy and saturated with grease. I tried soaking up some of the grease with my napkin but it was basically inedible. Ann

We stopped here for lunch before heading back to airport after our trip. A small shop with no big ambiance, but food was flavorful. Prices were reasonable. Portions were decent but not too big. Would recommend for a quick meal.

Given the awesome experience I had at Patricio's, I'm surprised they aren't more highly rated. I got the Fish Taco Plate that came with rice and refried beans. They offer you a choice of salsas, and I got the spicy. A couple dabs of that salsa on my rice and beans gave them the perfect kick. I absolutely loved the fish tacos! The warm, tender tortillas really made this dish pop. I thought the food and the atmosphere were extremely authentic. The old-timey, traditional Mexican music (with the big horn section), and the beautiful wall mural made me feel like I was having lunch in Mexico. The young lady that served me was sweet, and my order was ready in about five minutes. Also, the meal was quite reasonably priced. I highly recommend Patricio's!
