My husband got a ninja star roll and said this was some of the best sushi he’s ever had. The wait time said 2 hours when we first walked up, but we only got the 1 roll and only waited maybe 10 minutes, so we were really happy about that.
Definitely a must try when in Kona!

The best sushi EVER! I can’t wait to be back to have a makai roll again. I haven’t had sushi as good as this anywhere else. The people are wonderful :)

Really really good sushi rolls, the best in big island! The only and biggest downside is the wait times…. I went 1 hour before they closed and it was gonna take 45 mins for 3 rolls… also no free parking unless you score some on the street or a local (you get 2 free hours in most lots.). The portion size is really big, one roll is 8 pieces you think it’s not enough but it is! Definitely a must to go and grab some before watching the sunset.

The roll is not bad, it’s absolutely huge — I would probably hit this place up a lot if I lived here, great value for money. But given its level of hype (and 4 hour wait) I was expecting a bit more taste wise (it’s good but simple)
Showed up at 10:50 and started calling so I could place my order first thing as soon as they opened but nobody answered the phone. Ended up sitting outside waiting for lady to open doors. She finally did at 11:10. When I asked if I could place an order she said there was a 3 hour wait and she had just opened. I come to kona for work and drive hours to get there. So I had to go work then come grab my food after I got off. Definitely don't expect to eat here for lunch. There is always multiple hours of waiting even if they just opened. And the rolls are decent but not worth the wait in my opinion and her attitude sucked too. I don't understand how they can just open and have a 3+ hour wait. I miss the good old days when you could just order and pick up shortly after. It's been so many years since they were at that level of performance and customer service. I still tipped the bill out of kindness and the fond memories I have here from over 10 years ago but I'm not sure I'll be going back since they make people wait hours and hours just to get food. I even called here once right at open another time and was told there was a 5 hour wait. They close 6 hours after opening and sometimes randomly close sooner then that. You really have to decide if it's even worth it to be completely honest. Decent food, decent price, extreme wait time and rude staff now and days. No smiles, no kindness, no aloha! What's even the point? Rolls are huge btw but not tightly rolled and will fall apart. Sometimes the rice is dry. That's all I got from my past experiences. Mahalo!

It was open, nobody was eating, and for some reason there was a 3 hour wait. As we were standing there someone came out and changed the sign to a 6 hour wait, didn’t say anything. They close in less than 6 hours.

The best sushi I've ever had. And I'm very picky. But, if you actually get through on the phone it's really a could HR wait. But, WORTH IT!
